For an Indian buyer with a ₹15 lakh ex-showroom ceiling, Renault’s qualifying range has four very different answers: Kwid for compact city driving, Triber for seven-seat flexibility, Kiger for a five-seat SUV format, and New Duster for a larger SUV with turbo-petrol options. The right choice depends more on seats, size, powertrain and usable equipment than on the lowest starting price.
Renault India displays ex-showroom prices for selected city limits. Local taxes and other charges can apply, prices may change, and the final amount is the price applicable on the purchase date. The figures below reflect Renault India pages captured on 13 October 2026. Treat them as a shortlist filter, not an on-road quotation.

Renault cars available under ₹15 lakh
Renault India’s current lineup page shows four vehicles with starting prices below ₹15 lakh: Kwid, Triber, Kiger and New Duster. They are not direct substitutes, so a simple cheapest-to-costliest ranking can be misleading. Kwid is a compact five-seat hatchback-style city car, Triber is a configurable people mover, Kiger is a five-seat SUV and Duster is the larger, more powerful SUV option.

At the listed entry prices, Kwid is ₹1,27,975 cheaper than Triber, while Triber and Kiger are separated by only ₹125. Duster begins ₹4,68,000 above Kwid, but it is also the only model in this group with a displayed 160 PS turbo-petrol option. These are arithmetic comparisons of Renault’s displayed prices, not judgments about value or performance.

Renault’s figures are manufacturer specifications or claims, not independent road tests. Equipment, engine and transmission vary by version, so compare the exact trim you can buy rather than relying only on a model’s headline starting price.
Price snapshot and budget headroom
| Model or version | Displayed ex-showroom price | Room below ₹15 lakh |
|---|---|---|
| Kwid Evolution | ₹4,52,900 | ₹10,47,100 |
| Kwid Climber | ₹5,14,900 | ₹9,85,100 |
| Triber starting version | ₹5,80,875 | ₹9,19,125 |
| Kiger starting version | ₹5,81,000 | ₹9,19,000 |
| Duster Authentic TCe 100 | ₹10,49,000 | ₹4,51,000 |
| Duster Evolution TCe 160 DCT | ₹14,49,000 | ₹51,000 |
This headroom is only the difference between an ex-showroom figure and ₹15 lakh. It is not money that can automatically be spent on registration, insurance, accessories or taxes, because those costs vary by location and quotation. The Duster automatic leaves particularly little room even before any local charges are added.
1. Renault Kwid: the compact city-car choice
The Kwid is the logical Renault to examine when the priority is a small footprint, a low entry price and everyday urban manoeuvrability. It has five seats, 184 mm of manufacturer-claimed ground clearance and a 279-litre boot.

| Version | Renault India displayed ex-showroom price |
|---|---|
| Evolution | ₹4,52,900 |
| Climber | ₹5,14,900 |
The ₹62,000 gap between the displayed versions is a trim and styling choice within a very low overall price band. Both displayed Kwid versions are below the ₹15 lakh ceiling by a wide margin. The Climber name identifies the more styled version; the table does not imply an independent performance or safety advantage.
Who should choose it
- Drivers who spend most of their time on crowded city streets and want a compact car.
- Households that rarely need more than five seats and do not require an SUV-sized luggage area.
- Buyers who want to keep the vehicle price well below the maximum budget for registration, insurance and accessories.
The 184 mm clearance and 279-litre boot are Renault-published specifications. They should not be read as a promise of a particular ride quality, underbody protection or real-world luggage result. Inspect the rear-seat access, boot opening and driving position in person if the car will be used daily by several adults.
2. Renault Triber: the flexible seven-seat option
Triber is the model to investigate when a genuine third row matters. Renault describes it as a five-to-seven-seat vehicle with removable third-row seats and more than 100 seating configurations. Removing or folding the third row changes passenger and cargo priorities, which is more useful for a variable family load than a fixed seven-seat layout.
Prices and versions
Renault’s model page lists four Triber versions, starting at ₹5,80,875 and rising to ₹8,05,350. All four displayed versions are below ₹15 lakh ex-showroom. The displayed spread is ₹2,24,475, so the highest listed Triber still leaves substantial space below the cap for local purchase costs compared with Duster.

