The current Brompton Electric P Line e-Motiq is built for riders who want electric assistance in a compact folding bike and expect to carry or lift it often. Brompton says it weighs from 16 kg with the battery, is 1.5 kg lighter than the Electric C Line, and can travel up to 90 km on a charge. Those are manufacturer figures, not independently verified results here—and Brompton’s own pages list different weights, so confirm the exact configuration before buying.
What the current Electric P Line is
This review concerns the current UK-listed Electric P Line with Brompton’s e-Motiq system. Brompton lists three assistance modes, four gears, and a claimed range of up to 90 km. The bike combines steel, titanium and carbon, including a titanium rear frame and carbon fork. Brompton says the P Line is 1.5 kg lighter than the Electric C Line. See Brompton’s current Electric P Line specifications.
The claimed range is a maximum, not a guaranteed commute distance. Brompton says range varies with assist level, terrain and rider weight. Its buying guide describes a 345 Wh battery and 250-watt rear hub motor, and gives a separate maximum of up to five continuous hours. Neither figure is an independent range test. Weight: check the exact bike and what is included
Brompton’s current UK product page lists a starting weight of 16 kg with the battery and 12.5 kg without it. Its buying guide instead lists 16.4 kg with the battery and 13 kg without. The published pages do not explain whether the difference comes from configuration or measurement conventions; do not average the numbers or assume one applies to every listing.

Also check the gear configuration and handlebar style: official pages describe configurations in different contexts.
Is the lighter P Line worth choosing over the Electric C Line?
The clearest stated advantage is weight: Brompton says the Electric P Line is 1.5 kg lighter than the Electric C Line and identifies its titanium rear frame and carbon fork as part of the construction. The buying guide says the P Line is around 17% more expensive than the C Line, but that is a relative statement in the guide—not a current price quote. The weight difference matters most if you regularly lift the whole bike up stairs, onto a train, or into a car. If you can roll the folded bike for much of the journey, the advantage may matter less. Brompton describes SuperRoll as an aid for rolling a folded bike, but the available specifications do not establish how stable or convenient that is in your circumstances. A test ride or in-person fold-and-roll check can help answer that.
Electric P Line or non-electric P Line?
The electric model adds pedal assistance and a battery system; that may be valuable on a hilly route, a longer commute, or when you want assistance without arriving as tired. It also means more weight to manage, particularly when carrying the complete bike with the battery installed.

Brompton’s non-electric P Line page describes a titanium-and-steel platform with carbon and aluminum components, four- or twelve-gear options, and a starting weight of 9.86 kg. That starting figure is not a like-for-like comparison with the Electric P Line’s varying published weights, but it illustrates the basic tradeoff: choose the electric model for assistance, or the non-electric model if reducing bike weight is the priority. What to check before buying
- Your carrying routine: Will you lift the bike with its battery, remove the battery before carrying, or mostly roll it folded? Consider stairs and transit transfers on your actual route.
- Your route and charging habits: Consider hills, how much assistance you expect to use, rider and cargo load, and where you can recharge. Treat up to 90 km as Brompton’s claim, not a promised distance for your commute.
- The exact specification: Confirm model generation, gear count, handlebar style, included parts, and the complete weight basis. Ask the seller to resolve the difference between Brompton’s product-page and buying-guide weights for the configuration on offer.
- Your local terms: Brompton says its electric bikes can be taken on most public transport, subject to operator rules. Its UK product page lists a seven-year frame warranty, a three-year electric-system warranty when registered, and a 28-day returns policy. Check the conditions and availability that apply in your market.
- A ride and fold check: Brompton says test rides can be booked through local dealers. Use one to assess the assist, ride feel, folding and battery handling for yourself; the published specifications do not establish these hands-on qualities.
Make sure you are comparing the current generation
An older Brompton USA Electric P Line listing describes a 300 Wh battery and a 20–45 mile (30–70 km) range. Those figures belong to that older listing and should not be combined with the current UK e-Motiq specifications. Verify the generation and market-specific specification of any bike you are considering. Older Brompton USA Electric P Line listing.

Verdict
The Electric P Line makes the strongest case for a rider who values electric assistance but also expects to fold, lift or transfer a bike regularly. Its lighter construction than the Electric C Line is a manufacturer-stated distinction, while the practical benefit depends on how you carry or roll your bike and on the configuration you buy. Before committing, confirm the exact weight and generation, compare local prices, and try the fold and assist system in person if possible.
