The available account makes that promise conditional: it ties coverage to a system malfunction or algorithm error and a legal finding that the vehicle was at fault. It does not establish that BYD will pay for every parking accident, or provide the complete policy terms.
What BYD announced in July 2025
CarNewsChina reported on July 9, 2025, that BYD had announced an autonomous-parking feature for its God’s Eye driver-assistance system and described it as L4-level. The report said BYD would cover losses caused by the system in parking scenarios. It also said the company planned an over-the-air update for God’s Eye B and C, adding more parking scenarios and three-speed parking. The update was described as forthcoming at the time; that report does not establish its present rollout status. CarNewsChina’s July 9, 2025 report
The report said BYD had announced on July 7 that more than one million cars were equipped with God’s Eye. That is a BYD figure relayed by the publication, not an independently measured total.
What the reported parking coverage means
According to CarNewsChina’s summary, the pledge concerned repair costs, third-party property damage and personal-injury compensation arising from a parking-assistance malfunction or algorithm error, when the vehicle was found at fault in a legal proceeding. The report said an affected driver could contact BYD service directly rather than first making an insurance claim. It presented avoiding an effect on future premiums as a potential benefit; that is not a general rule about insurance premiums.

- When the product is working, the sensor emits ultrasonic waves. When encountering an obstacle, the ultrasonic waves are reflected. The sensor receives the reflected signal and transmits it to the control box. Through calculation, the control box obtains the distance between the vehicle and the obstacle, and reminds the driver to pay attention through the display and sound, etc., to avoid danger. It is a good helper for us to drive the car!
- 1: When reversing, activate the rear 4 sensors and the front 2 sensors to detect and alarm. During normal driving, when braking, the 4 sensors in front of the car are activated to assist the driver to safely pass through narrow passages. When you release the brake, the parking sensor will work for about 15 seconds before stopping.
- 2: The product alerts the driver through sound, numbers, and light bars at the same time.
- 3: Probe behind the car to prevent collision, probe in front of the car to prevent rubbing.
- 4: On the display, there are 8 light bars representing each sensor, allowing the driver to distinguish the orientation of obstacles.
The full original Chinese policy text is not available in the cited account. It does not establish exclusions, a monetary cap, exact eligibility rules or the complete claims procedure. The pledge therefore should not be read as an unconditional guarantee for any damage that happens while a BYD parks itself, nor as a replacement for checking the driver’s insurance and local legal obligations.
Did BYD prove the system is Level 4?
No independent test result or validation of the parking feature’s L4 capability appears in the available contemporaneous report. The supported wording is that BYD announced or characterized the feature as L4-level—not that its performance was independently verified against Level 4 criteria.

BYD’s June 1, 2026 German-language release later described its XUANJI A3 chip as supporting L3 and L4 autonomous driving, and said a three-chip configuration delivers more than 2,100 TOPS. Those are company claims about the chip, not evidence that the 2025 parking feature itself meets L4 performance criteria. BYD’s June 1, 2026 release
How the 2025 parking pledge differs from BYD’s 2026 Urban NOA policy
BYD announced a separate coverage commitment in May 2026 for compliant use of Urban Navigate on Autopilot (Urban NOA) in China. Its official release describes a one-year Full Damage Coverage guarantee for legally liable accidents during compliant Urban NOA use. It says the policy applies to new buyers and existing owners who upgrade to God’s Eye 5.0. This later policy is not the term or eligibility rule for the 2025 parking pledge. BYD’s May 2026 release also reported more than 3.15 million intelligent-driving-assistance vehicles on the road, over 200 million kilometers of driving data per day, a 5,000-engineer R&D team and a commitment to invest more than RMB 100 billion in intelligent-driving-assistance R&D. These are company-reported figures and a stated investment commitment, not independent measures of the 2025 parking feature or proof of its coverage terms.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does the promise apply outside China?
The 2025 report concerns BYD’s China offering, and BYD explicitly describes the 2026 Urban NOA policy as applying in China. Neither source supports treating either commitment as global. Buyers elsewhere should not assume their local BYD vehicle has the same feature, policy or claims route; the applicable terms would need to be confirmed with BYD for the relevant market.
