Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallChoose the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt if your priority is the lowest listed starting MSRP, a shorter advertised public DC fast-charge window, or extra rear-seat legroom. Choose the 2026 Nissan LEAF S+ if you need the longest published EPA range, more measured cargo space behind the rear seat, or wireless smartphone integration. The right answer depends less on the badge than on your driving pattern, charging access, passengers, cargo and preferred technology.
This is not a same-model-year comparison: Chevrolet’s 2027 Bolt is being compared with Nissan’s 2026 LEAF. Prices below are manufacturer figures rather than out-the-door quotes, and range and charging numbers are estimates tied to specific trims and test windows.

At a glance: which EV fits which driver?
| Buyer priority | Better starting point | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Lowest listed MSRP | 2027 Chevrolet Bolt LT | Chevrolet lists a lower base MSRP than the LEAF S+ figure, although destination, dealer pricing, taxes and incentives can change the final amount. |
| Maximum published EPA range | 2026 Nissan LEAF S+ | The S+ has the highest EPA estimate in the LEAF range; higher LEAF trims give up some range. |
| Shorter advertised DC fast-charge stop | 2027 Chevrolet Bolt | Its manufacturer-stated charge window is measured from 10% to 80% and is shorter than Chevrolet’s comparison figure for the LEAF. |
| Rear-seat passenger space | 2027 Chevrolet Bolt | Edmunds measured 7.3 inches more rear legroom in the Bolt. |
| Cargo with the rear seats in use | 2026 Nissan LEAF | Edmunds measured more space behind the rear seat in the LEAF. |
| Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto | 2026 Nissan LEAF | Edmunds reports those wireless smartphone features for the LEAF; the Bolt uses Google built-in instead. |
| Hands-free highway assistance option | 2027 Chevrolet Bolt | Chevrolet lists available Super Cruise. Availability depends on the selected configuration and the equipped road network. |
Those are useful tie-breakers, not universal winners. A commuter with dependable home charging may value purchase price and cabin space more than a 50- or 60-mile difference in a laboratory estimate. Someone who regularly drives between cities may care more about the exact fast-charge curve, route coverage and the trim that delivers the needed range.
Price: compare the exact trim and the complete transaction
The headline prices are close enough to invite an overly simple “both cost about $30,000” conclusion. That description hides the trim, destination and handling, options, dealer markups or discounts, taxes, registration and any incentive eligibility.

| Vehicle and trim | Published MSRP | Destination/handling treatment | What the figure means |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2027 Chevrolet Bolt LT | $28,995 | Chevrolet’s comparison page excludes certain charges; the dealer determines the final price. | Manufacturer-listed MSRP, not an out-the-door quote. |
| 2026 Nissan LEAF S+ | $29,990 | Nissan’s August 19, 2025 pricing release lists $1,575 separately. | Dated launch pricing; confirm current destination, incentives and inventory. |
| 2026 Nissan LEAF SV+ | $34,230 | $1,575 destination and handling is listed separately in the release. | A mid-level trim with a different equipment and range balance. |
| 2026 Nissan LEAF Platinum+ | $38,990 | $1,575 destination and handling is listed separately in the release. | The highest listed trim; its range estimate is lower than the S+. |
The Bolt LT’s listed MSRP is $995 below the LEAF S+ MSRP before considering the separate Nissan destination charge or any Chevrolet charges excluded by the comparison page. That arithmetic is not a purchase-price promise: the cars may be equipped differently, dealer pricing varies, and incentives can change by location and date.
How to build a realistic price
- Configure the precise trim, exterior color, packages and accessories you would actually buy.
- Add the destination and handling amount shown for that vehicle, plus taxes, registration and dealer fees.
- Ask the dealer for a written buyer’s order rather than relying on a web-page MSRP.
- Check current federal, state, utility or local incentives separately; eligibility can depend on income, location, vehicle sourcing and timing.
- Recheck inventory and pricing immediately before signing. Nissan’s release identifies optional equipment and accessories, including floor-mat packages, which can move the total above MSRP.
Range: the LEAF’s advantage depends on trim
Range is not one number for the LEAF, and comparing the Bolt only with the longest-range LEAF would be misleading. Chevrolet lists one EPA-estimated range for the 2027 Bolt, while Nissan publishes different estimates for each 2026 LEAF trim.
| Vehicle and trim | EPA-estimated range | Published combined efficiency |
|---|---|---|
| 2027 Chevrolet Bolt LT | 262 miles | Not stated in the cited Chevrolet comparison. |
| 2026 Nissan LEAF S+ | 303 miles | 121 MPGe |
| 2026 Nissan LEAF SV+ | 288 miles | 114 MPGe |
| 2026 Nissan LEAF Platinum+ | 259 miles | 103 MPGe |
The S+ therefore has the highest published range, while the Platinum+ estimate is slightly below the Bolt’s. The LEAF’s trim ladder asks you to decide whether its additional equipment is worth giving up range and paying more. EPA estimates are standardized comparison figures, not guarantees for a particular route.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhy your result will differ from the label
- Cold weather, cabin heating, headwinds, hills, high speeds, heavy loads and low tire pressure can reduce usable range.
- Repeated short trips can consume more energy per mile because the car spends proportionally more energy warming or cooling the cabin and battery.
- Battery state of charge, age and charging habits influence the miles available on a given day.
- Leave a reserve for detours and chargers that are busy, offline or incompatible with the vehicle’s connector and payment system.
Edmunds’ standardized test, reported by the Associated Press on July 1, 2026, recorded 290 miles for the Bolt and 310 miles for the LEAF. Those are Edmunds test results, not EPA ratings, and an individual driver’s result can be higher or lower. Treat the test as an independent comparison under one procedure, not a promise for every season or route.

