In a February 2022 feature, New Atlas described a plain white delivery van that opens into a small cabin lined with fragrant hinoki wood, with furniture that rearranges to make a bed for two. The dimensions, equipment and prices below are those reported in that 2022 account, not confirmation of what is currently available.
How a Hijet becomes a log cabin
The Quokka’s contrast is its defining feature: a basic white van exterior surrounds a timber-finished living space. New Atlas reported that Mishima Daihatsu used hinoki, or Japanese cypress, sourced from the base of Mt. Fuji. The wood is cut and shaped into half-log-style surfaces along the interior walls.
The feature describes hinoki as fragrant and prized for durability and antibacterial properties. Those are the article’s characterizations, not independently established performance claims. Tall, vertical walls give the box-on-chassis cabin a more room-like shape than the van’s delivery-vehicle exterior suggests. Optional RV-style windows were also described.
Compact dimensions and a two-person bed
New Atlas reported the Quokka at just under 340 cm (134 in) long, 194 cm (76 in) high and 148 cm (58 in) wide. Inside, two lengthwise benches face a central wooden table. The bench tops lift to expose storage cubbies, keeping everyday gear beneath the seating.

At night, the table drops to bench height and four removable wooden crates fill the spaces between the furniture and toward the front cab seats. Together, they form a platform reported as 183 × 129 cm (72 × 51 in), described as sleeping space for two. Sleeping pads and bedding sit on top; the feature does not identify a particular pad or bedding model.

The table can also be taken outside for dining, with two crates serving as seats. A two-part tailgate and sliding doors on both sides were described as making access and ventilation easier.
Electrical setup and reported options
The electrical system described by New Atlas included a 100-Ah battery and DC and USB outlets. The feature listed a 200-Ah lithium battery, solar charging, an inverter, heating, air conditioning and window shades as options. A small microwave and refrigerator drawer appeared as compact food-preparation equipment.
