The Dacia Hipster is an electric concept, not a confirmed production car. Dacia presents it as a compact four-seater for everyday trips, with a three-metre body and a boot that can expand from 70 to 500 litres. Its range and top speed are not consistently specified across Dacia’s official materials, and no price or ordering availability is established.

What is the Dacia Hipster?

Dacia introduced the Hipster Concept on 6 October 2025 as an alternative vision of simple, compact electric mobility. The global release describes a four-seat vehicle measuring 3.0 metres long, 1.53 metres high and 1.55 metres wide. Dacia says it is intended for everyday use in cities, suburbs and on country roads. These are manufacturer descriptions of a concept, not results from an independent road test. Dacia’s global announcement

Its design aims to keep the vehicle small and uncomplicated: the squared body places the wheels near the corners, the side windows slide, and the two-part tailgate opens wide. Inside, Dacia specifies 11 YouClip mounting points for accessories such as cup holders, armrests and lights. A docked smartphone is intended to act as the digital key and provide multimedia and navigation; audio comes from a compatible portable Bluetooth speaker.

In a later interview, Dacia Chief Designer Advanced Romain Gauvin described the phone as the key, audio system, navigation and connected dashboard. Renault Group frames the idea as sitting between license-free microcars and traditional city cars, while calling it a new category for Europe. That is a design ambition, not confirmation of a specific legal vehicle class. Renault Group’s interview with Gauvin

How far can the Dacia Hipster go?

Dacia’s global press release gives no numeric range, battery capacity, charging time or top speed. It says the concept is designed for everyday trips and suggests that two recharges per week would be sufficient, but does not specify the distance or usage assumptions behind that statement. Dacia’s global announcement

Dacia Italy’s official concept page lists a 200 km range, a maximum speed of 90 km/h and charging from a standard outlet. Treat these as figures displayed on that concept page, not independently tested results or confirmed specifications for a production vehicle. The Italian page does not establish a charging time. Dacia Italy’s Hipster Concept page

The two official sources therefore do not provide one complete, consistent technical specification: the global release offers a general charging-frequency description, while the Italian page supplies numeric range and speed claims. Neither establishes an independently measured range.

How many seats and how much boot space does it have?

The global announcement describes four seats and a variable boot capacity: 70 litres with four occupants, rising to 500 litres when the rear seat is folded for two occupants. Dacia Advanced Product Manager Stéphanie Chiron summarized the layout as “four proper seats and a boot that can be adjusted from 70 to 500 litres.” Dacia’s global announcement

The figures are concept specifications from Dacia; they do not establish independently measured usable space or guarantee the dimensions of any future production model.

What is Dacia claiming about weight and emissions?

Dacia says the Hipster Concept is 20% lighter than the Dacia Spring. It also says the project aims to halve its life-cycle carbon footprint compared with the best currently available four-seat electric vehicle. Dacia’s release identifies the comparison as involving M1 passenger cars, but the reviewed text does not provide a full methodology. These are manufacturer claims and an stated target, not independently validated results for a production car. Dacia’s global announcement

The same release cites Dacia’s figures that 94% of motorists in France travel less than 40 km per day and that average new-vehicle prices in Europe rose 77% between 2010 and 2024. Those figures provide the company’s rationale for exploring a smaller, simpler vehicle; they are not measurements of the Hipster itself. Dacia’s global announcement

Can you buy the Dacia Hipster?

The official materials described here present the Hipster as a concept. They do not confirm a production launch, price, order process or purchase date, so there is no established basis to treat it as an available new car. Its proposed position between microcars and city cars also does not establish how it would be classified or registered in any country.

Dacia YouClip accessories are a related part of the concept’s cabin design, but their mention does not mean the Hipster is for sale. Check current retailer listings and vehicle fitment before buying any accessory; compatibility with the concept is not proof of fit on another Dacia model.

What the concept says about Dacia’s approach

The Hipster combines a very small footprint with four seats and flexible luggage space, while shifting several cabin functions to a smartphone and portable speaker. That makes its central proposition less about a finalized technical specification than about how little a daily-use electric vehicle might need to provide, and how compactly it could provide it.

Gauvin called it “the most Dacia-esque project I have ever worked on,” adding that it had “the same societal impact as the Logan did 20 years ago” and involved “inventing something that does not exist today.” In a Renault Group interview, he also described the goal as “a positive, joyful car, one that makes you want to move without feeling guilty.” These are the designer’s characterizations of the concept, not evidence of a planned launch or validated environmental performance.
