For a purchase decision, check the current C1 instructions and guarantee terms directly with the seller or manufacturer. The cited comparison offers use-case framing, but does not disclose a test method that would make its longevity figure equivalent to a controlled result.

Gtechniq explicitly says Crystal Serum Ultra is for accredited detailers only. The company advertises a nine-year guarantee, conditional on proper care and washing with Gtechniq shampoos and accessories. This is a manufacturer guarantee, not proof from an independent comparative durability test. Its product listing describes a hard 10H top layer over a softer 7H base layer; those are manufacturer hardness specifications and should not be interpreted as a promise that the coating prevents ordinary-use scratches.

Application conditions make this an especially poor product to treat as a casual DIY experiment. Gtechniq recommends keeping the car dry for 12 hours after application. Its FAQ says incorrect application may require wet sanding for removal, and that opened bottles should be used within three months. Gtechniq says EXO or C2 may be applied over Serum Ultra for hydrophobic performance, but does not recommend adding further Crystal Serum Ultra layers over an existing layer. What to compare before choosing
- Installer access: Decide whether you will apply the product yourself or book a qualified installer. Crystal Serum Ultra is accredited-detailer-only; CQUARTZ UK 3.0 is presented by CARPRO as consumer grade.
- Application tolerance: Wipe-on/wipe-off directions do not eliminate the need for careful preparation and application. A difficult or costly correction after a mistake can outweigh an advertised durability figure.
- Evidence behind lifespan: Separate a manufacturer’s durability claim, a retailer’s estimate, and a conditional guarantee. None of those is automatically a like-for-like independent test.
- Maintenance commitment: Consider the upkeep the product or installer recommends, especially where a guarantee depends on specified washing products and care.
- Finish preferences: The cited comparison discusses differing gloss character, but does not provide an independently measured gloss test. Treat those finish descriptions as subjective guidance and inspect reliable current product information before deciding.
