Ducati Multistrada V4 RS: a sport-focused adventure tourer
Ducati’s US description uses the phrase “Track performance, Multistrada soul.” That is marketing language, but it accurately signals the intended blend: the V4 RS keeps the Multistrada’s touring brief while adding the family’s most performance-oriented engine and chassis specification. The UK MY26 technical page lists adaptive cruise control, full-map navigation and Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 electronic suspension. Confirm which items are standard on the motorcycle sold in your country.

On the published ratings, the Ducati produces 71 hp more at its peak. That is a large difference in high-rpm performance potential, but peak power is not a complete description of how either motorcycle responds in traffic or on a winding road. The BMW reaches its listed torque peak at 6,500 rpm; the Ducati reaches a very similar peak torque figure at 9,500 rpm. Their different engine layouts, displacement and rpm points mean you should not infer identical low-speed response from the similar torque numbers.
The boxer’s 1,170 cc capacity is slightly larger than the Ducati’s 1,103 cc, yet the liquid-cooled V4 is rated much higher because output depends on configuration, tuning, airflow, rev range and many other factors, not displacement alone. The difference is 45 mm at the Ducati’s lowest stated setting and 65 mm at its highest. That is large enough to change how easily a rider can put both feet down, shuffle the motorcycle backward or catch a cambered stop. Inseam length alone is not a complete fit test: seat width, suspension sag, boot sole thickness, handlebar reach and the position of the foot controls all matter.
How to check fit before purchase
- Ask the dealer to show the exact seat and suspension configuration included in the quotation, not a display bike with different accessories.

BMW’s figures are shown on its US R 12 nineT page; Ducati’s figure is on the US Multistrada V4 RS page. Which motorcycle suits common riding plans?
Mostly city streets and short weekend rides
