What is the BYD “Hiace 07 EV”?
It is a naming discrepancy in the April 22, 2024, Gizmochina reveal article. The May 2024 China launch report identifies the launched vehicle as the BYD Sealion 07 EV (海狮07EV). This article uses Sealion 07 EV for that 2024 model; “Hiace 07 EV” is the reveal article’s rendering, not the name used by the launch report.
The reveal took place in the context of Auto China, also known as the Beijing Auto Show. Associated Press described the 2024 event as a major showcase for digitally connected new-energy vehicles and reported that EVs made up 25% of China’s new-car sales in 2023. What did the reveal report say about the cabin and specifications?
Gizmochina’s April 22, 2024, article described leather upholstery options, a floating central control screen, symmetrical LCD instruments, a head-up display and a crystal gear selector. It also reported rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants, motor outputs ranging from 160 kW to 230 kW, battery options of 71.808 kWh and 80.640 kWh, and a maximum cruising range of 610 km. What was confirmed at the China launch?
China Quality News reported that the Sealion 07 EV formally launched in China on May 10, 2024, with a guide-price range of RMB 189,800–239,800. The report described it as the first vehicle based on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo and listed dimensions of 4,830 × 1,925 × 1,620 mm with a 2,930 mm wheelbase. It also named DiPilot 100 as the driver-assistance suite for the launch configuration. What does God’s Eye do?
In the reveal coverage, “God’s Eye” refers to driver-assistance functions, including lane keeping, traffic-sign recognition and intelligent speed-limit control. The launch report separately identifies DiPilot 100. The material available here does not establish that these functions make the car autonomous, nor does it provide independent evidence of safety outcomes. Driver assistance is not a substitute for an attentive driver.

Is the current BYD Haibao 07 EV the same specification?
Do not treat BYD’s current Chinese product page for the Haibao 07 EV (海豹07EV) as a specification update for the 2024 Sealion 07 EV (海狮07EV). The current page describes a different named model and feature set, including manufacturer-claimed 705 km CLTC range, God’s Eye B/DiPilot 300 assistance, 127-color ambient lighting, 6 kW VTOL output and second-generation Blade Battery. These claims apply to the model and configuration described on that page; they are not evidence that the 2024 Sealion 07 EV had those features.
