For the current UK range, both the Citroën C3 hatchback and the larger C3 Aircross are presented in COLLECTION, MAX and OUTDOOR editions. COLLECTION is not a bare-bones specification: it includes the main touchscreen, wireless smartphone mirroring, parking aids and a substantial safety suite. MAX is the comfort, lighting, wheel and technology upgrade. OUTDOOR is primarily the style-led choice, with model-specific exterior treatment and a dedicated interior; on the Aircross it also brings floating roof bars intended for carrying extra kit.
Those names are only a starting point. Equipment can change with petrol, hybrid or electric powertrains, and with the Aircross seating configuration. Compare cars with the same engine, body and seat layout, then confirm the exact build in Citroën’s current Price and Specification Guide or live UK configurator before ordering.

What the three trim names mean
Citroën’s current UK model pages use the same broad hierarchy for both vehicles:

- COLLECTION: the core specification, with useful connectivity, comfort, safety and parking equipment already included.
- MAX: adds the features most likely to affect daily comfort and convenience, including upgraded wheels, climate control, navigation and selected driver-assistance equipment.
- OUTDOOR: adds distinctive exterior styling and a dedicated cabin. It is not simply a MAX with a different badge, and some listed items depend on powertrain.
The C3 is the small five-door city car. The C3 Aircross is the more spacious SUV-style model, with a different practical brief and, depending on configuration, a choice of seating layouts. Trim equipment should therefore be assessed within each model rather than treated as interchangeable.

Citroën C3 COLLECTION: the standard equipment
Exterior and lighting
The C3 COLLECTION is listed with 17-inch black alloy wheels, black wheel-arch extensions, Infra Red colour clips and a two-tone roof. LED front lighting is included. These details give the entry edition a deliberately finished appearance rather than an unfinished steel-wheel look.
Cabin and connectivity
Inside, Citroën lists blue cloth Advanced Comfort seats, COLLECTION floor mats and a 10.25-inch central touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto are included, so a compatible phone can provide familiar apps and navigation without a cable. A head-up display projects relevant driving information into the driver’s view.
Driving, safety and parking

Wheels, glazing and exterior lighting
MAX replaces the COLLECTION wheel design with diamond-cut bi-tone alloy wheels. It adds an electrically heated windscreen, integrated front fog lights and LED rear lights. An auto-dipping rear-view mirror helps reduce glare from following traffic.

Seats, heating and climate control
The seat upholstery changes to Metropolitan Grey cloth and leather-effect Advanced Comfort seats. MAX adds automatic air conditioning and a heated steering wheel. Heated front seats are listed for electric and hybrid versions; check the specification for the particular engine because that item is not stated as universal across the range.
Navigation and charging
Connected 3D navigation is included, alongside a wireless smartphone charger. This is the main technology distinction from COLLECTION: the car has its own integrated navigation system as well as wireless phone mirroring, and the charging pad can reduce cable clutter for compatible devices.
Choose MAX when you will regularly use heated equipment, automatic climate control, built-in navigation or the upgraded wheel and lighting package. The exact combination remains powertrain-dependent, so the configurator’s equipment summary for the selected car takes precedence over a generic trim description.
Citroën C3 OUTDOOR: the style and lifestyle edition
Outdoor Pack and exterior identity
The C3 OUTDOOR is listed with 17-inch matte-finish MAGNETITE wheels, an Outdoor Pack and Infra Red colour clips. The pack brings specific bumpers, skid plates, tailgate detailing and decals. A two-tone roof and 3D LED rear lights complete the visual treatment.
Dedicated cabin and convenience equipment
OUTDOOR has its own interior ambience, Advanced Comfort seats and model-specific mats. The listed convenience specification includes 3D navigation, front parking sensors, a heated steering wheel and heated front seats. Keyless entry and start is identified for the hybrid version, so it should not be assumed on petrol or electric cars without checking the selected configuration.

