The 2026 Acura ADX has the lowest manufacturer starting price clearly established by the automaker in the available U.S. pricing: $35,000 for the front-wheel-drive base model, before destination and handling. That is not a drive-away price. Other low-price contenders include the Lexus UX, Volvo XC40, Lincoln Corsair, Mercedes-Benz GLA and BMW X1, but their published figures do not all use the same fee basis or come from current automaker price pages. Compare the price basis, trim equipment, drivetrain and space—not just the number on the window sticker—to decide which is the better value for you.
How to compare 2026 luxury SUV prices
This guide covers new 2026 model-year vehicles in the U.S. “Cheapest” means advertised starting MSRP, not the negotiated transaction price, lease payment or total cost of ownership. Destination charges may be included or listed separately, so the figures below are not a perfectly like-for-like ranking. Taxes, registration and dealer fees can also affect what you pay.
Acura’s current pricing page separates destination and handling from the ADX’s $35,000 starting MSRP. Volvo’s XC40 starting MSRP, by contrast, includes a $1,395 destination fee. The other comparison prices below are figures on Car and Driver’s 2026 ranking page; they are useful as a snapshot, but are not all independently confirmed against current automaker pricing. Check the manufacturer’s live configurator and the dealer’s itemized quote before comparing final prices.
2026 luxury SUVs with the lowest listed starting prices
| Model | Listed starting price | Price basis and what to know |
|---|---|---|
| Acura ADX | $35,000 FWD; $37,000 AWD | Acura’s official 2026 starting MSRP for the base package; destination and handling are separate. |
| Lexus UX | $38,850 | Car and Driver’s 2026 ranking figure; confirm current price and fee treatment with Lexus. |
| Volvo XC40 | $41,295 | Volvo Cars USA’s 2026 starting MSRP, including a $1,395 destination fee. |
| Lincoln Corsair | $41,480 | Car and Driver’s 2026 ranking figure; not independently rechecked against a current Lincoln pricing page. |
| Mercedes-Benz GLA | $42,850 | Car and Driver’s 2026 ranking figure; not independently rechecked against a current Mercedes-Benz pricing page. |
| BMW X1 | $44,550 | Car and Driver’s 2026 ranking figure; not independently rechecked against a current BMW pricing page. |
Car and Driver says its affordable-luxury-SUV ranking orders vehicles using manufacturer suggested retail price and rates them on roughly 200 data points, including acceleration, handling, comfort, cargo space, fuel efficiency, value and driving enjoyment. Its list is an editorial comparison, not a uniform quote of current out-the-door prices.

Acura ADX: lowest confirmed entry price, with package and drivetrain choices
Acura describes the 2026 ADX as a “Premium Compact SUV.” Its official pricing page lists the following starting MSRPs. Destination and handling are separate from these figures.
| ADX package | FWD starting MSRP | AWD starting MSRP |
|---|---|---|
| ADX | $35,000 | $37,000 |
| A-Spec | $38,200 | $40,200 |
| A-Spec with Advance | $42,400 | $44,400 |
The AWD starting price is $2,000 above the corresponding FWD price at each listed package level. Acura’s configurator separately shows a $1,550 destination and handling charge on the configuration reviewed; the amount should be checked on the buyer’s exact build and quote. The $35,000 figure is therefore a starting MSRP, not the price to drive the vehicle home.
The ADX uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four rated by Acura at 190 horsepower. Moving from the base ADX to A-Spec adds $3,200 at either drivetrain level, while A-Spec with Advance is another $4,200 above A-Spec. These are meaningful price steps: review the equipment on the exact package and decide whether its additional features matter more than retaining the lower entry price. The available pricing information establishes package names and prices; it does not, by itself, prove that a given trim is better equipped for every buyer.