Charging: examine the window, connector and your parking situation
| Charging detail | 2027 Chevrolet Bolt | 2026 Nissan LEAF |
|---|---|---|
| Advertised public DC charge window | 25 minutes from 10% to 80%, according to Chevrolet. | Chevrolet’s comparison gives 35 minutes from 10% to 80%. |
| Other published DC condition | Not stated in the cited material. | Nissan’s brochure lists 30 minutes from 20% to 80% at a 150-kW DC charger. |
| Connector and network notes | Standard NACS DC port; Chevrolet says select Tesla Superchargers can be used and recommends checking the MyChevrolet app for compatibility. | Nissan advertises NACS compatibility and access to more than 20,000 Tesla Superchargers. |
These numbers are not interchangeable. A 10%–80% interval starts and ends at different battery states than a 20%–80% interval, and charging speed normally tapers as the battery fills. Neither figure means the car holds its peak rate for the entire stop, nor that every public station can deliver the stated power.
Home charging should decide the daily-use calculation
If you park at home and can install suitable equipment, most overnight charging can happen while the car is idle. The experience depends on the electrical service, circuit capacity, charger installation, parking arrangement and local permitting. A detached garage, rental property or street-parking situation may make public charging a routine requirement rather than a backup.
- Identify where the vehicle will park overnight and whether that location has a usable electrical connection.
- Have a qualified electrician evaluate the panel, wiring route and any needed load management before buying equipment.
- Ask each dealer which onboard charging equipment and cables are included with the exact vehicle.
- Map the public DC stations along your regular longer routes, checking connector compatibility, operating status, payment requirements and opening hours.
- Use the vehicle’s navigation or charging app to confirm that a station is suitable before setting out; Chevrolet specifically directs Bolt owners to MyChevrolet for compatibility information.
For a driver with reliable home charging, the shorter advertised DC interval may matter only a few times a year. For an apartment resident who depends on public stations, charger availability and route density can outweigh a modest MSRP difference.

Space and everyday practicality
Published maximum-cargo figures and independent behind-the-seat measurements tell different parts of the story. Chevrolet’s comparison lists maximum cargo volumes of 56.3 cubic feet for the Bolt and 55.5 for the LEAF. Edmunds measured 20 cubic feet behind the LEAF’s rear seat and 16.2 behind the Bolt’s.

