The distinction matters: the Sixteen’s public record includes striking specifications and production announcements, but those announcements are not proof of a finished, road-legal car being delivered.
When did the Devel Sixteen debut?
Devel’s timeline dates the prototype unveiling to the Dubai International Motor Show in 2013. The title year “2014” is therefore not the reported public debut year. Devel says the idea was conceptualized in 2006 and research and development began in 2008; those dates are the company’s account of the project’s history. Devel’s timeline and a contemporaneous 2013 report by The National place the prototype’s unveiling at the Dubai show.
At the time, Rashid Al Attar, then vice-president of Defining Extreme Vehicles Car Industry, described it as a Dubai project and said it would be “completely designed and built in Dubai.” That was his statement in a 2013 interview, not evidence that every later vehicle was manufactured there.
What engine and performance figures does Devel claim?
Devel’s current Sixteen page describes a 12.3-litre engine with 81 mm quad turbochargers. Its Prototype Series page lists 5,007 horsepower, 3,757 torque, and a weight of 2,300 kg. The displayed torque figure has no unit, so it should not be read as a specific torque measurement such as lb-ft or Nm.

These numbers describe what Devel publishes, not verified performance achieved by a complete production car. The reviewed sources do not provide independent testing of the Sixteen’s claimed output or road performance.
Is the Devel Sixteen in production, and have customers received cars?
The public timeline records announcements, not independently confirmed customer deliveries. Devel says a “Production Series” was launched at the 2017 Dubai International Motor Show. In a 2018 interview, Devel president Majid Al Attar discussed development and a planned production debut. Those records document the company’s plans and presentation history; they do not establish that production proceeded as planned or that customers received cars. The National’s 2018 report described the proposed versions and timetable.

The available sources do not independently establish the number of customer cars delivered, whether a Sixteen is currently being offered for sale, or its present production status. Devel’s current pages continue to show Sixteen and prototype information, but that alone does not confirm sales or deliveries.
Which versions were announced?
In 2018, The National reported Devel plans for three configurations: a 2,000-hp V8, a 3,000-hp V16, and a 5,000-hp V16. These were company-reported plans and claims at that time, not proof of three available, independently verified road-car versions.
