Elizabeth Pearce’s family announced that her funeral Mass would be held at St Joseph’s Church in Subiaco on March 6, 2025, after the 24-year-old died in a crash in Dalkeith, Perth. The service has since taken place. Rhys Bellinge later pleaded guilty to manslaughter and dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm under the influence of alcohol, and in February 2026 was sentenced to 10 years and six months in prison.

In an announcement published on February 23, 2025, Pearce’s family said a funeral Mass would be held at St Joseph’s Church in Subiaco on March 6. The announcement was reported by PerthNow.
The family’s statement, quoted by PerthNow, said: “Our beautiful, bright girl brought sunshine to our lives and we are now in darkness.”
Did the funeral take place?
Yes. 7NEWS reported that hundreds of family members and loved ones gathered for the service. Injured rideshare driver Muhammad Usman also attended.

What happened in the Dalkeith crash?
Pearce was a passenger in a rideshare Honda Jazz when it was struck by a Jaguar on Birdwood Parade in Dalkeith, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, on February 15, 2025. The location is in Western Australia, not Dalkeith in Scotland.
7NEWS reported that Usman suffered two broken legs and a broken hand in the collision.

What was the later court outcome?
In August 2025, Bellinge pleaded guilty to manslaughter and dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm under the influence of alcohol, according to ABC News. On February 24, 2026, he was sentenced to 10 years and six months in prison, with parole eligibility after eight and a half years, ABC News reported.
During sentencing, Supreme Court Judge Amanda Forrester described Bellinge as showing “aggression, contempt and a selfish disregard for other road users,” ABC News reported.
