How big is the CUPRA Tavascan battery? The May 2026 CUPRA catalogue lists three versions: a 61 kWh-labeled LFP model with 58 kWh capacity shown separately, and Endurance and VZ models labeled 82 kWh with 77 kWh capacity shown separately. The same catalogue estimates 11 kW AC charging at six hours for the smaller battery and eight hours for either 82 kWh version. Its DC estimates are 26 minutes at 105 kW for the 61 kWh model and 29 minutes at 135 kW for the 82 kWh models. These are indicative figures, not guarantees, and specifications vary by country.

CUPRA Tavascan battery and charging specifications at a glance

The most useful starting point is CUPRA’s May 2026 Tavascan catalogue. It separates the battery size used in a variant name from a capacity figure elsewhere in the technical data. The table below preserves both figures and the catalogue’s charging and WLTP estimates.

Tavascan 61 kWh LFP, 61 kWh 58 kWh 6 hours at 11 kW 26 minutes at 105 kW 403–441 km
Tavascan Endurance 82 kWh NMC, 82 kWh 77 kWh 8 hours at 11 kW 29 minutes at 135 kW 468–557 km
Tavascan VZ 82 kWh NMC, 82 kWh 77 kWh 8 hours at 11 kW 29 minutes at 135 kW 451–533 km

CUPRA labels these technical data as indicative. The company also says its global range and specifications vary by country, so a vehicle advertised in your market may not match every row exactly.

Why does a 61 kWh Tavascan show 58 kWh capacity?

The two figures answer different questions. The 61 kWh wording identifies the battery variant, while the catalogue’s separate 58 kWh figure is the capacity it reports in the technical data. Similarly, both 82 kWh versions have 77 kWh listed in that capacity field. Do not add the figures together or treat the label as a promise that every kilowatt-hour is available to the driver.

LFP in the 61 kWh version

LFP is the chemistry identified for the 61 kWh-labeled Tavascan. Its catalogue entry has the lowest capacity and the shortest stated AC and DC charging estimates, as well as the narrowest WLTP range interval in the line-up.

NMC in Endurance and VZ

Endurance and VZ are identified as NMC 82 kWh versions. Their listed capacity, charging-power estimates and charging times are the same in the May 2026 catalogue, while their WLTP intervals differ. Chemistry alone does not determine the range you will see: equipment, powertrain configuration, wheels, weather and driving conditions also matter.

How long does it take to charge a CUPRA Tavascan?

AC charging at home or a destination charger

The catalogue’s AC estimates assume an 11 kW supply. Under that stated test condition, the 61 kWh-labeled version is listed at six hours and the 82 kWh versions at eight hours. CUPRA describes the figures as estimates, so they should be used for planning rather than as a stopwatch guarantee.

The Tavascan is described as supporting up to 11 kW AC charging. A lower-powered installation will take longer than the catalogue estimate; the vehicle cannot charge faster than the supply, the car’s onboard charger and the installation’s safe limit allow. Before buying equipment, have an installer check the property’s electrical service and confirm the exact vehicle specification sold in your country.

DC fast charging

For the 61 kWh-labeled version, the catalogue gives a 26-minute estimate at 105 kW. For Endurance and VZ, it gives 29 minutes at 135 kW. A compatible public charger may advertise a higher maximum output, but the car will draw only what its charging system requests at that moment. Power normally changes during a session as the battery fills, so a charger’s headline rating is not the same as a constant charging rate.

Why another CUPRA page says 28 minutes

CUPRA’s Tavascan Endurance specification page reports 77 kWh capacity, an estimated eight hours for 0–100% AC charging at 11 kW, and 28 minutes for an estimated 10–80% DC charge at 135 kW. The May 2026 catalogue reports 29 minutes for the 82 kWh versions without presenting that same wording in the table. These numbers should not be silently merged: they come from different CUPRA pages and the DC figures use different stated context. Both are estimates that CUPRA says can vary with weather and battery age and condition.

Can you charge a Tavascan at home?

Yes, CUPRA describes home-charging solutions and up to 11 kW AC capability. Its June 2025 catalogue discusses the CUPRA Charger 2, public charging and the My CUPRA app. The material does not establish one connector specification or universal third-party charger compatibility for every market, so verify those details for the exact car and country before installation.

Home-charging checklist

  1. Confirm the local car specification. Ask the retailer which AC inlet, charging equipment and maximum AC rate apply to the VIN or trim being ordered.
  2. Arrange a site survey. An electrician should assess the incoming supply, cable route, protective devices, earthing and mounting location. An 11 kW charger generally requires a suitable three-phase supply; the installer must confirm what your property can safely provide.
  3. Choose equipment as a category, not by an assumed compatibility claim. Select a locally approved home EV charger whose connector, communications and electrical protections match the vehicle and local rules.
  4. Set a routine in the car or app where supported. CUPRA identifies the My CUPRA app as part of its charging ecosystem. Available controls and labels can vary by market and software version.
  5. Use the owner’s manual for the physical connection sequence. CUPRA’s Tavascan manual page lets you choose year, edition and language. Follow the manual supplied for your vehicle rather than a procedure from another market.
  6. Check the session before leaving. Confirm that the vehicle indicates charging, the charger shows no fault and the cable is locked if your equipment requires it.