Car and Driver lists the ADX from $36,450, compared with Acura’s $35,000 FWD starting MSRP before destination and handling. Those figures should not be blended into one price: they come from different sources and may reflect different price bases or update timing.
Lexus UX: a low-priced, efficiency-oriented alternative
Car and Driver lists the 2026 Lexus UX at $38,850 and reports 42–43 mpg combined for its ranking entry. Those are secondary-source figures, not an official Lexus price and fuel-economy confirmation in the material available here. Verify the current U.S. price, destination treatment, exact powertrain and EPA estimate with Lexus before treating them as a direct comparison with the ADX or XC40.
The UX is worth considering if a small footprint and fuel efficiency matter more to you than maximum passenger or cargo space. Its listed price is $3,850 above the ADX’s $35,000 FWD base MSRP, but the different source and fee treatment mean that difference is not a like-for-like estimate of what buyers will pay.

Volvo XC40: official price includes destination
Volvo Cars USA lists the 2026 XC40 Core at $41,295, including a $1,395 destination fee. Its listed starting prices for other versions are:
| XC40 trim | Volvo Cars USA listed starting MSRP |
|---|---|
| Core | $41,295, including $1,395 destination |
| Plus | $45,295 |
| Black Edition | $51,900 |
| Ultra | $52,645 |
Volvo’s page describes the XC40 as a gas mild-hybrid SUV with five seats. It lists the B4 FWD at 27 mpg combined and the B5 AWD at 26 mpg combined; the estimates apply to different drivetrain versions and should not be read as a same-configuration comparison. Volvo says its starting MSRP excludes taxes, title, registration, license, insurance, maintenance and other retailer fees.
The XC40’s advertised base price is $6,295 above the ADX’s FWD starting MSRP, but Volvo includes destination in its figure while Acura lists that charge separately. A buyer comparing a real build should add the applicable destination charge to the Acura quote before treating that gap as meaningful.

Other contenders: Corsair, GLA and X1
Car and Driver’s ranking lists the following starting prices and combined fuel-economy ranges. The prices and MPG figures here are ranking-page figures rather than independently verified current automaker specifications.
| Model | Starting price listed by Car and Driver | Combined MPG range listed | Car and Driver’s editorial characterization |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lincoln Corsair | $41,480 | 24–25 mpg | Comfort-oriented |
| Mercedes-Benz GLA | $42,850 | 28–29 mpg | Comfortable, but short on features |
| BMW X1 | $44,550 | 27–28 mpg | Appealing for driving enjoyment and a tech-forward interior |
Those descriptions are Car and Driver’s judgments, not firsthand evaluations for this article. Fuel economy varies by configuration, and the broad ranges should not be treated as exact estimates for a specific trim or drivetrain. For any of these models, compare the equipment on the actual base build, the fee-inclusive price and the configuration that matches your needs.
Which one is the best value for you?
“Best value” depends on what you want the SUV to do. A low MSRP can mean a smaller vehicle, a less extensively equipped base trim or a front-wheel-drive configuration. Use these priorities to narrow the list:

- Lowest confirmed starting MSRP: The ADX FWD starts at $35,000 before destination and handling. Add those charges before comparing it with a price that includes destination.
- Fuel efficiency: The Lexus UX has the strongest reported combined-MPG range in this comparison, but Car and Driver is the source for that figure here. Volvo’s official figures distinguish the XC40 B4 FWD from the B5 AWD; compare only configurations that suit your drivetrain needs.
- AWD choice: Acura publishes FWD and AWD starting prices for all three ADX packages, with AWD listed $2,000 higher at each level. Volvo’s published XC40 figures distinguish FWD and AWD powertrains.
- Comfort and driving character: Car and Driver characterizes the Corsair as comfort-oriented and the X1 as appealing to buyers who value driving and a tech-forward cabin. Treat those as editorial assessments and consider whether the trade-offs fit your priorities.
- Space and equipment: Compare passenger and cargo capacity, standard comfort and technology features, and the exact trim’s equipment against your own needs. A model’s entry price alone does not establish that it offers the most useful luxury features.
Starting MSRP cannot establish which SUV costs least to own. The figures here do not provide a comparable dataset for transaction prices, financing, insurance, maintenance or resale value, so a total-cost-of-ownership winner cannot be identified from them.
