The Caseboard’s answer to the awkwardness of carrying an electric skateboard was to fold its 41-inch deck in half, with the center section doubling as a handle. New Atlas described the design in June 2014, reporting a set of performance figures and a planned crowdfunding campaign—but not independent test results or confirmation that the board reached buyers.
How the folding design worked
New Atlas described the Caseboard as a 41 in (104 cm) longboard that folded to 22.4 × 13.4 × 5.9 in (57 × 34 × 15 cm). Its center section served as a carrying handle, turning the board into a more compact shape to carry when it was time to get off and walk.
The reported construction included an ABS thermoplastic shell enclosing the electronics, longboard trucks, 78a wheels and grip areas. Folding addressed the board’s bulk, not its weight: product information reported by New Atlas put it at 25.4 lb (11.5 kg).
What the 2014 report said about performance
New Atlas reported a 500-watt brushless motor and a 36 V, 7 Ah LiFePO4 battery. The speed, range and charging figures below were creator or product-information claims reported in 2014, not results from an independent test.

Controller and braking features
The report described a rechargeable 2.4 GHz wireless hand controller with a display for battery status, speed, braking regeneration, direction, and fast or slow modes. It also said the board had regenerative braking and would brake automatically if it moved more than 15–20 ft (4.5–6 m) from its controller. These are features described in the 2014 coverage, not independently verified performance or safety findings.
Was the Caseboard waterproof?
No waterproof rating was reported. Creator Adam Riley described the board as “almost perfectly sealed” and said it should cope with an occasional puddle, while recommending that riders steer clear of water. That comment is not evidence of a tested waterproof enclosure or permission to ride through wet conditions.

What happened to the planned launch?
New Atlas reported that Epic Skateboards was using Kickstarter to raise funds for tooling and manufacture, with deliveries anticipated to begin in November 2014. The article does not establish whether the campaign succeeded, whether boards were shipped, whether the company still operates, or whether Caseboards are available now. It also does not confirm current stock or compatible replacement batteries and controllers.
The same 2014 report gave an anticipated retail price of A$1,199, an early-bird price of A$999, and an additional A$200 delivery charge for some destinations. These were historical plans and campaign terms, not current prices or proof of a completed sale.

What the Caseboard’s design did—and did not—solve
Folding offered a practical response to the carrying problem: a long deck could become a shorter, handle-equipped package. But the board still weighed 25.4 lb, and the reported range, speed and charging time remain period claims rather than comparable modern test data. The 2014 article provides no like-for-like comparison with electric skateboards sold today, so it cannot establish whether the Caseboard would outperform current alternatives.
