It is a reported patent concept, not a confirmed production motorcycle or maxi-scooter.
What CFMoto’s reported patent describes
New Atlas reported on March 15, 2025, that CFMoto had filed a patent application showing a parallel-twin engine coupled to a belt-operated CVT. The article describes the proposed layout as a potential twist-and-go powertrain, with smooth acceleration rather than the distinct shifts of a conventional stepped gearbox. Those are descriptions of the concept, not results from a road test or confirmed production specifications. New Atlas’s report is the source for the published account.
How a belt CVT could change the ride
A conventional motorcycle gearbox provides a series of separate fixed ratios; the rider or a shifting system changes from one ratio to another. A CVT varies its effective ratio across a range instead. In a belt-operated design, belt-and-pulley movement can change that ratio as speed and engine load change.
In a twist-and-go arrangement, the rider would use the throttle to accelerate without selecting conventional gears. That is the potential appeal of the reported CFMoto concept. The report provides no measured figures for acceleration, efficiency, comfort, or other performance, so none of those benefits is established for this engine.
#1 Best Overall
- The exact original equipment manufacturer fluid that your vehicle came with; use where nissan cvt ns-3 fluids are required in nissan, infiniti, and other make vehicles
- Unique formulation of high quality friction modifiers and additives ensures stable, precise operation
- Offers superior low temperature fluidity for smoother shifting and maintains proper pressure in hot weather
- Offers superior low temperature fluidity for smoother shifting and maintains proper pressure in hot weather
What the engine details do—and do not—confirm
New Atlas describes chain-driven double-overhead camshafts and highlights a component attached to the intake camshaft sprocket. The part resembles a cam phaser, which led the article to suggest it might point to variable intake cam timing. The patent description, as reported, does not confirm that interpretation. It should be treated as a visual inference, not a confirmed feature.
Motorcycle or maxi-scooter? The vehicle is unknown
The report raises both a motorcycle and a maxi-scooter as possible applications, but confirms neither. It does not identify a production model, model name, intended market, release date, or official launch. The available account also gives no horsepower or torque figures and no price. Until CFMoto announces a vehicle and its specifications, the category and details remain unsettled.
Rank #2
- Advanced Protection
- Specially formulated for second-generation CVT transmissions
- Superior coefficient of friction for increased efficiency and fuel economy
- Advanced pressure and wear protection
- High viscosity index provides wide temperature performance
Do not confuse it with CFMoto’s ATV CVT listings
CFMoto Australia lists CVT assemblies for the 2025 UFORCE 1000 EPS TREK, a separate ATV. That parts listing does not establish that those assemblies fit the reported parallel-twin concept or that the concept is intended for that vehicle. The Australian parts catalog is relevant only as an example of a distinct, named ATV listing.
A Korean patent-index entry titled “Continuously Variable Transmission, and All-Terrain Vehicle Using Same” likewise describes a belt-and-pulley transmission for an all-terrain vehicle. The available information does not establish that it is the same filing as the motorcycle concept, so the two should not be treated as one development. KIPRIS, the Korean patent information service, provides the separate index context.

What riders can reasonably take from the report
- The reported idea combines a parallel twin with a belt-operated CVT.
- Its proposed distinction is automatic, twist-and-go operation instead of conventional stepped gear changes.
- No production vehicle, riding results, output figures, price, or launch timing are established by the report.
- The possible variable-intake-cam feature is an interpretation of a pictured component, not a confirmed specification.
