Yes. EA says it used LiDAR scans to update five circuits in F1 25: Bahrain, Miami, Melbourne, Suzuka and Imola. The scans added detailed data about track surfaces, kerbs, barriers and elevation; Silverstone had already been digitally scanned before those five joined it.

What did LiDAR add to the game?
LiDAR stands for “Light Detection and Ranging.” EA says the scans produced millions of data points, capturing details such as asphalt surfaces, kerb heights and distances to barriers. EA also says the information helped reproduce bumps and elevation changes. Its launch release names nearby features including broadcast towers, barriers, trees and foliage. In practical terms, this is data EA says it used to build more detailed representations of the circuits and their surroundings. It does not establish that every part of every circuit was scanned or that LiDAR alone created each complete track asset.

What the scan claims do—and do not—establish
EA presents the scans as a way to improve fidelity and immersion. Creative Director Gavin Cooper described new technology as playing a “massive role” in raising realism and immersion in F1 25; that is EA’s characterization, not an independent performance finding. EA’s interview with Gavin Cooper
