For most buyers, the 2025 Toyota Tundra SR5 is the best all-around configuration: it pairs the 389-hp i-FORCE V6 with useful towing equipment and more cab-and-bed flexibility than the luxury grades. Choose the SR to keep the entry price down, a Limited for more comfort and technology, a TRD Pro for factory off-road equipment, or a Platinum, 1794 Edition or Capstone for a more luxurious truck. The right cab, bed and powertrain still depend on how you plan to use it.
2025 Tundra trims and base prices
Toyota lists seven grades for the 2025 Tundra: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro and Capstone. The table shows Toyota’s listed base MSRPs for the configurations with prices specified on its 2025 model page. These are not out-the-door prices; destination, options, regional fees and incentives can change the amount you pay.
| Grade or powertrain version | Toyota-listed base MSRP | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| SR | $40,090 | Entry price and work-oriented use |
| SR5 | $45,960 | All-around value and towing equipment |
| Limited | $54,305 | More comfort and multimedia technology |
| Limited i-FORCE MAX | $58,005 | Limited equipment with the hybrid powertrain |
| Platinum | $63,675 | Luxury-focused equipment |
| Platinum i-FORCE MAX | $67,585 | Platinum equipment with the hybrid powertrain |
| 1794 Edition | $64,360 | Distinctive Western-inspired luxury styling |
| TRD Pro | Not stated in Toyota’s listed base-MSRP figures | Factory off-road-oriented equipment |
| Capstone | Not stated in Toyota’s listed base-MSRP figures | Top luxury specification |
Prices in the table are Toyota’s listed base MSRPs for the 2025 model, not quotes for a particular truck. Check a dealer quote and the vehicle’s window sticker for the exact configuration and charges.
Choose a powertrain for output, not an assumed fuel-economy gain
The 2025 Tundra has two powertrains. Toyota’s published figures establish output, but the supplied specifications do not provide fuel-economy comparisons, so they are not enough to determine whether the hybrid will save money on fuel for your driving.

| Powertrain | Published output | Availability |
|---|---|---|
| i-FORCE 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 | SR: 358 hp and 406 lb.-ft. of torque; SR5 and higher gas grades: 389 hp and 479 lb.-ft. | Gas version across the lineup; output depends on grade |
| i-FORCE MAX hybrid | 437 hp and 583 lb.-ft. of torque | Optional on Limited, Platinum and 1794 Edition; standard on TRD Pro and Capstone |
The Tundra’s published maximums are up to 12,000 lb of towing and 1,940 lb of payload. Those are lineup maximums, not ratings for every truck: actual capacity varies with configuration, drivetrain, equipment and conditions. Check the individual truck’s payload and tow labels, and confirm its rating against the trailer and load you intend to carry.
Which Tundra configuration should I buy?
SR: keep the entry price low
The SR is the lowest-priced grade in Toyota’s listed figures. Its work-oriented specification includes 18-inch styled-steel wheels and an 8-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia screen. It uses the 358-hp i-FORCE V6. Choose it when basic utility and lower starting cost matter more than the SR5’s added towing equipment and convenience features.

SR5: the best 2025 Tundra trim for most buyers
The SR5 is the strongest starting point for a broad mix of daily driving, hauling and towing. It has the 389-hp i-FORCE V6, 18-inch alloy wheels, a tow hitch receiver, an integrated trailer-brake controller and selectable TOW/HAUL modes. It also offers more cab-and-bed combinations than the higher luxury grades, which makes it easier to match the truck to passenger, cargo and parking needs.
Limited: a comfort-and-technology step up
The Limited adds 20-inch alloy wheels, a 14-inch multimedia touchscreen and SofTex-trimmed, 8-way power front seats. It is the first grade in the lineup where the i-FORCE MAX is available. Consider it if those cabin upgrades matter more to you than the SR5’s lower starting price.

