Choose the Grand Sport X if you want the currently documented 2027 Corvette with 721 combined horsepower, a listed $110,000 starting price, and Chevrolet-published 2.4-second 0–60-mph performance. Consider an E-Ray if its 2024 powertrain and driving character match your priorities, but treat its current model-year availability, price, and ordering status as questions to verify with Chevrolet or a dealer. The available E-Ray figures are from the 2024 model year, so they are not a same-year comparison with the 2027 Grand Sport X.

Grand Sport X vs. E-Ray at a glance

These Corvettes use the same basic idea—an internal-combustion V8 supported by an electric drive system and all-wheel drive—but the published specifications come from different model years and source documents. Chevrolet’s current U.S. Grand Sport X material identifies a 2027 model, while the E-Ray figures below come from Chevrolet’s 2024 fact sheet published in 2023.

What the Grand Sport X is

A 2027 hybrid AWD Grand Sport

Chevrolet describes the Grand Sport X as a hybrid, all-wheel-drive version of the Grand Sport. Its propulsion system combines a 6.7-liter LS6 V8 with a front electric drive unit. The electric unit sends power to the front wheels, while the V8 supplies the conventional rear-driven propulsion. That arrangement gives the car electric assistance at the front axle without turning it into a fully electric vehicle.

Chevrolet lists the front drive unit at 186 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. For the complete vehicle, Chevrolet’s newsroom lists 721 combined horsepower and 665 lb-ft for the 2027 Grand Sport X. Those are combined-system figures, not a simple addition of the independently quoted engine and motor ratings; use Chevrolet’s combined number when comparing the car’s advertised output.

Published performance

The current Grand Sport X product page lists 2.4 seconds from 0 to 60 mph and a 10.4-second quarter mile at 131 mph. Chevrolet presents these as manufacturer-published performance figures. They are not results from an independent road test, and the product page notes that preproduction models are shown and that actual production vehicles may vary.

The headline numbers put the Grand Sport X in an extremely quick part of the Corvette range, but the number alone does not tell you how the car will feel in ordinary driving. The front motor’s immediate response can contribute to launches and traction management, while the V8 remains responsible for the combustion-engine sound, sustained high-speed power, and much of the car’s traditional character. Chevrolet’s chief engineer, Josh Holder, describes the model as bringing the Corvette’s all-wheel-drive acceleration and handling dynamics to the Grand Sport. That is Chevrolet product positioning, not an independent evaluation.

Electric modes and battery

The Grand Sport X uses a 1.9-kWh lithium-ion battery. Chevrolet says Stealth Mode allows electric-only driving for 4–5 miles at speeds up to 50 mph. Chevrolet also describes Shuttle Mode for electric-only movement below 22 mph, intended for tasks such as moving the car around a driveway or into a garage.

These modes are useful in specific situations rather than a substitute for a long-range electric vehicle. The quoted range and speeds are official product claims, and Chevrolet advises that the production specification can differ from the preproduction vehicles shown on its page. Confirm the final operating limits and mode behavior for the exact car you order.

Configurations and trim structure

Chevrolet offers the Grand Sport X as a coupe or convertible and lists 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT trims. The trim names do not mean every feature is standard across the range. Chevrolet identifies differences in seating, audio, comfort, and driver-information equipment, so compare the equipment list for the specific trim and body style rather than assuming that a feature shown in general model photography is included on a 1LT.

A coupe and a convertible can serve very different purposes. The coupe is the natural starting point if you prioritize a fixed roof, while the convertible is the choice if open-air driving is central to the purchase. Body style, trim, paint, wheels, interior materials, and other choices can alter the final transaction price substantially above the published starting figure.

What the 2024 E-Ray figures tell you

Its documented hybrid layout

Chevrolet’s 2024 E-Ray fact sheet describes a 6.2-liter V8 paired with an electric motor and electric all-wheel drive. The fact sheet attributes an additional 160 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque to the electric motor. It does not provide a combined-system horsepower figure in the cited material, so do not calculate or publish one as though Chevrolet had stated it.

The E-Ray concept is familiar: the gasoline engine and rear-drive hardware provide the conventional Corvette foundation, while the electric motor powers the front axle. That can provide all-wheel-drive traction and electric assistance without requiring an external charging routine to use the car’s hybrid system. The cited fact sheet does not establish battery capacity, electric-only range, or a current trim-by-trim equipment list.

2024 acceleration claims

For the 2024 model year, Chevrolet listed 2.5 seconds from 0 to 60 mph and a 10.5-second quarter mile for the E-Ray. These are 2024 manufacturer claims. They should be read beside, not merged with, the 2027 Grand Sport X figures: the Grand Sport X is advertised at 2.4 seconds to 60 mph and a 10.4-second quarter mile at 131 mph, but those numbers describe a different model year and powertrain specification.

