The Corvette ZR1X is Chevrolet’s all-wheel-drive hybrid Corvette, pairing the ZR1’s twin-turbo V8 at the rear with an electric drive unit at the front. Chevrolet rates the combined system at 1,250 horsepower. The company introduced the 2026 model in June 2025, announced its launch pricing in August, and later reported production began in December 2025.
What Chevrolet means by “true American hypercar”
Chevrolet introduced the ZR1X on June 17, 2025, describing it as its first “true American hypercar.” The phrase is the company’s positioning, not a separate technical classification. The concrete change is that the mid-engine Corvette’s rear-drive V8 is joined by an electric front axle, giving the ZR1X all-wheel drive.
That makes the ZR1X a hybrid, but not a plug-in hybrid. Chevrolet says the rear engine and front electric drive have no physical connection; the front unit can recharge the battery through regenerative operation, and the car does not need to be plugged in. The system uses a 1.9-kWh battery designed, Chevrolet says, for repeated power bursts and charging.
How the ZR1X powertrain works
The rear wheels are driven by the LT7, a hand-built 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The electric drive unit powers the front axle. Chevrolet lists three operating strategies for the hybrid system: Endurance, Qualifying and Push-to-Pass.

These are Chevrolet’s published figures. The combined horsepower rating is the headline number; the engine and motor figures describe the two separate sources of propulsion.
How fast is the Corvette ZR1X?
Chevrolet’s June 2025 unveiling release estimated a 0–60 mph time below two seconds and a quarter-mile time below nine seconds, with a trap speed above 150 mph. Those were GM estimates for closed-course performance, not results from the later published tests.

In a January 13, 2026 release, Chevrolet reported test results from runs that culminated in October 2025 at US 131 Motorsports Park. The figures below are manufacturer-reported and were achieved under different surface and equipment conditions.
| Test conditions reported by Chevrolet | 0–60 mph | Quarter mile |
|---|---|---|
| Prepped surface; standard-equipment tires; pump gas; production 50-state street-legal engine calibration | 1.68 seconds | 8.675 seconds at 159 mph |
| Unprepped surface; car equipped with available ZTK package | 1.89 seconds | 8.99 seconds |
The prepped-surface 0–60 and quarter-mile figures were recorded on the same run, according to Chevrolet. The two rows should not be treated as a direct package comparison: the surface and equipment conditions differ.

Chassis, tires, brakes and aerodynamics
Both ZR1X chassis configurations have Magnetic Ride Control, according to Chevrolet. Buyers can choose a standard chassis or the available ZTK setup, which brings higher spring rates and a different tire choice.
| Configuration | Tires named by Chevrolet | Other stated details |
|---|---|---|
| Standard chassis | Michelin Pilot Sport 4S | Magnetic Ride Control; Chevrolet describes it as a road-and-track setup |
| Available ZTK | Michelin Pilot Cup 2R | Magnetic Ride Control and higher spring rates |
Chevrolet says the carbon-fiber aero package is optional on standard-chassis cars and standard with ZTK. The company claims it produces up to 1,200 lb of downforce at top speed. Chevrolet’s introduction release also described the J59 braking system: 10-piston front and six-piston rear Alcon calipers with 16.5-inch carbon-ceramic rotors. It reported 1.9G of deceleration from 180 to 120 mph during testing. These aerodynamic and braking figures are Chevrolet claims, not independent test results.

Chevrolet’s August 6, 2025 pricing announcement listed these 2026 starting MSRPs, each including a $1,995 delivery charge. Taxes, title, license, dealer fees and optional equipment were extra, and Chevrolet said dealers set the final price.

The same announcement listed a Quail Silver Limited Edition exclusive to the 3LZ convertible at a starting MSRP of $241,395 before delivery fees. That is a separate limited-edition figure, not one of the four standard configuration prices above.
Chevrolet’s current product page lists the 2027 Corvette ZR1X starting at $227,800. That is a later model-year listing and should not be substituted for the 2026 launch MSRPs. Actual transaction prices can vary with equipment, taxes, fees and dealer pricing.
When did ZR1X production begin?
At the June 2025 introduction, Chevrolet said the ZR1X would be available by the end of that year. Its January 2026 update said production began in December 2025 at Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky. The production update provides a more specific account than the initial availability forecast.
