Chase Pistone died on March 2, 2026, at age 42, according to his funeral-home obituary. The former NASCAR competitor was from Mooresville, North Carolina. His family had not disclosed a cause of death in contemporaneous reporting.
What happened to Chase Pistone?
The Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home obituary says Pistone passed away March 2, 2026. It identifies him as 42 and gives his birth date as August 20, 1983, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
United Press International reported March 3 that Pistone’s family had announced his death but had not released a cause.
Chase Pistone cause of death
No cause of death had been disclosed by the family in the reporting available after his death. There is no reliable basis for inferring one from social-media posts or from crisis-support information sometimes included in racing coverage.

His NASCAR and racing career
Pistone competed across several levels of stock-car racing. UPI reported that he made 10 NASCAR national-series starts between 2005 and 2014 and recorded one Truck Series top-10 finish. He also competed in ARCA.

NASCAR’s 2014 report also described Pistone’s work away from the driver’s seat. He built Legends Cars and Super Late Models and helped Gray Gaulding in Legends Cars.

Work as a builder, crew chief and owner
Pistone’s obituary says he owned CPinc and worked as a driver, crew chief and team owner. Those roles show a career that extended beyond his own race starts into car preparation and team operations.

Pistone was also part of a NASCAR racing family. NASCAR identified him as the grandson of “Tiger” Tom Pistone, whom it described as a two-time winner in NASCAR’s premier series. Tom Pistone’s record belongs to his grandfather and should not be confused with Chase Pistone’s own statistics.
Chase’s brother Nick Pistone wrote, “Well, my young brother and best friend is gone,” according to UPI. The statement is quoted as reported; the original social-media post was not independently accessed.
