Bombardier’s Global 8000 business jet entered service in December 2025. The company now lists its top speed as Mach 0.95, updating the Mach 0.94 figure used in its 2025 production-flight announcements. Bombardier calls it the fastest civil aircraft since Concorde—a manufacturer’s comparison, not a claim that the Global 8000 is faster than Concorde.
What does Mach 0.94 mean for the Global 8000?
Mach 0.94 was Bombardier’s stated top speed in its April and May 2025 announcements, when the first production aircraft was nearing or completing its maiden flight. In a November 2025 certification announcement, Bombardier raised the stated top speed to Mach 0.95. Its January 2026 release repeated Mach 0.95. The later figure is therefore the company’s current published top-speed claim in the announcements covered here.
Mach is a ratio of an aircraft’s speed to the local speed of sound, which varies with atmospheric conditions. It is not a fixed miles-per-hour conversion. Bombardier’s figures describe stated performance, not a speed every flight will attain.
Top speed, cruise speed and a record flight are different figures
| Figure | What it describes | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| Mach 0.95 | Bombardier’s stated top speed | Bombardier, November 5, 2025; reiterated January 23, 2026 |
| Mach 0.92 | Ultra-high cruise speed cited by Bombardier in its May 2025 release, with up to 4,200 nautical miles at that average cruise speed | Bombardier, May 20, 2025 |
| Mach 0.93 | Speed reached on a Los Angeles–Farnborough record flight, not the aircraft’s stated top speed | Bombardier, July 20, 2026 |
On that July 2026 flight, Bombardier reported a journey time of 8 hours 46 minutes and said the flight was 2.2% faster than the previous record for that city pair. The release noted that some records were still pending review by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI). The Mach 0.93 mission figure should not be confused with the separately stated Mach 0.95 top speed.

Is the Global 8000 faster than Concorde?
No. “Fastest civil aircraft since Concorde” means Bombardier presents the Global 8000 as the fastest civil aircraft after Concorde’s era; it does not say the Global 8000 exceeds Concorde’s speed. The Global 8000 is a business jet, and its stated Mach 0.95 top speed is below the speed implied by the word “supersonic.” Do not read the “since Concorde” comparison as a claim that the Global 8000 is a supersonic passenger jet.
The comparison is Bombardier’s own positioning. The company announcements cited here do not provide an independent ranking across all civil aircraft or a like-for-like specification table for Concorde and the Global 8000.

What range and cabin figure has Bombardier published?
Bombardier lists an 8,000-nautical-mile range for the Global 8000. Its January 2026 release also gives a cabin altitude of 2,691 feet while cruising at 41,000 feet. The company cautions that specifications and data are subject to operating rules, assumptions and other conditions, so these figures should be read as published performance specifications rather than guarantees for every flight.
