Yes. Nasser Al-Attiyah and navigator Fabian Lurquin won the 2026 Dakar Rally in a Dacia Sandrider, securing the Dacia Sandriders team’s first Dakar victory. The rally finished in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, on 17 January, after 13 days of competition. Al-Attiyah’s win was his sixth; for Lurquin, it was his first Dakar victory.
Who won the 2026 Dakar Rally?
Qatari driver Nasser Al-Attiyah and Belgian navigator Fabian Lurquin won the Ultimate category in car 299, a Dacia Sandrider entered by The Dacia Sandriders. The official Dakar finish caption identifies the crew and car at the Yanbu finish on 17 January 2026. Dakar Rally’s event coverage records the finish.
The FIA reported that Al-Attiyah secured victory by 9 minutes 42 seconds after leading for the final four days of the 13-day rally. The 2026 event opened the FIA World Rally-Raid Championship season. The FIA’s 17 January report provides those race details.
What was Dacia’s first-ever Dakar win?
The milestone belongs to the Dacia Sandriders team: 2026 was its first Dakar victory. It was not Al-Attiyah’s first win. The FIA says this was his sixth Dakar victory, and that he earned a record-equalling 50th event stage win along the way. Lurquin reached the top step of the Dakar podium for the first time. The FIA report distinguishes the team’s maiden success from the crew members’ individual records.

How did Dacia’s other crews finish?
All four Dacia Sandriders crews reached the finish. Their overall positions were:

Why the result matters
The win gave Dacia its first Dakar triumph in the rally’s Ultimate category, while adding a sixth personal victory for Al-Attiyah and a first Dakar win for Lurquin. The 9:42 margin and the other three cars’ top-11 finishes make the result a strong team showing, but the published figures do not establish that the winning crew dominated every stage.
