The latest Horner-specific account in the sources cited here is from April 15, 2026; his plans after that date are not established.
Is Christian Horner still at Red Bull?
No. Le Monde reported that Red Bull removed Horner from his operational duties effective July 9, 2025, and appointed Laurent Mekies to lead Red Bull Racing. That is the reported end date for Horner’s operational role; it does not establish what he may do next.
Le Monde’s July 9, 2025 report also says Horner had been investigated in 2024 and cleared following the internal process. The report concerns that process and the subsequent change in his role; it does not provide a basis for presenting disputed allegations as established conduct.
What did “under pressure” mean in the 2024 report?
It referred to sporting pressure. After the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, Formula 1 reported on Red Bull’s car-balance problems, its reduced lead in the constructors’ championship and the threat to its championship campaigns. Horner said: “With the pace that we had today, both championships absolutely will be under pressure, for sure.” The championships—not his job—were the subject of that statement.

Formula 1’s September 2, 2024 report documents the performance concerns. It does not establish that Red Bull had made an imminent employment decision about Horner. Sporting vulnerability and a leader’s job security are related questions, but evidence of the first is not proof of the second.
What was the 2024 investigation, and what did Horner say?
In February 2024, the Associated Press reported that Ford was awaiting the outcome of Red Bull’s independent investigation. Horner denied the accusations, saying: “Some allegations have been made which I fully deny.” AP also quoted him saying, “My role obviously continues.” Both comments describe his position at that time; neither describes his later status.

The AP report does not reproduce the investigation’s underlying evidence or full findings. Le Monde later reported that Horner was cleared through Red Bull’s internal process. The available reporting therefore supports careful attribution: the allegations were disputed, Horner denied them, and the internal process was reported to have cleared him. It does not support stating the accusations as fact.

What did Horner say about leaving Red Bull?
In an April 15, 2026 report, AS recounted Horner’s retrospective comments about the suddenness of his departure. As quoted in Spanish, he said: “Siento una verdadera sensación de pérdida y dolor. Todo fue bastante repentino. Realmente no tuve oportunidad de despedirme como es debido. Nunca imaginé estar en esta situación.” AS rendered this as a feeling of loss and pain, that events were sudden, and that he had no proper chance to say goodbye.
Horner also attributed the decision to Oliver Mintzlaff, with Helmut Marko advising. Those are Horner’s reported account of the decision and his view of the roles involved, not independently confirmed findings about Red Bull’s decision-making.

Read AS’s April 15, 2026 report. It is the latest dated Horner-specific report in the sources cited here. It does not establish developments after that date or whether he plans to return to Formula 1.