Engines and the mileage qualification
The listed power choices are 72 PS and 100 PS, with the exact output depending on trim and powertrain specification. Renault’s captured model page presents 21 km/l as a fuel-efficiency figure, but the same page renders its mileage field inconsistently. Use that number only as a manufacturer-published figure and check the current official brochure for the applicable test-cycle basis; it is not a sound basis for ranking Triber against the other Renaults here.
Who should choose it
- Families that occasionally carry six or seven people and want to remove the third row when it is not needed.
- Owners who alternate between passenger duty and carrying bulky items.
- Buyers who value seating flexibility more than SUV styling or the larger footprint of Duster.
Check the exact seating configuration, safety equipment and transmission on the quotation because the model name alone does not identify every specification. If seven people will travel regularly, sit in all three rows before booking; Renault’s configuration claim does not replace a physical space check for your family.
3. Renault Kiger: a five-seat SUV under the cap
Kiger is Renault’s five-seat SUV choice. It is positioned above the compact-car role of Kwid and provides a larger boot and higher stated ground clearance, while remaining substantially less expensive than the qualifying Duster versions.
Prices and versions
Renault’s displayed Kiger range starts at ₹5,81,000. Five listed versions are below ₹15 lakh, with the displayed top Emotion trim starting at ₹8,50,000. That leaves a wide price gap between the listed top trim and the ₹15 lakh ceiling, although local taxes, insurance and selected options still need to be added.
Engines and practical specifications
Renault lists 72 PS and 100 PS engine choices for Kiger, with the available engine and transmission tied to the chosen trim. The manufacturer quotes 205 mm of ground clearance and a 405-litre boot. The 405-litre figure is the largest fixed boot capacity stated for these four models; Triber instead changes its available cargo area as seats are removed or folded.
Who should choose it
- Drivers who want an SUV seating position and styling but do not need a third row.
- Families for whom a 405-litre manufacturer-quoted boot is more useful than Triber’s configurable rear seats.
- Buyers seeking a middle ground between the city-focused Kwid and the larger, costlier Duster.
The clearance and boot figures come from Renault India; they are not measurements from an independent test. Check the loading lip, rear-seat space and the equipment of the specific trim at a dealership. Also confirm whether the quoted 72 PS or 100 PS powertrain is the one you actually want, rather than assuming the output from the model name.
4. New Renault Duster: the larger SUV, with a clear ₹15-lakh cutoff
New Duster is the choice for buyers who want a larger SUV format and access to Renault’s 160 PS turbo-petrol range. It is the only model here where the ₹15 lakh limit materially changes which trims you can select.

Qualifying variants and displayed prices
| Variant | Renault India displayed ex-showroom price | Room below ₹15 lakh |
|---|---|---|
| Authentic TCe 100 | ₹10,49,000 | ₹4,51,000 |
| Evolution TCe 100 | ₹11,69,000 | ₹3,31,000 |
| Adventure TCe 100 | ₹12,99,000 | ₹2,01,000 |
| Evolution TCe 160 MT | ₹12,99,000 | ₹2,01,000 |
| Adventure TCe 160 MT | ₹13,99,000 | ₹1,01,000 |
| Adventure TCe 160 MT Dualtone | ₹14,19,000 | ₹81,000 |
| Evolution TCe 160 DCT | ₹14,49,000 | ₹51,000 |
The listed Techno+ TCe 160 MT starts at ₹15,29,000, so it is over the limit before registration, insurance or other charges. It exceeds the cap by ₹29,000 even on an ex-showroom basis. Higher versions exceed it as well. Renault’s configurator separately shows a ₹20,000 charge for dual-tone paint; the dual-tone Adventure price above is the value displayed on the Duster price page, so confirm the configured total for your city and avoid adding the paint charge twice.

