Chery’s New Journeo is an adventure-van concept built around a surprising idea: make the vehicle’s front and rear parts work as living space. Its design combines a sliding rear module, a retractable dashboard, a front-trunk kitchen and a grille panel that unfolds into a loveseat. It is a concept, not a confirmed production van; retail availability and production specifications have not been established.
What is the Chery New Journeo?
New Journeo is the name given in Germany to a Chery concept first shown in China at the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show as the Fulwin Jinyun. New Atlas reported on March 1, 2025, that Chery’s design team in Raunheim, Germany, developed the concept. The report does not confirm a production model. New Atlas’s March 1, 2025 report describes a 519 cm (204 in) vehicle configured for four people.
How does the expandable lounge work?
The main cabin transformation pairs two moving parts: a transparent rear module that slides out and a dashboard that retracts. In lounge mode, the front seat backs swing aside, opening the interior around a rear loveseat-style bench. New Atlas reports that the sliding module and dashboard together add 150 cm (59 in) of interior length in this concept configuration. Those figures describe the reported design, not independently measured production specifications.
The arrangement is intended to change the cabin from a conventional four-seat layout into a more open place to lounge. The report gives no sleeping dimensions, so the added length alone does not establish whether an adult could sleep comfortably inside.

What are the frunk kitchen and grille loveseat?
Kitchen in the front trunk
The front trunk, or frunk, is designed to hold a mobile kitchen that includes a grill. This makes outdoor cooking part of the concept’s pitch, but no cooking, payload, durability or compatibility specifications are reported. The feature is not evidence of a Chery-branded grill or an accessory currently available for purchase.
Grille panel that becomes a seat
A panel at the front grille extends and lowers into a curved loveseat, adding a place to sit outside the vehicle. The report describes the transformation but does not give a load rating or other practical-use specifications.

Deployable rooftop awning
A thin rooftop module stores a multi-panel awning that can be deployed for outdoor shelter. The report provides no tested weather performance or durability details, so the awning should be understood as a concept feature rather than a verified camping system.
What powertrain and range does Chery describe?
The reported powertrain is Chery’s Kunpeng Super Performance Electric Hybrid C-DM system, pairing a 2.0-liter turbo engine with electric drive. New Atlas says Chery imagines a future seventh-generation version could travel 2,500 km (1,550 miles) with a full battery and full fuel tank. That is Chery’s future projection as reported by New Atlas—not a tested range result for a production Journeo, whose production status is unconfirmed.