The retrieved CUPRA material does not specify what cables are included with every version. Confirm cable contents, emergency-release instructions and local installation requirements with the dealer and installer.

What range does the Tavascan have?

The May 2026 catalogue lists WLTP intervals rather than one universal number. The 61 kWh-labeled version is shown at 403–441 km, Endurance at 468–557 km and VZ at 451–533 km. A range interval is more informative than a single headline because the approved result changes with the vehicle’s tested configuration and equipment.

Endurance and VZ figures on CUPRA’s model pages

CUPRA’s Endurance page presents the 77 kWh capacity and the charging estimates described above. The VZ specification page also lists 77 kWh, eight hours of AC charging and 28 minutes of DC charging, and displays a 513 km WLTP range for the specification shown there. That point figure does not replace the May 2026 catalogue’s 451–533 km VZ interval; page updates or market-specific equipment can account for the different presentation.

Why your real-world distance can be lower or higher

CUPRA names terrain, weather, vehicle load, battery age and condition, optional equipment, climate use and driving style as factors that affect range. Cold weather, sustained high speed, steep roads, heavy cargo and frequent heating or air-conditioning use can increase energy consumption. A light load, moderate speeds and favorable temperatures can produce a result closer to the efficient end of the operating range. WLTP is a standardized comparison test, not a guarantee for an individual journey.

Which Tavascan battery version fits which driver?

Choose the 61 kWh-labeled version when charging speed and lower capacity are acceptable

This version has the LFP battery label, the 58 kWh capacity figure, the lowest WLTP interval and the lower stated DC power. It can suit drivers whose daily mileage is modest and who can recharge regularly at home or work. Its shorter catalogue charging estimates may also be useful when a car is routinely topped up on an 11 kW AC connection, although the required installation still has to be available.

Choose Endurance for the longest catalogue range

Endurance has the 82 kWh NMC label, 77 kWh capacity figure and the highest WLTP interval in the May 2026 table. It is the logical version to examine first if long motorway trips and fewer charging stops matter more than minimizing battery size. Confirm the exact equipment and market specification because the catalogue says availability varies by country.

Choose VZ only after checking its performance equipment and range listing

VZ shares the 82 kWh NMC and 77 kWh capacity figures with Endurance, but its catalogue WLTP interval is lower. The displayed VZ web-page figure is 513 km for a particular specification. Compare the actual vehicle’s wheels, options and powertrain with the one being quoted rather than assuming every VZ has the same approved range.

How to plan an AC or DC charging stop

  1. Start with the usable journey distance you need. Use the relevant catalogue interval as a planning boundary, then allow extra margin for weather, terrain, traffic and payload.
  2. For overnight charging, check the site’s power. The catalogue estimates assume 11 kW AC. If the property or destination supplies less, extend the planned dwell time.
  3. For a road trip, verify the public station’s actual output. The 105 kW and 135 kW figures are the catalogue’s stated DC conditions, not a promise that every station will deliver them.
  4. Allow for the charging window. The Endurance page’s 28-minute figure is specifically an estimated 10–80% session, while the catalogue’s 29-minute entry is presented differently. A session outside the stated window can take longer.
  5. Check conditions before relying on the estimate. CUPRA specifically identifies weather and battery age and condition as variables. A cold or heavily used battery may charge more slowly.

What to do if charging is slower than expected

The AC session is taking longer than the table

  • Confirm that the supply is actually delivering the power assumed by the estimate and that another load has not reduced available capacity.
  • Check whether the vehicle or charger is set to a lower current, delayed schedule or departure-time target.
  • Inspect the cable and connectors for visible damage or a latched connection, then follow the local manual’s fault-reset procedure.
  • Remember that the catalogue’s six- and eight-hour figures are estimates at 11 kW, not universal times for every home installation.

The DC station is not reaching its advertised power

  • Read the station’s live status and confirm that the plug is working and authorized for your session.
  • Check the battery’s state of charge and temperature; charging power can change during the session, and CUPRA warns that weather and battery condition affect estimates.
  • Try another connector or station if the charger reports a hardware fault.
  • Use the vehicle’s market-specific manual or contact CUPRA assistance if the car repeatedly refuses to start a session.

How to verify the figures before ordering

Because CUPRA says its global range and specifications vary by country, ask the retailer for the local price-list or technical sheet for the exact model year, trim, motor, wheels and options. Check four items separately: the battery label, the capacity figure, the AC/DC charging limits and the approved WLTP range. Do not rely on a badge such as “82 kWh” alone.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For the latest owner information, select the vehicle’s year, edition and language on CUPRA’s official manual page. Keep the manual and charger installation documentation with the car; they contain the market-specific operating and safety instructions that the general catalogue cannot provide.

Bottom line

The CUPRA Tavascan is offered in the May 2026 catalogue with one 61 kWh-labeled LFP battery (58 kWh capacity shown) and two 82 kWh-labeled NMC batteries (77 kWh shown). At an 11 kW AC supply, CUPRA estimates six or eight hours depending on version; its catalogue DC estimates are 26 minutes at 105 kW or 29 minutes at 135 kW. WLTP range spans 403–441 km, 468–557 km and 451–533 km across the listed versions. Treat all of those figures as market-specific estimates, and confirm the exact vehicle and home-installation requirements before purchase.
