CFMoto Ibex 800 E Review: A Sleeper Adventure-Touring Bike?

A 799cc engine, touring comforts and broad rider aids make the CFMoto Ibex 800 E an appealing road-focused adventure tourer, though its top-heavy feel and dated U.S. price references deserve a close look.

The CFMoto Ibex 800 E makes a strong case as a well-equipped, pavement-friendly adventure tourer: it pairs a 799cc twin with cruise control, a quickshifter, rider aids and touring hardware. A 2026 review of a 2025 bike found it comfortable and composed on pavement and fire roads, but also heavy-feeling at low speeds. “Sleeper” is a reasonable description of its appeal; there is no cited sales or awareness data to establish that the market is overlooking it.

What is the CFMoto Ibex 800 E?

The Ibex 800 E is CFMoto’s U.S.-market middleweight adventure-touring motorcycle. For 2025, CFMoto consolidated the earlier U.S. Ibex 800 T and S into the E, with six ride modes, an 8-inch touchscreen and a bidirectional quickshifter among the updates reported at launch by ADV Pulse. Rider Magazine’s 2026 review says 2026 brought color and graphic changes only. CFMoto’s 2026 brochure continues to list the Ibex 800 E. Names and specifications may differ outside the United States.

Its case is not that it is proven to outsell or outperform rivals. Rather, the E combines a substantial equipment list with a useful road-and-touring focus at a reported U.S. base-price reference of $10,299. Whether that makes it the better buy depends on current local pricing, service access and how its weight and dirt capability suit your riding.

Engine and key specifications

CFMoto’s 2026 brochure lists a liquid-cooled, DOHC, 799cc inline twin producing 94 hp at 9,000 rpm and 56.8 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine uses Bosch fuel injection and a six-speed transmission. The same brochure lists a five-gallon tank and a 32.5-inch seat height.

Weight 509 pounds, claimed, full tank and without luggage Rider Magazine’s review of a 2025 model

The weight figure deserves attention: a full tank and no luggage is not the same as a ready-to-tour bike loaded with cases and gear. Rider Magazine’s tester said the bike felt top-heavy, particularly with a passenger or luggage. For a buyer who expects frequent parking-lot maneuvers, steep gravel stops or solo lifting, the subjective feel of that mass matters as much as the published number.

Equipment: a touring-ready feature set

CFMoto’s 2026 brochure lists six riding modes—Sport, Rain, Off-road, Off-road Plus, All Terrain and All Terrain Plus—alongside cruise control, a quickshifter, tire-pressure monitoring, motorcycle stability control, a steering damper, a reflex defensive rider system and an emergency stop signal. It also lists an adjustable windscreen, display and connectivity functions, USB and a 12V outlet.

On the 2025 motorcycle it tested, Rider Magazine additionally describes cornering ABS and traction control, wheelie control, rear-radar alerts, heated grips and seat, auxiliary lights, crash bars, handguards, a centerstand and a full-coverage skid plate as standard. Equipment can vary by market or brochure version, so confirm the exact specification with the local CFMoto importer before buying.

The dense feature list has a usability trade-off. Rider Magazine found the display information crowded, some controls unintuitive and pulsing graphics around the speed readout distracting. Rear-radar alerts could be annoying in dense traffic, though the review says they can be switched off. Those are practical considerations for a test ride, not reasons to assume every rider will react the same way.

How it rides on pavement and dirt

Greg Drevenstedt’s Rider Magazine review, published March 23, 2026, covered more than 1,700 miles on a 2025 test bike, mostly on pavement with a few off-road excursions. The reviewer praised engine performance, highway comfort, legroom, the adjustable windscreen and cruise control. Handling, braking and tire grip also drew praise on the test route, and the suspension was described as stable and comfortable over pavement and unpaved fire roads.

Rider Magazine characterizes the E as more pavement-oriented than dirt-oriented, citing its 80/20 tire bias and middle-of-the-road suspension travel. The test bike had tubeless spoked 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, Michelin Anakee Adventure tires, and adjustable KYB suspension with 6.3 inches of front travel and 5.9 inches at the rear. The reviewer found it capable on rough pavement and fire roads, but those observations do not make it a dirt-first machine or predict performance on every trail.

That distinction helps clarify the unusual spread of ride modes: the bike offers modes labeled for varied terrain, yet its tires, chassis setup and test impressions point toward road travel with the ability to handle unpaved detours. If your priority is technical trails, compare wheel and tire configuration, suspension travel, ground clearance and manageable low-speed weight against more dirt-focused alternatives before choosing.

Touring, luggage and real-world range

Rider Magazine tested the Ibex with CFMoto’s optional three-piece aluminum luggage set. In that review, the set cost $1,699 and the bike’s as-tested price was $11,999. The tubular luggage rack is standard, and the set includes a top-box mounting plate. The reviewed cases provide 99 liters combined: 36 liters in the top case, 35 liters in the left pannier and 28 liters in the right pannier. The exhaust reduces usable room in the right case; the cases are described as lockable and sealed against water and dust. Verify model-year fitment, regional availability and current price for your bike.

Those are test-specific figures, not a manufacturer range rating or a promise of what every rider will achieve. Load, speed, terrain and conditions affect fuel use, so plan refueling conservatively on remote routes.

Price and warranty: what the figures do—and do not—show

ADV Pulse reported a U.S. launch MSRP of $10,299 for the 2025 Ibex 800 E and a two-year warranty. Rider Magazine’s March 2026 review also lists $10,299 as the base price for the 2025 model and $11,999 as tested with the optional luggage, describing the warranty as two years with unlimited mileage. These are dated U.S. references, not a current dealer quote. They do not establish today’s transaction price, fees, incentives or local stock.

The price-and-equipment combination supports a credible value argument, but the available reviews do not make a same-day, like-for-like comparison with competing middleweight adventure bikes. Before treating it as a bargain, compare the actual out-the-door prices and warranties available in your area, along with dealer and service access.

Who should consider the Ibex 800 E?

It may suit you if

  • You want a middleweight twin for commuting, touring and paved-road trips, with occasional fire-road or rough-surface travel.
  • You value built-in touring comforts such as cruise control, an adjustable windscreen and heated equipment on the tested U.S. configuration.
  • You want the option of substantial luggage capacity and are comfortable checking accessory fitment and cost for your model year.

Look closely at alternatives if

  • You regularly ride technical dirt and want a lighter-feeling, more dirt-focused setup.
  • You often maneuver a loaded motorcycle at a standstill or ride solo on uneven ground; the reported 509-pound full-tank weight and top-heavy feel merit a careful test ride.
  • You find complex displays and multi-function controls frustrating, or you need a particular local dealer and service network.

How to compare it with other middleweight adventure bikes

Use the same practical criteria for each candidate rather than comparing feature counts alone:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Price and warranty: request current out-the-door quotes and confirm coverage terms in your region.
  • Weight and balance: compare claimed weights on the same basis, then test each bike with the luggage and load you expect to carry.
  • Road comfort and range: assess wind protection, seat comfort and riding position; treat one test’s fuel economy as a reference, not a guarantee.
  • Dirt suitability: compare wheel sizes, tires, suspension travel and the bike’s behavior on the kind of unpaved roads you actually ride.
  • Electronics: check which rider aids are standard, how adjustable they are and whether the controls make sense to you.
  • Luggage and support: price the complete luggage setup, confirm case fit and capacity, and consider dealer and service availability where you live.

There is no consistent same-day competitor test in the cited reviews, so a claim that the Ibex is superior to a particular rival would go beyond the available evidence.
