Several Tesla Cybertrucks carrying parade marshals at New Orleans’s 2025 Krewe of Orpheus parade drew boos and thrown beads or other debris, according to contemporaneous reports. The trucks left the route early. One owner later said his truck’s B-pillar glass was shattered, but that damage has not been independently verified in the coverage.
What happened at the Orpheus parade?
The incident took place on Lundi Gras, the Monday evening before Mardi Gras, during the Krewe of Orpheus parade in New Orleans in 2025. Accounts published by Futurism and The Daily Dot on March 5 describe several Cybertrucks in the procession. They were reportedly being used to transport parade marshals or officials as part of a coordinated effort involving an out-of-state Cybertruck club.
Reporting described people in the crowd booing and throwing beads and other objects, including beer cans in Futurism’s account. The trucks left the route early. The Guardian’s later summary said police tried to shield a Cybertruck as it departed. The number of trucks and the precise sequence of events are not established by a complete official record.
Why were Cybertrucks there?
The vehicles were reportedly assigned to carry parade marshals or officials, rather than appearing as a separate product display. A marshal quoted by The Daily Dot said they did not know the assigned vehicles would be Cybertrucks until they were given the assignment. Futurism also reported the marshal’s description of the reception as “boos and attacks from start to evacuation,” relayed through that outlet’s account.

Was a Cybertruck window broken?
Josh “Pappy” Hazel, a Cybertruck owner, said his truck’s B-pillar glass was shattered during the episode. The Daily Dot reported that Hazel described a two-hour drive home and quoted his post characterizing the incident as assault and vandalism. Those are Hazel’s claims and wording; the coverage does not provide an independent inspection establishing the damage or its cause.
Futurism quoted Gizmodo journalist Matthew Gault describing beads repeatedly ricocheting off the truck as “a constant din.” That account supports that beads struck the vehicle, but it does not establish that beads caused the reported glass damage. The reviewed reporting does not cite a police finding, official parade statement, or inspection record confirming a crime or vehicle failure.

Why did people boo the trucks?
Some coverage framed the reaction as political backlash aimed at Elon Musk or Tesla. That is an interpretation of the episode, not a documented motive for every person in the crowd. The available accounts describe boos and thrown objects, but do not establish why each person participated or provide a measured view of public opinion in New Orleans.
