BMW India lists the current M5 at ₹2,11,50,000 (₹2.115 crore) ex-showroom. Published Chennai on-road estimates for 2026 are approximately ₹2.65 crore to ₹2.68 crore, depending mainly on registration, insurance and other charges. Those figures are estimates rather than dealer quotations; the amount payable is the dated, itemised price offered by an authorised BMW partner.
BMW M5 price in Chennai at a glance
The current BMW M5 is priced at ₹2,11,50,000 ex-showroom in BMW India’s configurator, accessed on 13 October 2026. In crore terms, that is ₹2.115 crore. The ex-showroom figure is the manufacturer’s listed vehicle price before Chennai registration, road tax, insurance and other statutory or local charges.

For a Chennai buyer, two recently published calculators place the complete on-road amount in a narrow but important band. Autocar India’s page, last updated 10 August 2026, shows ₹2,67,55,350. A separate CarDekho estimate for September 2026 shows ₹2,64,77,718. The difference between those headline totals is ₹2,77,632, so a buyer should treat both as budgeting references rather than a guaranteed invoice.

BMW’s own notice is decisive for a purchase: the price prevailing at invoicing applies, and listed prices can change. BMW also says its displayed price excludes road tax, Tax Collected at Source (TCS), RTO charges, statutory taxes and fees, other local levies and insurance.

How much higher is the Chennai on-road price?
Against the ₹2,11,50,000 ex-showroom figure, the Autocar estimate adds ₹56,05,350, taking the indicative total to ₹2,67,55,350. The CarDekho headline total represents an indicated increase of ₹53,27,718. These are not fixed percentages that every buyer will pay; they reflect the registration, insurance and fee assumptions used by each calculator.
The two totals should therefore be compared by date and by line item. A lower headline amount can result from a lower insurance assumption rather than a lower BMW vehicle price. Conversely, a higher insurance premium or a different treatment of local charges can push the payable amount upward without any change to the M5’s ex-showroom price.
What the Chennai on-road estimates include
An on-road figure combines the ex-showroom vehicle price with costs required to register and legally drive it, plus insurance and any listed miscellaneous charges. The published Chennai calculations use different assumptions, which explains why their totals do not match.
Autocar India estimate
| Component | Amount |
|---|---|
| Ex-showroom | ₹2,11,50,000 |
| RTO | ₹42,30,000 |
| Insurance | ₹11,63,250 |
| Other charges | ₹2,12,100 |
| Estimated on-road total | ₹2,67,55,350 |
This is explicitly an estimate, and the page warns that the final amount may vary. Its insurance allowance is substantially higher than the separate calculator’s figure, making insurance the largest visible reason for the higher total.

CarDekho estimate
| Component | Amount |
|---|---|
| Ex-showroom | ₹2,11,50,000 |
| Registration | ₹42,33,300 |
| Insurance | ₹8,44,818 |
| Other charges | ₹2,11,500 |
| Estimated on-road total | ₹2,64,77,718 |
The two tables use almost identical ex-showroom prices and registration-related amounts. The visible insurance difference is ₹3,18,432; registration differs by ₹3,300 and other charges by ₹600. However, the CarDekho component figures shown above add to ₹2,64,39,618, which is ₹38,100 below its displayed total of ₹2,64,77,718. That arithmetic discrepancy is another reason to use the calculator only for an initial budget and to request a dealer’s reconciled, itemised quotation.
Why an estimate is not your final BMW M5 bill
Online calculators generally apply a standard set of assumptions to a city and vehicle. Your actual amount can depend on the registration calculation in force when the car is invoiced, the insurer and policy selected, optional coverage, the exact fee schedule, and any local levy or dealer-disclosed charge. A calculator also cannot lock in a future invoice date.
BMW states that its invoiced price prevails. That means a configurator figure viewed today is not a price guarantee for a vehicle invoiced later. Options and prices may change as well. Before paying a booking amount or arranging finance, ask the authorised BMW partner to issue a quotation dated for the transaction and to identify every included and excluded item.

