The report says the injured pedestrians were taken to hospital and describes charges against two men, but does not establish the eventual court outcomes.
What happened in Cloverdale?
PerthNow reported that at about 11:30 p.m. on a Friday, a 46-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were walking on Sydenham Street when a black MG station sedan allegedly mounted the kerb and struck them. The reported driver, a 46-year-old man known to the woman, allegedly left the scene.
The report says both pedestrians suffered serious ankle injuries and were taken by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital. It identifies the night as a Friday but does not provide a verified calendar date for the incident.
How did the helpers become involved?
A 32-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman stopped in a SsangYong Rexton to help the injured couple. They had a child in the vehicle, PerthNow reported.

A separate man, also known to the injured woman, arrived after hearing about the collision. According to the report, he mistook the people helping for those involved in the crash and confronted them. The helpers tried to leave, but the man allegedly chased their Rexton and rammed it several times as he followed them through Cloverdale, Belmont and Redcliffe.
The pursuit reportedly ended on Hardey Road in Belmont. Police arrived shortly afterward and arrested the 30-year-old Belmont man, PerthNow reported. The article does not say whether the helpers or child were injured.

What charges did PerthNow report?
The report said the 30-year-old man accused of pursuing the Rexton was charged with reckless driving and exceeding 0.08 grams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood.
It also said a 46-year-old Redcliffe man alleged to have been involved in the initial collision was charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning bodily harm and one count of failing to report an incident occasioning bodily harm. The article described court appearances as upcoming when it was published; it does not verify convictions or later court outcomes.

What is known about the investigation?
PerthNow said Cannington detectives were continuing their investigation at the time of its 23 December 2024 report. That is the status reported then, not confirmation of the investigation’s current status. No case-specific police or court statement, or official quotation, is included in the available account.
