But this is not a verified, same-market head-to-head—the Cadillac reference is a U.S. model, while Audi’s published RS 5 details and prices are for Europe. The specifications show what distinguishes them; they do not establish a measured winner.
What is actually being compared?
Cadillac’s current U.S. reference is the 2026 CT5-V Blackwing. Audi’s newly announced RS 5 is described in European-market material and is offered there as a Sedan and Avant. The available information does not establish U.S. RS 5 availability, U.S. specifications, or a matching model-year comparison.
Nor is there a direct instrumented test of these exact cars in the cited material. A recent Tom’s Guide road test compares the Cadillac with BMW’s M2 CS, not the RS 5: Tom’s Guide road test. For that reason, the comparison below is about published specifications and design choices—not a claim that one car has beaten the other on a road or track.
Powertrain: supercharged V8 versus plug-in hybrid
Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing
Cadillac lists a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 producing 668 hp and 659 lb-ft of torque in the 2026 U.S. CT5-V Blackwing. A six-speed manual is standard, with a 10-speed automatic available. Those are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent measurements. Cadillac’s 2026 CT5-V Blackwing page

#1 Best Overall
The defining choice is a large-displacement, supercharged gasoline engine paired with either a manual or automatic transmission. The standard manual gives buyers a direct mechanical alternative to the automatic; the available automatic is the option for drivers who prefer gear changes handled by the transmission.
Audi RS 5
Audi describes the new RS 5 as a plug-in hybrid with 470 kW of system output. That output figure belongs to the hybrid system; it should not be treated as a directly comparable engine-only rating against Cadillac’s V8 figures. Audi’s European announcement covers both the RS 5 Sedan and RS 5 Avant. Audi’s RS 5 announcement

These configurations appeal to different priorities: Cadillac offers a V8 and a choice of manual or automatic, while Audi’s new RS 5 combines plug-in-hybrid power with a choice of sedan or wagon body style. The published figures alone do not settle how either car feels to drive.
Drivetrain and torque management
Audi says its quattro system with Dynamic Torque Control uses electromechanical torque vectoring at the rear axle. Audi on quattro with Dynamic Torque Control This describes how the RS 5 manages torque across the rear axle; it is a distinct part of the car’s drivetrain design, not simply another power-output figure.

Cadillac’s cited specifications establish the V8, transmission choices, and performance equipment, but do not provide an equivalent description of torque-management hardware. A precise system-by-system comparison therefore cannot be made from these published details alone.
Acceleration, top speed, and what the claims mean
Cadillac publishes a 0–60 mph time of 3.4 seconds and says the CT5-V Blackwing can exceed 200 mph on a racetrack. These are Cadillac’s claims, not results from an independent, matched test of the Blackwing and RS 5. Cadillac’s official specifications

Audi’s cited RS 5 announcement gives 470 kW of system output, but the cited material does not establish a directly comparable acceleration or top-speed result under matching test conditions. Without equivalent model years, configurations, tires, measurement methods, and conditions, the figures cannot support a reliable ranking.
Sedan versus Avant: body-style choice
The CT5-V Blackwing is a sedan. Audi announced the new RS 5 in both Sedan and Avant form in Europe, giving buyers there a choice between a conventional four-door body and a wagon. That makes the comparison broader than a contest between two powertrains: the Audi range also offers a body-style option Cadillac does not list for the Blackwing.

The available announcement establishes the two RS 5 body styles, but it does not provide comparable cargo-capacity figures here. A buyer who needs to compare luggage space or overall practicality should check specifications for the exact market versions rather than infer capacity from the body-style names.

Equipment and efficiency figures
Cadillac equipment
Cadillac lists Magnetic Ride Control, Brembo brakes, and a 33-inch display among the CT5-V Blackwing’s equipment. These are manufacturer-listed features; the cited specifications do not establish a comparative assessment of their performance or usability against Audi’s equipment. Audi’s declared European consumption figures
For the RS 5 Sedan, Audi reports weighted combined fuel consumption of 4.3–3.8 l/100 km, electric consumption of 18.4–17.7 kWh/100 km, and CO₂ emissions of 98–86 g/km. These are European declared figures published with Audi’s announcement, not U.S. EPA ratings. They should not be compared with a U.S. fuel-economy rating as if the measurement systems were interchangeable. Audi’s RS 5 announcement

Quick Recap
Which car fits which priorities?
- Consider the CT5-V Blackwing if a supercharged V8 and the choice of a standard six-speed manual or available 10-speed automatic are central to what you want. Its listed U.S. starting price and published performance claims give you a concrete Cadillac reference, subject to current dealer pricing and availability.
- Consider the RS 5 if you want Audi’s newly announced plug-in-hybrid approach, its quattro system with rear-axle Dynamic Torque Control, or the European range’s choice of Sedan and Avant. Confirm local availability, configuration, and price before treating those European details as applicable to your market.
- Wait for a matched comparison if your decision depends on which car is quicker, brakes harder, uses less energy in your driving, or performs better on track. Those questions require independent results from equivalent versions tested under comparable conditions.
