Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteNo: the Ford Maverick that this headline most likely refers to is not currently listed below $20,000. Ford’s 2026 Maverick page gives it a starting MSRP of $28,145. That is a manufacturer-listed starting price, not a guaranteed dealer transaction price; options, destination, taxes, fees and inventory affect the final amount.
The Maverick remains a compact pickup worth considering, but calling it the only new truck under $20,000 would misstate its current price and imply a market-wide comparison that the available figures do not establish.
Why the Maverick was associated with a sub-$20,000 price
The Ford Maverick is the truck most plausibly meant by the under-$20,000 headline, because its entry trim has long been associated with that starting-price claim. The available information does not establish which model year the old figure referred to, whether it excluded destination, or when the original headline was published. It should not be treated as a current offer.
What the 2026 Maverick costs and offers
Starting price and trims
Ford lists the 2026 Maverick at a starting MSRP of $28,145. Its current lineup includes XL, XLT, Lobo, Lariat and Tremor trims. Ford’s price-list search results show XL configurations with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, but do not support a present-day sub-$20,000 price. Check the price and equipment for the exact configuration with Ford or a dealer before shopping; advertised MSRP is not the same as the final amount paid.

Powertrains and drive
Ford identifies a 2.5L full-hybrid powertrain as standard, with front-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive, and also lists a 2.0L EcoBoost engine as available. Engine and drivetrain availability can depend on trim and configuration, so confirm the pairing for the specific truck rather than assuming every combination is offered.
Bed utility
Ford lists a 54.4-inch bed and 33.3 cubic feet of cargo volume. Those figures describe a compact pickup box; judge it against the length and shape of the items you actually carry instead of assuming it offers the same utility as a midsize or full-size truck. Ford’s 2026 price list names optional hard roll-up and hard tri-fold pickup-box covers. For other covers or accessories, verify fitment for the truck’s model year and configuration.

How to decide whether it fits your needs
“Best” depends on what matters to you, not just the entry price. Before choosing the Maverick or another truck, assess:
- Budget: Compare the actual price of the configuration you can buy, including destination, options, taxes and fees—not an old starting-price claim.
- Fuel economy and powertrain: Decide whether the listed hybrid or available EcoBoost configuration suits your driving, and verify the engine and drivetrain offered on the trim you want.
- Cargo: Measure the loads you carry and compare them with the Maverick’s stated bed dimensions and volume.
- Passengers and drivetrain: Match the truck’s layout and available drive configuration to your regular passengers and road conditions.
- Towing and payload: Check ratings for the exact configuration against your trailer and cargo needs. The figures cited here do not establish those ratings.
- Availability: Confirm that the trim and configuration are actually available in your area and ask for a complete written price.
Is it the only new pickup under $20,000?
That cannot be established from the current information. Ford’s 2026 Maverick starting MSRP is above $20,000, and a defensible claim about the cheapest or only qualifying new pickup would require a dated comparison for a specified market. It would also need to compare like with like: model year, base-trim price including destination, powertrain, drivetrain, passenger and cab layout, bed dimensions, payload and towing ratings, warranty and local availability.
