Use Bosch eBike Flow only when your bicycle has Bosch’s Smart System. A Smart System bike with components such as the LED Remote, System Controller, Purion 200/400, Intuvia 100 or Kiox 300/400C/500 is the intended Flow platform. An older Bosch eBike System 2 bike with a Kiox or Nyon display uses eBike Connect instead. System 2 bikes fitted with Intuvia or Purion cannot pair with either app. SmartphoneHub and COBI.Bike hardware follow a separate COBI.Bike app path.
The distinction is hardware-based, not a matter of downloading the newest application. Bosch keeps Flow, eBike Connect and COBI.Bike as separate ecosystems, and eBike Connect data cannot be transferred to the Smart System platform. Identify the display and control unit mounted on the bike before creating an account or buying an accessory.

What the three Bosch e-bike apps are for
Bosch’s apps are tied to different generations of drive-system hardware. The names can look interchangeable in an app store, but they do different jobs and cannot be swapped freely.

Bosch describes Flow as the control centre for an e-bike with the Smart System, connecting directly to components such as the LED Remote, Purion 200, Kiox 400C and System Controller. That description is a hardware definition: a System 2 display cannot be made into a Smart System component by installing Flow.

How to identify the Bosch system on your bike
Look at the physical display and control unit, not just the motor name, model year or the app you happen to have installed. Two bikes sold in the same year can use different generations, and a frame or motor label alone does not establish app compatibility.
Smart System indicators
- LED Remote: the compact handlebar control used by many Smart System bikes.
- System Controller and Mini Remote: integrated or supplemental Smart System controls.
- Purion 200 or Purion 400: Smart System displays; these are different from the older System 2 Purion.
- Intuvia 100: the Smart System version of the Intuvia name.
- Kiox 300, Kiox 400C or Kiox 500: Smart System displays. The “300/400C/500” designation matters because older Kiox units belong to System 2.
System 2 indicators
- Kiox or Nyon without the Smart System designation: Bosch identifies these older displays with eBike Connect.
- System 2 Intuvia or Purion: Bosch says these displays cannot be combined with Flow or eBike Connect.
COBI hardware indicators
A SmartphoneHub or a COBI.Bike unit indicates the separate COBI.Bike ecosystem. Bosch has discontinued sales of that hardware, so an existing unit may still determine the appropriate app even though it is no longer a current purchase route.
If the markings are worn, check the display’s startup screen, the control unit’s label and the bicycle’s original documentation. When those clues conflict, the fitted display and control unit are the decisive evidence. Bosch also warns that products and features can vary by country, so use the guidance for the market in which the bike is operated.

“Not the intended app” means that the hardware is outside Bosch’s stated pairing path; it is not a recommendation to try both applications. A bike can also contain a mix of components, so confirm the exact configuration rather than relying on a single accessory name.
What eBike Flow does on a Smart System bike
Control and personalization
Flow connects to the Smart System over Bluetooth and acts as the digital control centre. Bosch documents functions for adjusting and customizing the e-bike. The available settings depend on the fitted components and the market, so the menus on one Smart System bike may not exactly match another.
Updates and additional services
The app can download and install new functions and services over Bluetooth. This is a Smart System capability; it does not upgrade a System 2 bike. Keep the phone close to the bicycle, maintain a stable connection and follow the app’s on-screen instructions when an installation is offered.

Phone display with SmartphoneGrip
With a compatible Bosch SmartphoneGrip, Flow can use a phone as a handlebar display on a compatible Smart System bike. The grip is an accessory for that platform, not an adapter that converts a System 2 Kiox, Nyon, Intuvia or Purion bike into a Flow bike. Verify the precise bicycle, grip and phone fit before buying because compatibility and current product availability can vary.
What eBike Connect does for System 2 Kiox and Nyon
eBike Connect is the relevant Bosch app when an older System 2 bike has a Kiox or Nyon display. It connects the phone and display by Bluetooth, provides e-bike setting controls and transfers planned routes to the display.
Bluetooth pairing
Install eBike Connect, turn on the Kiox or Nyon, enable Bluetooth on the phone and follow the pairing prompts in the app. Pairing the phone to the bicycle’s general Bluetooth menu instead of completing the in-app process can leave the display unregistered, so use the connection flow shown by eBike Connect.
Settings and route transfer
Once paired, use the app’s e-bike settings controls and its route-transfer function for the Kiox or Nyon. Route transfer is a documented eBike Connect feature; it does not imply that route history or other account data can later be imported into Flow.
Where COBI.Bike fits
COBI.Bike is for bikes equipped with SmartphoneHub or COBI.Bike hardware. Its documented functions include using a phone as a handlebar display, controlling audio apps, viewing weather information and accessing additional safety features.
This path is separate from both Flow and eBike Connect. Do not select COBI.Bike merely because a bike has a phone mount, and do not assume that a SmartphoneHub can be replaced by a SmartphoneGrip. Bosch states that sales of SmartphoneHub and COBI.Bike hardware have been discontinued; owners of existing hardware should use the app associated with that hardware and check current Bosch support information for market-specific details.

Can an older Bosch bike be moved to Flow?
Not through an app installation or account change. Bosch defines Flow around Smart System hardware. A System 2 Kiox or Nyon remains an eBike Connect bike, while System 2 Intuvia and Purion bikes cannot pair with either application. A SmartphoneGrip also does not change that generation-level compatibility.
Moving from System 2 to Smart System would require a separately engineered hardware configuration, not simply a new phone app. The available evidence does not establish a universal retrofit or a model-by-model conversion procedure, so do not buy an accessory on the assumption that it will create compatibility.
Accounts, SingleKey ID and data separation
Flow registration
An eBike Connect login cannot be used to sign in to Flow. Registering for Flow creates or uses a Bosch SingleKey ID. Bosch also says that a COBI.Bike account can be used for Flow, as can other Bosch accounts that use SingleKey ID.

