This shortlist compares three high-performance estate models using official manufacturer specifications: the BMW M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive, Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E PERFORMANCE Estate, and Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ Estate. Their published acceleration figures are not results from a controlled comparison, and the E 53 figure depends on an optional package.
“Wagon” and “estate” are market-dependent names for similar body styles. Because no country is specified and the available sources do not establish a complete 2025 model-year lineup for any one market, this is a limited shortlist—not a comprehensive 2025 rating or a definitive ranking.
How to read this 2025 performance-wagon shortlist
The figures below come from BMW Group and Mercedes-AMG materials, not independent back-to-back testing. They may reflect different market specifications, options, and test conventions, so a quicker published sprint time does not establish which car is fastest in real-world driving.
The evidence supports a comparison of powertrain approaches and manufacturer-claimed acceleration. It does not establish comparable prices, local availability, cargo capacity, warranties, running costs, or independent road-test performance. Those factors are essential to choosing the best wagon for a particular buyer.

The shortlisted performance estates
BMW M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive
BMW Group’s press material dated 29 May 2024 gives the M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive a manufacturer-claimed 0–100 km/h (62 mph) time of 3.6 seconds. That is a published specification, not an independently measured result or a guarantee for every market configuration.
BMW’s material describes the car’s performance in promotional terms, including “even more ferocious, sustained power delivery.” That is the manufacturer’s characterization, not an independent reviewer’s assessment.

Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E PERFORMANCE Estate
Mercedes-AMG describes the C 63 S E PERFORMANCE Estate as pairing a 2.0-litre engine with an electrically assisted turbocharger and an electric motor on the rear axle. The manufacturer’s model page lists 0–100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 280 km/h. These are manufacturer specifications; the page’s consumption figures relate to its displayed market context and are not included here as market-independent comparisons.
Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ Estate
Mercedes-AMG says the optional Dynamic Package Plus raises output to 450 kW and enables a manufacturer-claimed 0–100 km/h time of 3.9 seconds. Both figures are conditional on that package; the sprint time should not be presented as the specification of every E 53 Estate.

What the published acceleration figures do—and do not—show
| Model | Published 0–100 km/h figure | What qualifies the figure |
|---|---|---|
| BMW M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive | 3.6 seconds | BMW Group manufacturer claim in material dated 29 May 2024; not an independent test. |
| Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E PERFORMANCE Estate | 3.4 seconds | Mercedes-AMG manufacturer specification; market and model-year applicability should be checked. |
| Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ Estate | 3.9 seconds | Mercedes-AMG manufacturer claim with optional Dynamic Package Plus; market and model-year applicability should be checked. |
On paper, the C 63 has the shortest listed sprint time, but these figures cannot establish a real-world winner. The cars have not been compared under the same test conditions, and the E 53’s figure is package-specific. Treat the numbers as specifications to verify for the exact market and configuration, not as a ranked road-test result.
Which one might suit your priorities?
The specifications point to different approaches rather than a universal best choice:

- Consider the BMW M3 Competition Touring if you are comparing a performance-focused M3 Touring and want to verify its quoted 3.6-second manufacturer sprint claim against the exact version offered in your market.
- Consider the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E PERFORMANCE Estate if its described plug-in hybrid arrangement—a 2.0-litre engine, electrically assisted turbocharger, and rear-axle electric motor—is the configuration you want to investigate. Confirm local specifications and availability.
- Consider the Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ Estate if you are evaluating its optional Dynamic Package Plus specifically; the cited 450 kW output and 3.9-second sprint claim apply with that package.
These are starting points for research, not judgments about comfort, handling, sound, practicality, or value. The available specifications do not provide a comparable basis for rating those qualities.

- Whether the exact estate or touring model and configuration was sold in your country for the relevant model year.
- Local price, delivery availability, and whether performance figures require optional equipment.
- Manufacturer-measured cargo capacity and the measurement method, rather than assuming body style alone predicts usable space.
- Warranty terms and running costs for the local specification.
- Independent tests conducted under comparable conditions, including acceleration and assessments of comfort, handling, and practicality.
Without those aligned facts, a complete market-specific rating or a meaningful value ranking would overstate what the published figures establish.
