The CUPRA Raval is a compact electric hatchback with a genuinely sporty edge, but the version you choose matters. Early drives of the VZ praise its punch and grip, while a separate 19-inch-wheel test car felt jarring over rough surfaces. CUPRA quotes up to 440 km of WLTP range for the current model page, and Euro NCAP’s five-star result applies only with the optional Safety Pack; standard equipment earned four stars.
What is the CUPRA Raval?
The Raval is CUPRA’s small, all-electric hatchback, built on the MEB+ platform with front-wheel drive. CUPRA says it is designed, developed and produced at Martorell, Barcelona. Its mix of compact dimensions, multiple battery and power outputs, and a sporty VZ flagship makes the trim choice central to any assessment.
There is a market-status wrinkle: CUPRA’s Italian update describes a local launch, while its global product page still says the Raval and Raval Plus are pending homologation and not available for sale. Availability and the specification on sale therefore depend on country; check the current local CUPRA site and price list.
Which Raval version makes sense?
CUPRA’s April 2026 factsheet gives four launch-era configurations. Its figures are manufacturer estimates, and regional lineups or current values may differ. The current global page separately advertises up to 440 km of range, so do not treat a launch-era trim figure as interchangeable with that headline.

The current CUPRA product page lists up to 226 HP, 0–100 km/h in 6.8 seconds and up to 440 km WLTP range. For the 52 kWh package, it estimates a 10–80% DC charge in 24 minutes using 105 kW DC. These are manufacturer figures, not guarantees; the page’s VZ range span is 440–379 km, illustrating how version and specification affect the headline. Check the exact wheel and tyre combination when comparing cars.
For a UK example only, CUPRA’s 2026 list starts at £26,995; it lists a 52 kWh V1 at £28,495 with the Electric Car Grant applied. These are local list figures and may change. They should not be compared directly with CUPRA’s launch-era expectation of around €26,000, which relates to another market, date and price basis.

How does it drive?
VZ: lively and grippy in an early drive
TechRadar’s 2 August 2026 VZ drive reported strong acceleration, good grip in Cupra mode and configurable Dynamic Chassis Control. The writer found Eco and Comfort quiet and comfortable at highway speed. The report averaged about 4.5 miles per kWh over that single day of mixed driving; it is an observation from one car and one test, not a dependable real-world efficiency forecast.
Ride comfort depends on the setup
Autocar’s 19-inch-wheel test car felt taut, with a touch of jarring over speed bumps and potholes even in Comfort with adaptive dampers. Autocar noted it still needed to try UK roads. Its suggestion that the 52 kWh V2 could be a balance of price, range, equipment and performance is a provisional view: that version lacks the VZ’s electronic slip differential and adaptive dampers, so its behaviour may differ. The two reports point to a likely trade-off between sporty control and bump comfort, not a settled verdict for every Raval.

What range and charging should you expect?
WLTP is a standardised test figure, not a promise of the distance a driver will cover. CUPRA says range changes with factors including equipment, conditions and driving style. The broad difference between the launch-era battery options is useful for choosing a configuration, but real trips depend on the exact car and use. TechRadar’s one-day 4.5 miles per kWh result should not be projected across seasons or driving patterns.
CUPRA’s current page gives an estimated 24-minute 10–80% DC charge for the 52 kWh package at 105 kW DC. That is a manufacturer estimate for the stated pack and charging conditions; it is not a charging-curve verification. CUPRA also describes home and public charging. A home charger can be relevant to ownership, but compatibility and installation depend on the local vehicle specification and the property’s electrical setup.

Is the Raval practical as a small car?
CUPRA’s current page lists a 441-litre boot and five seats, strong headline luggage capacity for a compact hatch. The published seat count and boot figure do not establish how comfortable the rear seats will be for particular passengers; check the car in person if rear-seat space is a priority.
The current product page gives dimensions of 4,046 mm long, 1,784 mm wide and 1,514 mm high. CUPRA’s April 2026 factsheet instead lists 1,518 mm height, so the height figures should not be blended; confirm the relevant local specification.

Does the Raval have a five-star safety rating?
Not in every configuration. Euro NCAP’s 2026 assessment gives the standard-equipment Raval four stars; the optional Safety Pack version receives five. The pack includes predictive adaptive cruise control and front traffic alert. When comparing cars, verify that the specific vehicle has the pack rather than relying on a five-star headline.
For the Safety Pack assessment, Euro NCAP reported category scores of 72% for Safety Driving, 77% for Crash Avoidance, 91% for Crash Protection and 95% for Post-Crash Safety. It also identified marginal chest protection in the more severe side-pole test and the absence of a child-presence detection system. These details sit alongside, rather than erase, the overall rating.
What should buyers verify before choosing one?
- Confirm which trims and battery versions are actually on sale in your country.
- Compare the WLTP figure for the exact trim, wheel and tyre specification rather than using a range headline alone.
- Check whether the car has adaptive dampers and the VZ electronic slip differential if those features affect your choice.
- Confirm the Safety Pack is fitted if you are shopping on the basis of the five-star Euro NCAP result.
- Compare local prices after incentives and check whether the quoted figure includes the equipment you want.
The Raval’s sporting character is credible from the early VZ drives, but the comfort evidence is mixed and configuration-sensitive. The available reports do not establish long-term reliability, winter range, or a controlled comparison with rivals such as the Renault 5 or Mini Cooper Electric.