| Space measure | 2027 Chevrolet Bolt | 2026 Nissan LEAF | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Manufacturer-listed maximum cargo volume | 56.3 cubic feet | 55.5 cubic feet | Top-line maximums; manufacturers may use different measurement conventions. |
| Edmunds cargo behind rear seat | 16.2 cubic feet | 20 cubic feet | More relevant when passengers remain seated and luggage fills the cargo area. |
| Edmunds rear-legroom comparison | 7.3 inches more than LEAF | Less than Bolt by the reported comparison | Important for adult rear passengers and child-seat positioning. |
In practice, the LEAF’s measured space behind the rear seat favors grocery runs, strollers and suitcases with all seats occupied. The Bolt’s rear-legroom advantage favors families carrying taller passengers or fitting rear-facing child seats. Bring the actual items that cause trouble—car seats, a folded wheelchair, work cases or a large pet crate—to a test drive, because volume alone does not describe opening height, floor shape or loading reach.
Infotainment, smartphone use and driver assistance
Bolt: Google built-in and an available highway-assistance system
The Bolt uses Google built-in rather than Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, according to Edmunds’ comparison. That can suit drivers who are comfortable with the vehicle’s native navigation and account-based services, but it is a meaningful drawback if your daily routine depends on projecting a phone’s apps to the center display. Chevrolet lists Super Cruise as available; verify that the desired trim includes the required hardware and that your usual roads are supported before paying for the feature.
LEAF: wireless phone integration and standard safety equipment
Edmunds reports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the LEAF, along with larger optional displays. Nissan lists Safety Shield 360 as standard. The presence of a feature does not replace a careful test drive: check screen readability, control layout, camera views and how the assistance system communicates warnings.
Neither vehicle should be selected on a feature name alone. Compare the exact window sticker, because screen size, audio equipment, driver-assistance functions and charging hardware can vary by trim or package.

Battery warranty and ownership questions
Both manufacturers state an 8-year/100,000-mile limited battery warranty. That headline duration is not the complete contract. Coverage can include capacity thresholds, exclusions, owner obligations, transfer rules and different treatment for particular components.
- Read the warranty booklet for the exact model year and vehicle identification number before delivery.
- Ask what battery-capacity loss is covered and how it is measured.
- Confirm where warranty diagnosis and repairs can be performed.
- Keep service and charging records required by the warranty terms.
Do not infer a crash-test score, long-term degradation result or universal real-world range from the specifications above; those questions require their own current, independently verified documentation.
Which one fits common driving routines?
You commute daily and can charge at home
Start with the Bolt LT if the lower listed MSRP, rear legroom and native Google interface match your preferences. The LEAF S+ deserves consideration if its additional published range provides useful buffer or if wireless phone integration and extra behind-seat cargo matter more than the initial price.

You routinely carry adults in back
The Bolt’s Edmunds-measured rear-legroom advantage makes it the first car to sit in. Have the tallest passenger use the rear seat while the front seat is adjusted to the driver’s normal position.
You carry luggage with all seats occupied
Use the LEAF’s Edmunds-measured behind-seat cargo advantage as a starting point, then test your own bags. A tape measure and a physical loading trial are more useful than maximum-volume claims that may use different conventions.
You want familiar phone apps on the display
The LEAF’s reported wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are the clearer match. If you prefer built-in navigation and services, test the Bolt’s Google interface before deciding; a feature that looks attractive on paper is not automatically comfortable in daily use.

- Confirm trim: range, efficiency, screens, driver assistance and price change across LEAF trims.
- Get the complete written price: include destination, dealer fees, taxes, registration, options and accessories.
- Check incentives: verify current eligibility rather than assuming a national program applies to your transaction.
- Plan charging: evaluate home wiring and map compatible public DC stations on your actual routes.
- Test the cabin: bring passengers, child seats and the cargo you carry most often.
- Read warranty terms: the 8-year/100,000-mile headline is limited coverage, not an unconditional promise.
- Inspect the window sticker: make sure the vehicle on the lot has the charging port, display, assistance system and other equipment you priced.
What Nissan says about the 2026 LEAF
Christian Meunier, chairman of Nissan Americas, described the vehicle as “the stylish, smart EV that is easy to charge, easy to live with and makes daily driving more fun.” That is Nissan’s promotional statement from its press material, not an independent test conclusion. The practical evidence for your decision remains the trim-specific price, range, charging conditions, space measurements and equipment listed above.
The Bottom Line
The Bolt is the value-and-space choice for buyers who have dependable charging and want the lower listed starting MSRP, quicker advertised 10%–80% DC stop or more rear legroom. The LEAF is the range-and-phone-integration choice, especially in S+ form, while its higher trims trade some range for equipment. Price the exact car, verify the charging route and test the seats and cargo area before choosing.