Platinum: luxury-focused equipment
Platinum adds 20-inch dark-gray wheels, a panoramic roof and leather-trimmed, 10-way power seats. The i-FORCE MAX is available. It suits buyers prioritizing a more upscale cabin and features over the value proposition of SR5 or Limited.
1794 Edition: Western-inspired luxury
The 1794 Edition distinguishes itself with machined-finish wheels, chrome accents, a Saddle Tan interior and walnut-style trim. It is available with the i-FORCE MAX. Choose it for that specific design and cabin character rather than treating it as a separate capability package.

TRD Pro: factory off-road intent
The TRD Pro is the factory off-road-oriented flagship and comes standard with the 437-hp i-FORCE MAX. It is the natural grade to investigate if off-road equipment is the priority. Confirm the exact truck’s equipment and bed availability, since the combination can be constrained.
Capstone: the highest luxury specification
Capstone is the top luxury grade and includes the i-FORCE MAX as standard. It makes sense when maximum standard comfort and technology take priority over keeping the price down; it is not the value choice for buyers who mainly need a work truck.

Tundra SR5 vs Limited: what does the upgrade buy?
The SR5 emphasizes utility and flexibility, with an included hitch receiver, integrated trailer-brake controller, TOW/HAUL modes and a broader set of cab-and-bed choices. The Limited moves toward cabin comfort and screen size with 20-inch alloy wheels, SofTex-trimmed power seats and a 14-inch touchscreen. It also makes the hybrid powertrain available. If the SR5’s towing equipment and configuration choices fit your needs, the Limited’s higher starting price is most defensible when you value those cabin upgrades or want the i-FORCE MAX option.
Is the Tundra i-FORCE MAX worth it?
The i-FORCE MAX is the choice for buyers who value its published 437 hp and 583 lb.-ft. of torque, rather than the gas V6’s 358 hp and 406 lb.-ft. on SR or 389 hp and 479 lb.-ft. on SR5 and higher gas grades. It is optional on Limited, Platinum and 1794 Edition, and standard on TRD Pro and Capstone. Toyota’s figures here establish the output difference, not a fuel-economy payback; compare the specific trucks’ window stickers and prices before deciding whether the added output is worth the added cost to you.
Cab and bed: match the truck to passengers and cargo
Toyota’s ebrochure lists these cab-and-bed combinations. Availability can be constrained by drivetrain and package, so verify the exact combination on the vehicle’s window sticker before choosing based on a listing or order description.
| Cab and bed | Grades listed as available |
|---|---|
| Double Cab, 6.5-ft standard bed | SR and SR5 |
| Double Cab, 8.1-ft long bed | SR and SR5 |
| CrewMax, 5.5-ft short bed | SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro and Capstone |
| CrewMax, 6.5-ft standard bed | SR5, Limited, Platinum and 1794 Edition |
Is there a 2025 Tundra CrewMax with a 6.5-ft bed?
Yes. Toyota lists the CrewMax with the 6.5-ft standard bed on SR5, Limited, Platinum and 1794 Edition. It is not listed for SR, TRD Pro or Capstone in the ebrochure’s stated combinations. Check the specific truck’s window sticker because drivetrain and package can further constrain availability.

Best Tundra for towing: start with the actual truck’s rating
The SR5 is a useful place to start a towing search because Toyota specifies a hitch receiver, integrated trailer-brake controller and TOW/HAUL modes on that grade. However, those features do not make every SR5 suitable for every trailer. Toyota’s 12,000-lb figure is the maximum for the lineup; the rating for a particular truck depends on its configuration, drivetrain, equipment and conditions. Match the truck’s own tow and payload labels to the loaded trailer, passengers and cargo, and confirm that the trailer’s braking requirements are met.
Quick Recap
How to make the final choice
- Set your priorities. Decide whether the main job is work, everyday use, towing, off-road driving or luxury. That narrows the grade before you compare individual trucks.
- Choose cab and bed length. Use the availability table to identify combinations that fit your passenger and cargo needs, then verify the specific truck’s sticker.
- Pick gas or hybrid by output needs. Compare the published power figures and the price of the specific configuration; do not assume fuel savings from the output figures alone.
- Verify capability and price on the vehicle you may buy. Check its window sticker, payload and tow labels, dealer quote, destination charge, options and any regional fees or incentives.
