Did Tesla’s “Model Q” Arrive in 2025? What Deutsche Bank Actually Forecast

“Model Q” was Deutsche Bank’s shorthand, not a confirmed Tesla model name. Its reported under-$30,000 estimate included U.S. subsidies; without the U.S. EV credit, the forecast cited $37,499.

“Model Q” was Deutsche Bank’s informal name for a Tesla it forecast in December 2024—not a model Tesla officially announced under that name. The bank’s reported forecast put the price below $30,000 after U.S. subsidies, or $37,499 if the U.S. EV tax credit were unavailable. Its predicted first-half 2025 launch window was a forecast, not confirmation of a launch.

Was Tesla’s Model Q an officially announced car?

No official Tesla statement cited here identifies a vehicle as “Model Q.” InsideEVs reported that Deutsche Bank analyst Edison Yu used the name in a December 2024 forecast after meeting with Tesla investor relations head Travis Axelrod. The outlet cautioned that “Model Q” was the analysts’ label and might not be the final name. InsideEVs’ report is the source for the bank’s reported wording and the meeting account.

That distinction matters: a bank forecast about a vehicle is not the same as Tesla announcing a model, confirming its name, or publishing specifications.

What price did Deutsche Bank forecast?

Yu’s reported estimate was “<$30k including subsidies,” with a stated alternative of $37,499 “if US EV tax credit goes away.” Those are two versions of the same forecast, not a verified Tesla MSRP: the sub-$30,000 figure depended on U.S. subsidies, while $37,499 was the report’s figure without the U.S. EV credit. InsideEVs reproduced the quoted forecast; Tesla did not confirm either price in the cited company updates.

Reported price formulation What it means Status
Below $30,000 Price including U.S. subsidies, as described in the forecast Deutsche Bank’s reported estimate, not a confirmed Tesla price
$37,499 Reported price if the U.S. EV tax credit were unavailable Deutsche Bank’s reported alternative, not a confirmed Tesla price

Did the forecasted 2025 timing match Tesla’s updates?

Deutsche Bank reportedly expected the vehicle it called Model Q to launch in the first half of 2025. Tesla’s own updates discussed more affordable vehicles, but did not identify one as Model Q in the cited passages.

Tesla’s Q4 2024 update

Tesla said preparations were underway at existing factories for new products in 2025, including more affordable models. This was a general statement about its plans, not confirmation of the bank’s name, price, or launch window. Tesla’s Q4 2024 update

Tesla’s Q2 2025 update

Tesla said it built the first units of a more affordable model in June and planned volume production in the second half of 2025. The cited passage did not call that vehicle Model Q. It therefore does not establish that the bank’s forecasted vehicle launched in the first half of the year, or that the vehicle Tesla described was the one the analysts had in mind. What is known about the vehicle’s specifications?

The cited statements establish only that Tesla discussed more affordable products and reported first builds of a more affordable model. They do not establish Model Q’s final name, specifications, or accessory compatibility. Tesla filings describe a strategy of using existing factories and production lines for more affordable products, but that strategy does not confirm the details of a particular car.
