They are not a like-for-like comparison—and the “Ferrari Amalfi Spider” is not confirmed by the official Ferrari material available here. BMW documents an India-market i5 Long Wheelbase electric sedan, while Ferrari’s technical sheet covers the petrol-powered Amalfi berlinetta. The BMW is a long-wheelbase executive car designed for quiet, spacious daily travel; the Amalfi is a compact, high-performance 2+ grand tourer. The figures below keep those identities separate rather than assigning berlinetta specifications to an unverified Spider.
Is there an officially specified Ferrari Amalfi Spider?
The first question is model identity. Ferrari’s official English technical sheet found for this comparison is headed “Amalfi” and describes a berlinetta. It specifies a 3,855 cc twin-turbo V8, an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, 640 cv, 760 Nm, a 320 km/h maximum speed and a 2+ body format. It does not identify a Spider or provide open-top Spider dimensions, performance, pricing or availability.

A secondary comparison listing uses the name “Amalfi Spider” and repeats several of the berlinetta’s headline numbers. That page is not primary confirmation that Ferrari has announced, homologated or priced a Spider. Until Ferrari publishes a Spider announcement or technical sheet, treat the Spider name as unverified. The safest comparison is therefore the India-market BMW i5 LWB versus the officially documented Ferrari Amalfi berlinetta, with a separate note wherever Spider-specific information is requested.

This distinction matters because a convertible can have different weight, structural reinforcement, aerodynamics, luggage space, acceleration and top-speed figures from a fixed-roof car. None of those differences can be inferred reliably from the berlinetta sheet.

What the BMW i5 LWB is designed to do
Long-wheelbase executive format
The i5 LWB measures 5,175 mm from nose to tail and has a 3,105 mm wheelbase. That wheelbase is the central reason to choose this version: it allocates substantial space to the passenger compartment, especially the rear seating area, rather than pursuing the shortest possible body. BMW’s India material highlights rear-cabin comfort, rear-axle air suspension, a panoramic glass roof and driver-assistance and parking functions.
The car is 2,156 mm wide and 1,520 mm high. Those dimensions can make narrow parking structures, older city lanes and tight turning areas more demanding than a smaller sedan. BMW does not publish a boot-volume figure in the specifications supplied for this comparison, so no numerical luggage advantage should be assumed from the car’s overall length.

Electric power and stated performance
BMW lists an 81.6 kWh high-voltage battery, 268 hp and 410 Nm. Its stated 0–100 km/h time is 6.7 seconds and maximum speed is 195 km/h. These are BMW-published figures for the India-market i5 LWB, not measured results from an independent test. Instant electric torque makes the car responsive in normal traffic, but the specification is aimed at refined executive transport rather than supercar acceleration.
Range is an MIDC test-cycle claim
BMW advertises up to 669 km on the MIDC cycle. “Up to” is important: BMW says actual range varies with driving style, route, temperature, climate-control use and pre-conditioning. MIDC is a prescribed test procedure, so 669 km should not be presented as a guaranteed distance in everyday Indian traffic. Highway speed, heat, monsoon conditions, passengers and luggage can all change the result.

Charging and home installation
BMW’s September 7, 2026 launch release states that the i5 LWB accepts DC charging at up to 160 kW and can charge from 10% to 80% in 33 minutes under suitable conditions. Charging speed depends on the charger, battery temperature, state of charge and site power; the headline time is not a promise that every public charger will deliver it.
BMW also says a complimentary BMW Wallbox installation is included for home charging up to 11 kW. Confirm the electrical survey, cable route, apartment permissions and installation scope with the authorised dealer. The available material establishes the Wallbox offer, but does not specify a separate accessory that a buyer must purchase.
India production and launch edition
BMW Group India says the i5 LWB is locally produced at BMW Group Plant Chennai. Its August 21, 2026 booking release described a launch First Edition limited to 99 customers. A September 7, 2026 release announced the India launch and said deliveries would begin immediately. Edition allocation and equipment can change, so request a written specification for the exact vehicle being offered.
What the Ferrari Amalfi berlinetta represents
Compact 2+ grand-tourer proportions
The official Ferrari sheet gives the Amalfi a 4,660 mm length, 1,974 mm width, 1,301 mm height and 2,670 mm wheelbase. It lists a 273-litre boot and an 80-litre fuel tank. Compared with the i5 LWB, it is 515 mm shorter and has a wheelbase 435 mm shorter. The two cars therefore serve different packaging priorities: the BMW creates a roomy sedan cabin, while the Amalfi concentrates its footprint around a low, compact performance body.
V8 performance figures
Ferrari specifies a 3,855 cc twin-turbo V8 producing 640 cv at 7,500 rpm and 760 Nm between 3,000 and 5,750 rpm. The eight-speed dual-clutch transmission sends that performance through a petrol powertrain. Ferrari quotes 3.3 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, 9.0 seconds from 0 to 200 km/h and a maximum speed of 320 km/h.