The C3 OUTDOOR makes sense when the distinctive design is a priority. It should not automatically be treated as the most highly equipped C3 in every technical respect: individual comfort and assistance features still need to be checked against the powertrain-specific build.
Citroën C3 Aircross COLLECTION: equipment for the larger model
Exterior and practical specification
The Aircross COLLECTION uses 17-inch Aragonite black painted alloy wheels, black wheel-arch extensions, roof rails and Infra Red colour clips. Tinted rear glass and a two-tone roof are listed, with the roof treatment subject to the chosen body colour.
Technology and driver support
A 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard on the listed specification. High-beam assist and driver-attention alert are included. Keyless entry and start is listed on hybrid and electric versions; confirm whether it is present on the petrol configuration you are considering.
The Aircross COLLECTION therefore covers the core connectivity expected in a family SUV, while retaining the model’s exterior roof-rail treatment. Its equipment list is not identical to the C3’s: features such as the C3 head-up display, suspension description or reversing-camera wording should not be carried across unless they appear on the Aircross build sheet.

Wheels, roof and weather equipment

Verify the final equipment list because the manufacturer’s page does not make every item universal across all engines and seat configurations.
Citroën C3 Aircross OUTDOOR: styling with carrying potential
Exterior details
The Aircross OUTDOOR has dedicated styling and 17-inch diamond-cut wheels. Its floating roof bars are specifically described as making it easier to carry extra kit. That makes this edition materially different from a purely cosmetic appearance pack for a buyer who plans to use roof-mounted luggage or sports equipment.
Interior character and space
Citroën describes Advanced Comfort seats and a spacious cabin for the OUTDOOR. The model’s seating layout and cargo needs should still be assessed separately from trim: a family deciding between five- and seven-seat configurations has a practical question that a trim badge cannot answer.

How to choose between COLLECTION, MAX and OUTDOOR
Start with the vehicle and powertrain
First decide whether the C3 hatchback’s smaller footprint suits you or whether the Aircross’s additional space and SUV body are necessary. Then choose petrol, hybrid or electric power. Equipment such as heated seats and keyless entry is explicitly tied to certain powertrains, so a trim comparison made across different engines can produce a misleading result.
Match equipment to repeated use
- Choose COLLECTION if wireless phone integration, a large touchscreen, standard safety assistance and rear parking support cover your routine.
- Choose MAX if you will use integrated 3D navigation, heated equipment, automatic climate control, wireless charging or blind-spot and front-parking assistance frequently.
- Choose OUTDOOR if its bumpers, wheels, decals, dedicated interior or roof-bar arrangement are the features that matter most to you.
These are equipment-based priorities, not a claim that one trim is universally better value. A feature used every day can justify an upgrade more convincingly than a feature selected only because it appears on a higher rung of the range.
Separate trim from carrying and seating needs
For the Aircross, assess the number of seats, luggage volume and the type of kit you carry before comparing wheel designs or upholstery. The OUTDOOR floating roof bars may be useful for roof-mounted equipment, but they do not establish the permitted load, accessory compatibility or fitment for every model year. Confirm the roof-bar system, weight limits and approved accessories for the exact car.

Prices, availability and model-year cautions
The UK Citroën Store configurator accessed on 13 October 2026 displayed C3 choices including COLLECTION, Plus and Max, and C3 Aircross choices including COLLECTION and Max. The model pages also describe OUTDOOR editions. This difference means a trim can be presented in model-page material while not appearing as a selectable choice for every powertrain or promotion in the live store.
Displayed prices vary by engine, hybrid or electric system, body configuration and offer. Treat them as volatile rather than as a permanent trim price. Check the configured on-the-road price, any offer conditions and what is included in the latest Price and Specification Guide on the day you order.
Do not combine older-generation names such as YOU!, PLUS, Shine or Shine Plus with the current range. Identify the model generation, model year, powertrain and, for the Aircross, the five- or seven-seat body before comparing equipment. A retailer can confirm a point that the general web page leaves conditional.
A reliable way to check a car before ordering
- Select one model: C3 hatchback or C3 Aircross; do not compare a C3 MAX list with an Aircross COLLECTION list and call the difference a trim upgrade.
- Select the exact powertrain: petrol, hybrid or electric, including transmission where offered.
- Select seating and body options: especially for the Aircross, where practical capacity changes the buying decision.
- Open the live equipment summary: record the wheels, roof, seats, climate system, navigation, parking sensors, cameras, charging equipment and assistance systems shown for that configuration.
- Check conditional wording: phrases such as “on hybrid and electric versions” or “subject to body colour” are part of the specification, not optional footnotes.
- Verify price and terms: compare the current configured on-the-road figure with the latest guide and ask the retailer to confirm any item that is not explicitly listed.
This process avoids the most common error: treating a headline trim description as a promise that every engine and body configuration has identical equipment.
