The standard Bugatti Chiron was announced with 1,500 HP, 1,600 Nm of torque and a road-use maximum speed limited to 420 km/h—about 261 mph. Bugatti’s launch price was €2.4 million net; its later stated U.S. price was $2.998 million including listed charges, so $2.6 million is not a reliable universal price.
Bugatti Chiron specifications at a glance
| Specification | Standard Chiron figure | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Power | 1,500 HP | Bugatti’s 2016 launch announcement; the manufacturer also uses 1,500 PS in some descriptions, and PS and HP are not identical units. |
| Torque | 1,600 Nm | Bugatti’s 2016 launch announcement. |
| Maximum speed | 420 km/h (about 261 mph) | Bugatti’s stated maximum, limited for road use. |
| Launch base price | €2.4 million net | Announced by Bugatti in 2016; the figure is not a current resale price. |
| U.S. price | US$2.998 million | Bugatti’s 2017 U.S.-market figure, including shipping, duties, taxes and charges. |
These are manufacturer-announced figures, not independent test results. Bugatti announced a planned series of 500 Chirons in 2016; the company announced completion of the final car in 2024. Bugatti’s 2016 Chiron launch announcement and 2024 final-car announcement provide the respective details.
How fast is a Bugatti Chiron?
Bugatti stated a road-use maximum of 420 km/h, equivalent to about 261 mph. That is the appropriate figure for a standard Chiron specification rundown; it should not be confused with a record run by a specially configured, Chiron-based vehicle.
The separate 2019 record run
In 2019, a Chiron-based vehicle recorded 304.773 mph (490.484 km/h), as recounted in Bugatti’s model history. That record-run figure is not the standard Chiron’s road-use maximum.

How much does a Bugatti Chiron cost?
There is no single price that makes $2.6 million a dependable answer across markets and dates. Bugatti announced a €2.4 million net base price at the Chiron’s 2016 launch. In 2017, it stated a U.S. price of $2.998 million including shipping, duties, taxes and charges. These are dated commercial figures with different market and price bases, not a current universal price or an estimate of today’s resale value. How the Chiron Sport compares
The Chiron Sport was presented as a handling-focused variant rather than a higher-power version. Bugatti said it retained the standard Chiron’s stated power and performance data while adding a handling package.
