Honda’s WN7 is an announced electric model, while Honda’s EV OUTLIER and Yamaha’s PES2 and MOTOROiD concepts show possible directions—not a timetable for what will reach showrooms.
How to read future motorcycle designs
Concepts and announced models can reveal what manufacturers want to explore, but they are not equivalent evidence. A design concept communicates an idea; an announced model has been publicly presented as a model; neither label by itself confirms that every illustrated feature will be sold. The manufacturer material cited here describes intent, not independent performance testing or a market-wide adoption schedule.

The examples below are best compared by their stated purpose and development status—not by ranking range, price, handling or safety. No comparable performance figures are established for these designs.
Electric motorcycles are developing distinct identities
Honda WN7: an announced electric FUN motorcycle
Honda announced the WN7 as its first electric FUN motorcycle and unveiled it publicly at EICMA in Milan on November 4, 2025. Honda gives its development concept as “Be the Wind” and describes the model as quiet and smooth. Those words express the design intent; the announcement does not provide comparable performance figures or establish that the WN7 shares specifications with Honda’s other electric concepts. #1 Best Overall
- Two wheels don't just carry you forward. They remind you who you are. This Chopper motorcycle model captures that feeling—a tribute to the freedom that lives beyond the road.
- Electroplating painted parts reflect more than light. They reflect the soul of classic bikes. It’s the shine that belongs in every garage and every rider’s memory.
- The low frame and tall handlebars say one thing: this motorcycle has attitude. Every curve and angle was shaped for those who ride to stand apart, not blend in.
- Features a V-type engine with moving pistons. Turn the wheels and see the pistons move. In that motion, the spirit of the motorbike comes to life.
- It’s a gift that speaks without words. For those who hear engines like poetry and see chrome as a badge of belief, this is something worth holding onto.
Honda EV OUTLIER: a vision beyond 2030
EV OUTLIER is a separate, unconventional electric motorcycle concept. Honda presents it as a vision extending beyond 2030, which is a stated design horizon—not a production date or commitment. Its concept status makes it useful as a signal of how far Honda is willing to imagine electric motorcycle design, but not as a preview of a confirmed retail model. Honda Design’s EV OUTLIER page
Rider information could move into the helmet
Yamaha PES2: an augmented-reality interface proposal
Yamaha’s PES2 page imagines a high-performance electric sport motorcycle and describes a smart helmet with image sensors and an augmented-reality display for road and vehicle information. This points to a design question beyond the motorcycle itself: how information might be presented to a rider while moving. The page describes a concept, not an available helmet system or a confirmed feature of a production motorcycle. Yamaha’s PES2 concept page

Balance assistance could change the rider-machine relationship
Yamaha MOTOROiD: an experimental self-balancing concept
Yamaha describes MOTOROiD as an experimental electric motorcycle concept built around self-balancing technology. Its stated ambition is to explore a relationship between rider and machine that goes beyond using a motorcycle as a simple transport tool. That makes it an example of an engineering and interaction direction—not evidence that self-balancing is ready to appear on ordinary road bikes. Yamaha’s MOTOROiD concept page
Form can be designed around people and falls
Yamaha MOTOROiD:Λ: rounded contours and durability
Yamaha’s MOTOROiD:Λ material says a new lineage begins in 2025 and connects rounded contours with human safety and durability, including reducing damage if the machine falls. That is the manufacturer’s design rationale, not an independently measured safety result. The page illustrates how experimental design may consider the consequences of contact or a fall as well as appearance. Yamaha’s MOTOROiD:Λ material

What these examples do—and do not—show
| Example | Propulsion and intended use | Interface or assistance | Form or design emphasis | Status established by the cited material |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Honda WN7 | Electric; described as a FUN motorcycle | Not stated in the cited announcement | “Be the Wind”; quiet, smooth electric riding is Honda’s stated intent | Announced and publicly unveiled November 4, 2025 |
| Honda EV OUTLIER | Electric concept; specific riding use not stated | Not stated | Unconventional vision extending beyond 2030 | Concept; not a production commitment |
| Yamaha PES2 | Electric sport motorcycle concept | Proposed smart helmet with image sensors and augmented-reality road and vehicle information | Rider information is part of the concept | Design concept; commercial availability of the helmet system is not established |
| Yamaha MOTOROiD | Experimental electric motorcycle concept | Self-balancing technology; explores rider-machine interaction | Machine conceived as more than a transport tool | Experimental concept |
| Yamaha MOTOROiD:Λ | Specific propulsion and riding use not stated in the cited material | Not stated | Rounded contours linked by Yamaha to human safety and durability | Material says a new lineage begins in 2025; production status is not established |
Across these examples, the clearest evidence is of experimentation, not a shared specification or launch schedule. Electric identity, helmet-based information, self-balancing and more human-facing shapes are distinct design questions. Whether—and in what form—those ideas appear in products depends on future development; the cited pages do not establish that they will become standard.