How to compare Chennai quotations correctly
Do not compare only the large “on-road” total. Put each quotation on the same basis and check the following lines:
Rank #3
- SOLIDO BRAND QUALITY: Solido is known for producing high-quality diecast model cars with exceptional detail, durable construction, and accurate representations of real vehicles. Each model is crafted with precision and built to last.
- BMW BRAND MODEL: This BMW G90 M5 Sedan model represents a modern performance sedan associated with the 2024 model year. It reflects the bold proportions, aggressive styling, and performance-focused design cues linked to BMW M vehicles, capturing the visual identity and distinctive appearance associated with contemporary German high-performance sedan engineering.
- FEATURES & DETAILS: This 1:43 scale diecast model measures approximately 4.6 inches in length and is finished in Marina Bay Blue. Designed as a sealed display model with no opening parts, it highlights sedan proportions, sharp body lines, and performance-inspired styling elements, offering a representation suited for collectors focused on modern sports sedans and automotive design innovation.
- TOP QUALITY MATERIALS: Constructed with a diecast metal body and plastic components, this model provides structural balance while allowing fine detailing across exterior features. The paint application is evenly applied to reflect the intended finish, while smaller components contribute to the overall appearance, supporting a clean, consistent, and visually refined presentation suitable for shelves and display environments.
- COLLECTIBLE DISPLAY ITEM: This BMW G90 M5 Sedan model is intended for collectors aged 14 and above and is designed for display purposes. With its modern performance styling and detailed finish, it fits well within collections focused on German performance vehicles, particularly for enthusiasts of contemporary sports sedans and high-performance automotive engineering.
- Vehicle price: confirm that the ex-showroom amount is ₹2,11,50,000 or identify the current replacement figure if BMW has revised it.
- Registration and RTO: check whether the quotation calls this RTO, registration or a combined road-tax line, and whether the amount is calculated for Tamil Nadu registration.
- Insurance: ask for the insurer, policy type, duration, deductibles and add-ons. The two published estimates show why this line can materially change the total.
- TCS and statutory items: BMW lists TCS and statutory taxes or fees among exclusions from its displayed price. Confirm how the dealer has treated each one.
- Other charges: require a description rather than accepting a single unexplained lump sum.
- Options and accessories: separate factory options, accessories and any package from the base M5 price.
- Validity: note the quotation’s expiry date and the condition that the price prevailing at invoicing applies.
- Arithmetic: add every component yourself and check that it equals the stated total. Published online tables can contain rounding, omitted lines or reconciliation differences.
Once every line is itemised, you can compare a dealer quotation with the ₹2.65–₹2.68 crore online range without mistaking a different insurance assumption for a discount or surcharge.
What car is included in the current M5 price?
The current Indian M5 is the G90-generation M5 Sedan described by BMW India as a plug-in hybrid. It combines a V8 petrol engine with electric drive, rather than being the petrol-only configuration associated with earlier M5 generations.
| Specification | BMW India description |
|---|---|
| Powertrain | V8 petrol engine with electric drive in a plug-in hybrid system |
| System output | 535 kW (727 hp) |
| Top speed | 305 km/h with the M Driver’s package |
These specifications identify the model behind the current price. They do not establish a different Chennai registration charge or insurance amount. Registration and insurance are calculated from the applicable rules, declared vehicle value and policy terms, not from a separate performance surcharge stated by BMW.
Current price versus the original India launch price
BMW Group India’s launch release announced an ex-showroom price of ₹1,99,00,000 for the all-new M5. That is historical launch pricing, not the current Chennai purchase price. BMW India’s configurator now lists ₹2,11,50,000, which is ₹12,50,000 higher than the launch figure.

Launch-release wording should also be kept in context. BMW Group India President and CEO Vikram Pawah called the M5 “the original performance sedan” in that release. It is a company statement describing the launch, not an independent evaluation and not a promise about today’s equipment or price.
Step-by-step: getting the amount you will actually pay
- Check the current BMW India configurator. Record the displayed M5 ex-showroom price and the date you checked it.
- Choose the exact vehicle specification. Confirm colour, trim, factory options and any accessories that affect the vehicle or invoice.
- Request a Chennai quotation from an authorised BMW partner. Ask for a document showing ex-showroom, registration or RTO, insurance, TCS, statutory fees, local levies, other charges and any options as separate lines.
- Verify insurance assumptions. Compare the insurer, coverage, add-ons and policy period rather than comparing only the premium total.
- Check the quotation validity and invoicing condition. BMW says the price prevailing at invoicing applies, so ask what happens if delivery or invoicing moves beyond the quoted date.
- Reconcile the total. Add every line yourself and confirm that the arithmetic equals the stated on-road amount.
- Obtain a final dated quote before payment. Keep the version that identifies the vehicle and all charges; an online estimate should not replace this document.
Budgeting for a Chennai purchase
For early planning, the manufacturer’s ₹2.115-crore ex-showroom figure is the starting point, while the available Chennai estimates suggest a total near ₹2.65–₹2.68 crore. The difference is roughly ₹50 lakh to ₹56 lakh in these published examples, largely represented by registration, insurance and other charges. That spread is a planning range, not a fixed tax percentage or a guaranteed amount.
Use the lower figure only as a scenario, not as an expected dealer price. If your selected insurance policy resembles the higher allowance in Autocar India’s calculation, the final total may sit closer to the upper end. Conversely, a different policy or fee treatment can move it lower without changing the BMW-listed vehicle price.

Common mistakes when searching “BMW M5 price in Chennai”
- Confusing ex-showroom with on-road: ₹2.115 crore does not include the charges BMW lists as exclusions.
- Treating a calculator as an offer: both Chennai figures are third-party estimates and may vary.
- Using an old launch article: ₹1.99 crore was the launch price; the current configurator lists ₹2.115 crore.
- Ignoring the quote date: BMW says the price at invoicing applies, and prices or options may change.
- Comparing totals with different insurance: insurance assumptions account for much of the difference between the two published estimates.
- Accepting “other charges” without detail: ask the dealer to identify each fee and whether it is statutory, local or optional.
- Failing to reconcile the calculator: check that displayed component amounts actually add up to the headline total.
- Assuming hybrid performance changes registration: the M5’s 727-hp system and 305-km/h capability describe the car, not a separate Chennai charge.
Bottom line for buyers
Plan on an ex-showroom BMW M5 price of ₹2,11,50,000 today, and use approximately ₹2.65 crore to ₹2.68 crore as a provisional Chennai on-road range based on the dated estimates available for 2026. The only reliable payable figure is a current, itemised quotation from an authorised BMW partner that reflects the invoicing date, registration calculation, insurance policy and every statutory or local charge.