Those numbers describe the Amalfi berlinetta exactly as Ferrari’s sheet identifies it. They should not be copied into a listing for an Amalfi Spider. A Spider would need its own certified mass, roof mechanism, chassis setup and aerodynamic data before a meaningful specification could be written.

Fuel and emissions information
The Ferrari sheet lists the 80-litre tank, but marks fuel consumption and CO₂ figures as under homologation. It therefore does not provide a final, comparable fuel-economy number in the material available here. Nor does it establish a driving range. Converting tank size into a range would require an official consumption figure and a defined test cycle.
Performance: why the numbers should not be read as a race result
The Ferrari’s 3.3-second 0–100 km/h claim is 3.4 seconds quicker than BMW’s 6.7-second claim, and its 320 km/h maximum speed is 125 km/h higher than the i5 LWB’s 195 km/h limit. That gap reflects fundamentally different engineering goals: a low 2+ V8 berlinetta versus a large electric sedan prioritising passenger space, ride comfort and efficient everyday travel.
Acceleration figures also come from separate manufacturers and test conditions. There is no controlled back-to-back test in the available evidence. Tyres, surface, launch procedure, battery state, fuel load, temperature and measurement equipment can affect results, so the table is a specification comparison, not a verdict on which car would win a particular road test.
The i5 LWB’s 410 Nm is available from an electric drive system, while the Amalfi’s 760 Nm is quoted across a specified engine-speed range. Peak torque alone does not describe throttle response, traction or the character of either car. Buyers should drive each vehicle in the conditions that matter to them rather than infer an entire experience from one number.

Range, charging and refuelling are different ownership routines
Living with the i5 LWB
The BMW can be charged at home, where an 11 kW Wallbox installation is part of the stated launch offer, or at public DC sites. A 10–80% session is the relevant fast-charge window in BMW’s 33-minute claim. Owners who can charge overnight will generally plan around plugged-in parking; those without a dependable home or workplace connection need to map compatible public chargers before buying.
Do not use the 669 km MIDC figure to promise a fixed intercity itinerary. Build a plan around a conservative buffer and the availability of functioning chargers on the route. BMW’s own warning about temperature, route, climate control and pre-conditioning should be treated as part of the range specification, not as fine print to ignore.
Living with the Amalfi
The Amalfi uses petrol and an 80-litre tank. Refuelling is quicker than a full battery charging session when a suitable fuel station is immediately available, but the car’s official sheet does not state a final fuel-consumption value or range. Running-cost comparisons require current fuel prices, driving distance and a certified consumption figure for the exact market version.
Space, comfort and daily usability
| Use case | Likely advantage | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Rear-seat passengers | BMW i5 LWB | Its 3,105 mm wheelbase and sedan body are designed around rear-cabin space; BMW specifically highlights rear comfort. |
| Small footprint and low seating position | Ferrari Amalfi berlinetta | It is 515 mm shorter and 219 mm lower than the BMW, according to the official dimensions. |
| Luggage certainty | Ferrari, on published data | The Amalfi sheet states a 273-litre boot; no i5 LWB boot volume is supplied here. |
| Urban parking assistance | Depends on exact equipment | BMW highlights parking and driver-assistance features but warns that shown configurations may differ from vehicles supplied in India. |
| Open-air driving | Not established | The official Ferrari source here documents a berlinetta, not a Spider; no BMW convertible version is part of this comparison. |
BMW’s India highlight page cautions that displayed configurations may differ from cars delivered in India. Check the actual upholstery, rear-seat functions, suspension equipment, driver-assistance package and charging hardware on the order form rather than relying on an image or global-market description.

