Delta Air Lines and LATAM Airlines Group say their joint venture’s combined capacity in 2026 was about 31% higher than in 2023. The figure is an airline-reported comparison—not a measure of how much any one route’s schedule or a traveler’s choice of flights has grown.
What the 31% figure measures
In an October 5, 2026 update, Delta said the joint operation’s combined capacity had increased approximately 31% in 2026 compared with 2023. The announcement does not provide a fuller methodology for this particular comparison, so it should be read as the airlines’ reported network-wide figure rather than an independently reconciled capacity series. Delta’s announcement also counts 83,000 jointly operated flights, 20.8 million seats offered and 17.4 million customers carried from October 2022 through July 2026.
Why other capacity figures are different
Other partnership figures use different measures, geographies or comparison periods and should not be treated as updates to the 31% statistic.

The 2026 update also reports capacity growth compared with 2023 of nearly 33% in Brazil, 64% in Ecuador, 25% in Peru, and approximately 10% in Colombia and Chile. These are country-level comparisons in the airlines’ announcement, not separate forecasts or guarantees of a particular route’s frequency. LATAM’s 2025 Integrated Report says Argentina entered the joint venture’s scope in April 2025.

Which markets and routes are included?
Delta describes the joint operation as covering the United States and Canada, alongside Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. Its 2026 announcement refers to 28 joint routes connecting North and South America and gives these examples:
- São Paulo–Los Angeles
- Bogotá–Orlando
- Guayaquil–New York
- Buenos Aires–Miami
- Atlanta–Cartagena
- Rio de Janeiro–New York/JFK
- Lima–Salt Lake City
The announcement presents these as examples within the partnership’s network expansion; it does not say that every listed route began in 2026. LATAM’s 2025 report said its passengers had access to more than 200 Delta destinations in the United States and Canada, a count reported for that year rather than a verified current total.

Earning miles or points
Delta says SkyMiles and LATAM Pass members can earn miles or points on flights operated by either airline. The announcement does not set out every fare, booking or account condition, so check the programs’ current rules for a specific ticket.
Status-related benefits
Eligible customers may receive reciprocal benefits such as priority check-in and boarding, seat selection and baggage-related benefits. Eligibility matters: the announcement does not promise that every passenger or every status level receives every benefit. Confirm the applicable terms with Delta or LATAM before travel.

What the growth claim does—and does not—tell you
Higher combined capacity indicates that the airlines report more capacity across the joint operation than in the stated baseline year. It does not, by itself, establish lower fares, a particular increase in flights on an individual route, or improved on-time performance. The update’s counts of flights, seats and customers cover October 2022 through July 2026; they are cumulative operating totals for that interval, not annual figures.
LATAM Chief Commercial Officer Ramiro Alfonsin said the partnership had increased customer access and connectivity. He also said the share of passengers who would recommend traveling with LATAM and Delta had increased by 50% since launch. That is an executive-reported claim; the announcement does not provide survey methodology to assess it independently.
