There is no single oil grade established for every Pentastar installation. The vehicle and model year matter: the 2020 Pacifica manual specifies SAE 0W-20 meeting FCA MS-6395, while the 2023 Chrysler 300 manual specifies SAE 5W-20 full synthetic meeting MS-6395. The 300 manual also allows SAE 5W-30 meeting that standard if the specified 5W-20 is unavailable.

Use the exact owner’s manual and oil-cap label for the vehicle being serviced; do not choose a grade based only on the engine name. The Pacifica manual recommends a Mopar engine oil filter. For the specific 2021 Chrysler 300 context, the manual says that if a Mopar filter is unavailable, an alternative should meet or exceed SAE/USCAR-36 Filter Performance Requirements. That guidance should not be generalized to every Pentastar vehicle.
How much oil does a 3.6 Pentastar hold?
Capacity is also vehicle-specific. The 2023 Chrysler 300 owner’s manual gives 6 quarts (5.6 L) with filter for its 3.6L engine. The 2019 Dodge Challenger owner’s manual gives the same figure for its 3.6L. These are model-year-specific examples, not a universal capacity for all Pentastar applications.