A tenth of a second is meaningful in a launch-focused comparison, yet it should not be treated as proof that one car will always feel faster in every situation. Tire choice, surface conditions, temperature, launch procedure, vehicle equipment, and production variation can affect results. No independent comparison test is established by the cited sources.

Performance: how to interpret the numbers

Launch traction

Both configurations use an electric front axle to support all-wheel drive. That architecture can be valuable when you want repeatable launches or extra traction on a surface that is not perfectly dry. It does not eliminate the need for appropriate tires, sensible speeds, or attention to road conditions. All-wheel drive helps transmit available torque; it does not change the laws of grip or shorten every stopping distance.

The Grand Sport X has the newer published claim and the slightly quicker advertised acceleration: 2.4 seconds to 60 mph versus 2.5 seconds for the 2024 E-Ray. Because the figures come from different model years and are manufacturer claims, use them as an indication of each car’s stated performance target rather than as a laboratory-controlled ranking.

Quarter-mile use

Chevrolet gives the Grand Sport X a 10.4-second quarter mile at 131 mph. The 2024 E-Ray fact sheet gives a 10.5-second quarter mile but does not include a terminal speed in the cited summary. The Grand Sport X therefore has more complete published drag-strip information, while the E-Ray comparison is limited to elapsed time.

Power delivery and character

The Grand Sport X’s 6.7-liter LS6 and the E-Ray’s 6.2-liter V8 are different engines, even though both are paired with front electric assistance. Displacement, calibration, engine sound, throttle response, transmission behavior, and the way the hybrid system blends front and rear torque will shape the driving experience. The supplied official material does not provide a back-to-back subjective review, dyno test, or independent handling comparison, so a buyer who cares about steering feel, ride quality, brake pedal behavior, or track endurance should arrange a drive and inspect the final specification.

Price and availability: what is actually established

Grand Sport X pricing

Chevrolet lists a $110,000 starting price for the 2027 Grand Sport X. Treat that as a model-specific starting point, not an all-in transaction price. Options, destination charges, taxes, registration, dealer-installed items, and market conditions can change the amount you pay. The price applies to the 2027 Grand Sport X page and should not be carried over to an E-Ray.

Chevrolet also lists the 2027 Grand Sport at $86,000 and 535 horsepower. That car is a useful internal price baseline for understanding the premium associated with the hybrid Grand Sport X, but it is not an E-Ray price. Chevrolet’s newsroom lists the 2027 Grand Sport at 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft, compared with 721 combined horsepower and 665 lb-ft for the Grand Sport X.

E-Ray price and current model-year status

The cited material does not establish a current E-Ray starting price, current model year, or ordering status. Chevrolet’s inventory search result includes a 2024 E-Ray alongside newer model-year vehicles, but an inventory result alone cannot prove that the 2024 car represents current production, that new E-Rays are broadly available, or that the displayed vehicle is still for sale.

Which Corvette fits which driving priority?

Choose the Grand Sport X when current documentation and output matter most

The Grand Sport X is the clearer choice for a buyer who wants a currently documented 2027 product, a published $110,000 starting price, and the highest official output figure in this comparison. Chevrolet states 721 combined horsepower, 665 lb-ft, 2.4 seconds to 60 mph, and a 10.4-second quarter mile at 131 mph. It also gives you a defined coupe-or-convertible range and 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT trim path.

This does not make it universally better. It makes the buying case easier to verify: the model year, price baseline, body styles, trims, front-motor rating, battery size, and advertised performance are all identified on current Chevrolet material. If you are placing an order now, that clarity can be more valuable than a theoretical performance edge.

Investigate the E-Ray when its 2024 configuration is the right fit

The E-Ray deserves consideration if you specifically want the 2024 combination of a 6.2-liter V8, electric front motor, and eAWD, or if a dealer has a particular E-Ray whose condition, equipment, and price suit you. Chevrolet’s 2024 claims—2.5 seconds to 60 mph and a 10.5-second quarter mile—show that it is still a very high-performance hybrid Corvette.

The unresolved part is not the historical specification; it is the present purchase path. You need a vehicle-specific answer on availability, model year, mileage if pre-owned, warranty coverage, and price before comparing it with a new Grand Sport X. Do not assume that a 2024 listing and a 2027 product page represent equivalent inventory or equivalent pricing.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Prioritize low-speed electric maneuvering

If your interest is quietly moving the car around a home, the Grand Sport X has the more specific published information. Chevrolet says Stealth Mode can provide 4–5 miles of electric-only driving at up to 50 mph and Shuttle Mode can move the car below 22 mph. Those modes may be useful for leaving early, repositioning the car, or entering a garage with less engine noise.

  • PROTECTED PACKAGING: Comes in a window display box and ships inside a corrugated mailer box for added protection during transit. Ages 3 and up.

The E-Ray material cited here does not establish comparable electric-only distance or speed. That absence is not proof that the E-Ray cannot perform a similar function; it means you should ask for the exact feature description for the vehicle you are considering.

Need a particular body style or trim?