Engines and transmissions
The Duster list includes 100 PS and 160 PS turbo-petrol choices. Manual transmission is shown on the TCe 160 MT versions, while the Evolution TCe 160 DCT uses a dual-clutch automatic. The TCe 100 and TCe 160 labels identify different outputs; do not assume that every equipment package or transmission is available with both. Ask the dealer to write the engine output, transmission and variant name on the quotation.
Who should choose it
- Buyers who need a larger SUV presence and are prepared for a higher purchase price.
- Drivers who specifically want the 160 PS turbo option or a DCT automatic while staying below ₹15 lakh ex-showroom.
- Families who can accept that the highest equipment grades cross the stated budget.
The Evolution TCe 160 DCT is the highest-priced Duster version in the qualifying list, but its ₹51,000 ex-showroom headroom can disappear once city-specific charges and options are added. If ₹15 lakh is a hard total-purchase limit rather than an ex-showroom filter, start with a lower Duster version or consider Kiger, Triber or Kwid.
Powertrain and body-style comparison
| Need | Models that match | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Compact five-seat city car | Kwid | Exact equipment of Evolution or Climber |
| Five-seat SUV format | Kiger or Duster | Whether 72 PS, 100 PS or 160 PS output suits the trim and budget |
| Occasional six- or seven-person travel | Triber | Third-row fit, removable-seat arrangement and quoted transmission |
| 160 PS turbo-petrol | Duster | Manual versus DCT and whether the chosen trim remains below the cap |
| Automatic requirement within the listed Duster range | Evolution TCe 160 DCT | City quotation, options and total headroom of only ₹51,000 |
Renault lists 72 PS and 100 PS choices for Triber and Kiger, while the Duster price list distinguishes 100 PS and 160 PS turbo-petrol versions. Those output figures are not interchangeable indicators of acceleration, fuel consumption or towing ability; they simply identify the manufacturer’s listed power choices. Use a test drive and the official trim specification to make the final decision.
Which Renault is best for your requirement?
| Your priority | Model to examine first | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Smallest, most city-friendly package | Kwid | Compact five-seat format, low entry price and 279-litre stated boot |
| Seven seats and configurable space | Triber | Removable third row and more than 100 seating configurations |
| Five-seat SUV at a moderate price | Kiger | 205 mm stated clearance, 405-litre stated boot and 72 PS/100 PS choices |
| Larger SUV with stronger turbo option | New Duster | 100 PS or 160 PS turbo-petrol range, including a qualifying DCT version |
| Maximum budget headroom for ownership costs | Kwid, Triber or Kiger | Their displayed ranges sit well below the ₹15 lakh ceiling, leaving more room for taxes, insurance and accessories |
“Best” is therefore use-case dependent. A seven-seat requirement rules out Kwid and Kiger regardless of their prices; a need for a larger SUV rules out Kwid even though it is the cheapest; and a DCT requirement narrows Duster selection to the qualifying automatic version shown in the price list.

How to check whether the car really fits your budget
- Define what ₹15 lakh means. Decide whether your ceiling is ex-showroom or the complete on-road amount. The prices in this guide are the former.
- Select the exact model and trim. A model starting below ₹15 lakh does not mean every version is below the limit. This is particularly important for Duster.
- Confirm the city. Renault states that its displayed figures are ex-showroom prices for selected city limits only. Local taxes can change the amount.
- Add mandatory and practical costs. Ask the dealer for registration, insurance, applicable taxes, handling or other disclosed charges, accessories and any optional paint cost.
- Request a written on-road quotation. Use the quote date and validity period when comparing dealers; prices and offers can change at Renault’s discretion.
- Check the powertrain on the quote. Verify whether the car is the 72 PS, 100 PS or 160 PS version and whether it has a manual, DCT or another listed transmission.
- Review the delivery specification. Confirm seat count, removable-seat arrangement, boot configuration and included equipment before paying a booking amount.
- Recheck the invoice before registration. Make sure the variant, paint, accessories and insurance selections match the written quotation and that no optional item was added without approval.
Renault’s official price pages also direct buyers to financing, an EMI calculator and trade-in valuation services. Use those tools to understand monthly payments and exchange value, but judge affordability from the complete on-road figure rather than the ex-showroom number. A lower EMI can result from a longer tenure; it does not make the vehicle cheaper overall.
Important price and specification cautions
- These are not on-road prices. They are Renault India’s displayed ex-showroom figures for selected city limits.
- Prices are volatile. Renault says prices can change and that the applicable price is the one on the purchase date.
- Manufacturer figures are not independent tests. Ground clearance, boot capacity, power output and fuel-efficiency numbers should be treated as Renault specifications or claims.
- Variant availability can change. Confirm that the trim, colour, engine and transmission are orderable in your city.
- Do not treat 21 km/l as a universal real-world result. The Triber page’s mileage display is inconsistent, so verify the current brochure and test-cycle conditions.
- Do not use an expired introductory offer. Any booking promotion shown on an older page may no longer apply; obtain the current dealer’s written offer.
- Do not assume a model’s maximum specification applies to its base version. The stated 160 PS Duster output and DCT transmission are tied to particular variants, not the entire Duster range.
Accessories and ownership preparation
Renault’s configurator lists an optional Duster car cover at ₹4,000. Treat that as a manufacturer-displayed accessory price, verify fit and current availability, and do not assume that an official accessory is sold through any particular marketplace.

Before delivery, decide whether you actually need accessories. A cover, floor protection or other add-on affects the final invoice and can push a tightly managed budget upward. Ask for each item’s price, tax treatment and warranty terms separately. Accessories should not be used to justify crossing a hard ₹15 lakh on-road ceiling.
