The trip relied on charging access arranged along the route, including Level 2 Tesla Wall Connectors placed with local businesses—not on a verified, continuous public charging corridor.
What the expedition reported
Futurism reported that two Cybertrucks reached the end of the Dempster Highway at the Arctic Ocean after traveling from Florida. The outlet put the journey at 5,500 miles and said it concluded on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Futurism published its account on September 6, 2024. The claim that the team traveled without a generator comes from expedition member Bearded Tesla, not an independent equipment audit. Futurism quoted him saying, “This is 100 percent electric, no generators of any kind,” and quoted another team member, Teslatino, posting: “Two Cybertrucks at the end of the road.” These statements document what the team said and announced; they are not a published telemetry record.
How the trucks were charged
The reported solution involved working with local businesses to place donated Tesla Wall Connectors along the route. Futurism described the units as Level 2 chargers designed for home use. A separate Teslarati report said charger details were shared on PlugShare and with Tesla for possible navigation integration. That corroborates the reported planning effort, but it does not show that Tesla added every charger to navigation or that the chargers remain available. Teslarati’s September 8, 2024 report
The expedition therefore demonstrates a reported trip supported by route-specific charging arrangements. It does not establish that a traveler can now follow the same route using a continuously available network of public chargers. Reports of historical placement do not confirm that a unit is still installed, operational, compatible with a particular vehicle, or accessible to the public.

What the reports do—and do not—establish

Before planning travel, verify each intended charging location directly and check connector compatibility, access rules, operating status, and whether charging is available to non-expedition travelers. Cabin Radio later reported that Tuktoyaktuk installed its first Tesla chargers and that two of the three Teslas there that summer were with the Cybertruck expedition. The available reports do not provide a common test dataset for comparing this trip with another EV expedition. A meaningful comparison would need the route and distance, date and seasonal conditions, charger types and locations, documented stops and energy added, backup power or support vehicles, and a clear distinction between participant statements and independently verifiable records.
