A car crashed through the front wall of a house on Thorburn Avenue in Beechboro at about 1:30 a.m. on June 15, 2012, entering the front lounge. House-sitter Jenny Gibson and her husband were inside but escaped injury, according to contemporaneous reports.
What happened on Thorburn Avenue
Gibson was house-sitting at her brother’s home with her husband when the collision woke them. She told ABC News: “We heard this almighty crash and we jumped out of bed, come out and the car was in the front lounge.” The ABC report described the car breaking through the house’s front wall.
ABC News reported the crash on June 15, 2012. A separate report by The West Australian identified the vehicle as a Nissan Patrol and said it caused major structural damage.
Occupants escaped injury; the house was badly damaged
The West Australian reported that the occupants were home and escaped injury. The report said the State Emergency Service was expected to help prop up the roof, indicating the extent of the structural damage at the time. It does not establish what repairs were later made or when the house became safe to occupy.

What was reported about the driver
ABC reported that the driver got out and ran away, and was later arrested. The West Australian said police had the driver in custody. The available reports do not establish the driver’s identity, motive, whether charges followed, or the outcome of any court proceedings.