Why the comparison listing is not an equal price test
A CarWale comparison page shows an Indore on-road snapshot of ₹87.09 lakh for the BMW and ₹5.47 crore for the Ferrari pairing. These numbers use different bases from BMW’s ₹79.60 lakh starting price, and the Ferrari number is attached to an unconfirmed Spider listing. An on-road city estimate cannot be presented as an official Ferrari MSRP or as a timeless national price.
For a purchase decision, request written quotes from authorised local dealers that identify the model, body style, trim, date, tax treatment, registration assumptions and included equipment. There is no official India Ferrari Spider price established in the material available for this comparison.
Booking status
BMW’s September 7, 2026 launch release says bookings are available through dealerships and deliveries begin immediately. That statement applies to the India i5 LWB launch. It does not confirm a Ferrari Amalfi Spider booking programme, Indian allocation or delivery date.

Choose the BMW i5 LWB when your priority is executive practicality
- You regularly carry rear passengers and value a 3,105 mm wheelbase.
- You can install or access dependable AC or DC charging.
- You want a quiet electric sedan with a manufacturer-stated 669 km MIDC figure as a planning reference, not a guaranteed real-world distance.
- You prefer locally produced India-market support and a published BMW starting price.
- Comfort, rear-seat features and daily usability matter more than extreme acceleration or top speed.
Choose the documented Amalfi berlinetta when your priority is exotic performance
- You want a compact 2+ Ferrari with a twin-turbo V8 and the character of a petrol grand tourer.
- The manufacturer’s 3.3-second 0–100 km/h and 320 km/h claims are relevant to your use, such as enthusiast driving or track-oriented performance.
- A 273-litre boot and 80-litre fuel tank suit your travel pattern.
- You accept that the official technical sheet does not provide a final fuel-consumption figure in the material available here.
Pause if the purchase depends specifically on an Amalfi Spider
- Ask Ferrari or its authorised representative for a formal announcement identifying the Spider body style.
- Request the Spider’s certified power, weight, dimensions, boot volume, roof mechanism, acceleration, top speed and India-market status.
- Do not place a deposit based solely on a secondary comparison page that reproduces berlinetta numbers.
A practical verification checklist before you buy
- Confirm the exact model name. Make sure the paperwork says BMW i5 Long Wheelbase or an officially identified Ferrari Amalfi body style, not an unverified Spider label.
- Get a dated specification sheet. Check battery size, output, charging equipment and included features for the BMW; check engine output, transmission, performance and dimensions for the Ferrari.
- Match the price basis. Compare starting price with starting price, or on-road quote with on-road quote, in the same city and on the same date.
- Check availability in writing. Ask about allocation, production slot, estimated delivery, warranty and service location.
- Plan energy access. For the BMW, verify Wallbox installation, electrical capacity and public-charger coverage. For the Ferrari, identify fuel requirements and service arrangements.
- Inspect the delivered equipment. BMW warns that displayed configurations may differ from India-supplied cars, so match the vehicle identification and option list at handover.
- Test the relevant use case. Sit in the BMW’s rear seat and test its parking environment; evaluate the Ferrari’s entry, luggage space and driving position. Neither manufacturer’s headline number answers those questions.
Bottom line on “BMW i5 LWB vs Ferrari Amalfi Spider”
The BMW i5 LWB and the officially documented Ferrari Amalfi berlinetta are products for different jobs. The BMW is a 5,175 mm electric executive sedan with an 81.6 kWh battery, up to 669 km MIDC range and 160 kW DC charging. The Amalfi is a 4,660 mm petrol 2+ berlinetta with a 640 cv twin-turbo V8, 3.3-second 0–100 km/h performance and a 320 km/h maximum speed.
The “Spider” part of the title remains unresolved by the official Ferrari evidence available here. Until Ferrari confirms that body style and publishes its own specifications, use the berlinetta data only for the berlinetta, treat the secondary Spider price and performance listing as indicative rather than authoritative, and verify every India-market detail with the relevant manufacturer or authorised dealer.