For the Grand Sport X, start by choosing coupe versus convertible, then compare 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT equipment. Chevrolet says trim content varies in areas such as seating, audio, comfort, and driver information. Build the car with the features you actually need, and check whether the selected options require a higher trim.

For an E-Ray, confirm body style and equipment from the individual vehicle or official model-year documentation. The cited 2024 fact sheet does not give enough current information to assume that the Grand Sport X’s trim structure, equipment, or configuration choices transfer directly.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Budget-conscious buyers

The Grand Sport X has a known Chevrolet starting point of $110,000, while the E-Ray’s current price is unresolved in the available material. That means you cannot responsibly declare one the cheaper buy from these figures alone. A used or remaining 2024 E-Ray could be priced below or above a new Grand Sport X depending on mileage, options, condition, dealer pricing, and market demand; those variables must be checked vehicle by vehicle.

How to make the comparison before you buy

  1. Define the target car. Write down whether you want a new 2027 Grand Sport X, a remaining 2024 E-Ray, or another E-Ray model year. Do not compare a generic nameplate with a specific priced vehicle.
  2. Confirm the powertrain. Verify the engine displacement, electric-drive hardware, drive layout, and advertised output on the window sticker or official specification sheet. The Grand Sport X should correspond to the 6.7L LS6 hybrid AWD description; the cited E-Ray reference is the 2024 6.2L V8/eAWD configuration.
  3. Check the exact performance claim. Record the model year and whether the number is a manufacturer claim. For reference, Chevrolet publishes 2.4 seconds to 60 mph and 10.4 seconds at 131 mph for the Grand Sport X, and 2.5 seconds and 10.5 seconds for the 2024 E-Ray.
  4. Build the real price. Add destination, taxes, registration, selected options, dealer-installed items, and any financing cost to the advertised starting price. Ask the dealer to identify every fee in writing.
  5. Verify inventory status. If the listing says E-Ray, ask whether it is current production, remaining new inventory, or pre-owned. Confirm the vehicle identification number, model year, mileage, title status, warranty, and delivery timing.
  6. Choose body style and trim. On the Grand Sport X, compare coupe and convertible and review 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT equipment. For an E-Ray, use the vehicle-specific equipment list rather than assuming equivalent trim content.
  7. Drive in the conditions that matter. Test low-speed maneuvering, normal-road ride, visibility, brake feel, and the transition between electric assistance and engine power. If you plan track use, ask about the exact tires, brakes, cooling equipment, and warranty terms on the car you will drive.
  8. Recheck final specifications. Chevrolet’s Grand Sport X page notes preproduction vehicles and possible production variation. Confirm the final build sheet and delivery vehicle before signing.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Calling the comparison apples to apples. The Grand Sport X data are for 2027; the E-Ray data are for 2024. Keep the model year beside every number.
  • Inventing an E-Ray price. No current E-Ray starting price is established by the cited sources. Do not substitute the Grand Sport X’s $110,000 price or the Grand Sport’s $86,000 price.
  • Treating an inventory search as a production announcement. A 2024 E-Ray appearing in a Chevrolet search result does not resolve current availability, ordering, or price.
  • Presenting manufacturer acceleration as independent testing. The quoted times are Chevrolet claims. Surface, tires, temperature, launch method, and production variation can affect real results.
  • Assuming every trim has every feature. Chevrolet identifies equipment differences among Grand Sport X trims. Read the specification for the exact 1LT, 2LT, or 3LT vehicle.
  • Assuming electric-only operation means long EV range. The Grand Sport X’s stated 4–5 miles in Stealth Mode is a limited-use feature, not a long-distance electric commute. The E-Ray figures cited here do not establish an equivalent range.
  • Choosing from horsepower alone. Body style, seating and comfort equipment, noise, ride, visibility, ownership condition, warranty, and the actual dealer price may matter more than a one-tenth-second difference.

Bottom line for the buyer

The Grand Sport X is the easier Corvette to evaluate as a current purchase: Chevrolet identifies it as a 2027 hybrid AWD model, lists 721 combined horsepower, quotes 2.4-second 0–60-mph and 10.4-second quarter-mile performance, offers coupe and convertible body styles in three trims, and gives a $110,000 starting price. Its Stealth and Shuttle modes also have specific published operating claims.

The E-Ray remains a compelling technical alternative on the evidence available, with a 6.2-liter V8, electric front motor, eAWD, and 2024 Chevrolet claims of 2.5 seconds to 60 mph and a 10.5-second quarter mile. But the E-Ray’s current price, model-year availability, and ordering path are not established here. If you find one, evaluate that exact vehicle rather than relying on a general E-Ray label.

In practical terms, investigate the Grand Sport X first if you want a new, clearly documented 2027 configuration and the strongest published numbers. Investigate an E-Ray when a specific 2024 or later vehicle is available and its verified equipment, condition, warranty, and price fit your priorities. Neither choice can be declared the universal winner from the published figures alone.