Bosch says eBike Connect, COBI.Bike and Flow remain separate solutions and that eBike Connect data cannot be transferred to the Smart System platform. Treat activity history, saved routes and other records as belonging to the original ecosystem. Do not promise yourself that a new Flow account will reproduce an older eBike Connect history.
Practical account checklist
- Identify the display and control unit before registering anything.
- Use eBike Connect for a System 2 Kiox or Nyon.
- Use Flow for confirmed Smart System hardware.
- Use COBI.Bike for an existing SmartphoneHub or COBI.Bike unit.
- Keep the original account credentials if you need to access historical records in the older ecosystem.
Step-by-step: choosing and connecting the correct app
Step 1: Record the hardware
Write down every visible display and control-unit name. Distinguish Kiox 300/400C/500 from an older Kiox, and Purion 200/400 or Intuvia 100 from System 2 Purion or Intuvia.
Step 2: Classify the platform
Use the compatibility tables above. Smart System hardware points to Flow; System 2 Kiox or Nyon points to eBike Connect; System 2 Intuvia or Purion has no pairing path in either app; SmartphoneHub or COBI.Bike points to COBI.Bike.

Step 3: Check country-specific guidance
Bosch notes that product and feature availability can differ locally. Confirm the applicable Bosch country guidance before relying on a feature, purchasing an accessory or making a compatibility decision.
Step 4: Install only the matching app
Installing every Bosch app does not broaden compatibility and can make account selection confusing. Start with the app assigned to the hardware generation.
Step 5: Pair over Bluetooth
Power on the display, enable Bluetooth on the phone and complete pairing inside the selected app. Keep the phone and bicycle close together during pairing or a Flow update.
Step 6: Test the function you need
For Flow, confirm that the Smart System controls appear and that the desired settings or services are available. For eBike Connect, confirm that the Kiox or Nyon connects and that a planned route can be transferred. For COBI.Bike, verify the phone display and the audio, weather or safety functions relevant to your hardware.

Flow cannot find the bicycle
- Check that the bike actually has Smart System hardware rather than a System 2 Kiox or Nyon.
- Look for an LED Remote, System Controller, Mini Remote, Purion 200/400, Intuvia 100 or Kiox 300/400C/500.
- Turn Bluetooth on, wake the bicycle and retry pairing inside Flow.
- If the bike is a System 2 Intuvia or Purion, Bosch says neither Flow nor eBike Connect can pair with it; the failed search is expected.
eBike Connect cannot pair
- Confirm that the display is a System 2 Kiox or Nyon.
- If it is a Smart System Kiox 300/400C/500, switch to Flow instead.
- If it is System 2 Intuvia or Purion, neither app is supported.
- Complete Bluetooth pairing through eBike Connect rather than treating the phone’s generic Bluetooth list as the full setup.
The app requests a different account
Use a SingleKey ID for Flow. An eBike Connect login does not authenticate to Flow. A COBI.Bike account can be used for Flow according to Bosch, but that does not transfer eBike Connect records to the Smart System platform.

A phone mount does not work as expected
A generic mount is not a SmartphoneGrip, and a SmartphoneGrip is not a compatibility bridge for System 2. Verify that the bicycle is Smart System-equipped and that the phone and grip are a supported combination.

Buying or upgrading: what to verify first
- For a current Smart System purchase: ask the seller to identify the exact display and control unit, not just the motor family, and confirm that the desired Flow features are available in your country.
- For a used System 2 Kiox or Nyon bike: plan on eBike Connect and do not value it as though it included Flow compatibility.
- For a System 2 Intuvia or Purion bike: assume no pairing with Flow or eBike Connect unless Bosch provides a specific, applicable exception.
- For a SmartphoneHub or COBI.Bike bike: verify that the existing hardware still functions and understand that Bosch has discontinued hardware sales.
- For a SmartphoneGrip: treat it as a Smart System accessory only, and verify fit before purchase.
How to avoid the most common compatibility mistakes
Mistaking the product name for the generation
“Kiox,” “Intuvia” and “Purion” are family names used across generations. The exact model number and Smart System designation matter more than the family name.
Assuming a newer app supports every older bike
Flow is not a universal replacement for Bosch’s earlier apps. The app follows the electronics installed on the bicycle.
Expecting account migration
Separate ecosystems mean separate records. Bosch’s statement that eBike Connect data cannot transfer to Smart System should be treated as a firm planning constraint.
Buying an accessory before checking the display
Accessories such as SmartphoneGrip add functions to compatible Smart System bikes; they do not make unsupported System 2 hardware compatible.
Bottom line for a specific bike
Read the display and control-unit labels, classify the bike as Smart System, System 2 Kiox/Nyon, System 2 Intuvia/Purion or COBI hardware, and then install the matching app. Flow is the choice for confirmed Smart System components; eBike Connect is for System 2 Kiox and Nyon; System 2 Intuvia and Purion have no pairing option in either; COBI.Bike belongs to SmartphoneHub or COBI.Bike hardware. Bosch’s country-specific availability notes and the exact fitted parts should settle any case that the name on the display does not.
