Autocar India’s 15 October 2026 launch report says the two colours bring no mechanical changes. The reported 652cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine continues to produce 45 hp and 55 Nm in either finish. In practical terms, the rider gets the same acceleration potential, cruising hardware, braking specification, riding position and quoted weight whichever colour is selected.
Is Brooklands Black faster than Birmingham Blue?
No. No published specification or launch report establishes a performance difference. Both retain the same engine outputs, five-speed transmission, Brembo disc brakes, ABS and 213 kg quoted kerb mass. Any difference a rider feels would be attributable to running-in, tyre condition, fuel load, weather, rider input or manufacturing variation—not a documented Brooklands tune.
What the shared equipment means on the road
- 45 hp at 6,500 rpm: the peak-power figure is identical, so neither colour has a higher-speed advantage on paper.
- 55 Nm at 4,000 rpm: the same torque peak supports the same stated mid-range specification for overtakes and inclines.

Brooklands Black Legacy Edition: the ornate option
Brooklands Black uses deep black paint with gold pinstriping across chrome-finished fenders and chrome detailing on the fuel tank. It adds a quilted seat and further trim touches. Is ₹9,000 a reasonable premium?
There is no objective performance return on the extra ₹9,000: the engine, cycle parts and quoted mass are unchanged. The value is visual and tactile. You are paying for the black paint, additional chrome, gold striping, quilted seat and the Legacy Edition presentation. If those details would otherwise require aftermarket work, the factory-finished package may be worthwhile. - Test the ergonomics, not the colour. Sit on the motorcycle and check the 780 mm seat height, bar reach, foot-peg position and ability to move the 213 kg machine at parking speeds. Those factors affect daily satisfaction far more than a brochure finish.
Ownership considerations that can change the choice
Cleaning and finish care
Brooklands Black’s chrome and gold detailing create more visual impact but also give you more surfaces to keep clean and inspect. Road film, water spots and oxidation are easier to notice on bright metal and deep black paint. Birmingham Blue still needs normal motorcycle care, but its simpler colour-and-badge treatment may be less demanding for owners who ride in poor weather or park outdoors.
Damage and replacement questions
