A car kettle can make hot drinks away from home, but it is a low-power vehicle appliance—not a household kettle that happens to use a car plug. Before buying, check your vehicle’s voltage and outlet protection, then compare capacity and documented safety features. The Dometic MCK750 is a larger 12 V/24 V option, but its manual requires a socket protected by at least a 20 A fuse and says to use it only while stationary.
Which car kettle should you choose?
There is no verified overall “best” based on boiling speed: the available product information does not provide controlled, comparable boil-time tests. Choose by compatibility, capacity, and the features documented for the specific model.
| Model | Capacity | Supply and rated power | Documented features | Important caveat |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dometic PerfectKitchen MCK750 | Up to 750 ml | 12 V / 200 W, or 24 V / 380 W | Automatic shutoff at boiling; two thermostats; heater fuse protection; power relay | Manual requires a socket protected by at least a 20 A fuse. Use only while stationary. Dometic MCK750 operating manual |
| LePresso Portable Outdoor Electric Kettle | 300 ml | 12 V / 96 W | Product page lists 45°C, 55°C, and 100°C settings, boil-dry protection, and a DC car adapter | These are product-page claims, not independently verified test results. For a larger fill
The MCK750’s listed capacity is up to 750 ml, which may suit more than one serving. Its 12 V and 24 V versions have different rated power, so match the model to the vehicle supply and check the outlet protection before purchase. The 20 A fuse requirement is not optional: a plug that fits does not prove the outlet is suitable.
For a compact single drink
LePresso lists a 300 ml, 12 V model rated at 96 W. Its product page also lists three temperature settings and boil-dry protection. Verify that the listing is for the intended model and that it is available in your region; marketplace availability can change.

How to check vehicle compatibility
- Identify the vehicle supply. Check the vehicle documentation and the outlet label or specifications to establish whether the socket is 12 V or 24 V.
- Check outlet protection. For the MCK750, the Dometic manual specifies use only in vehicles where the socket is protected with at least a 20 A fuse. Confirm the actual outlet circuit meets that requirement.
- Match the kettle version. The MCK750 is sold in 12 V and 24 V versions; its listed ratings are 200 W and 380 W respectively. Do not assume that either version suits every vehicle outlet.
- Review the manual for the exact kettle and vehicle. A matching plug shape alone does not establish electrical compatibility.
What to expect from heating power
These products are low-power compared with ordinary household kettles. Dometic lists 200 W for its 12 V MCK750 and 380 W for its 24 V version; LePresso lists 96 W for its 12 V model. Those ratings are not a reliable speed ranking: the available sources do not compare boil times under the same starting temperature, water volume, and vehicle supply. Treat claims that a particular model is “fast” cautiously unless they include comparable measurements.
Use a car kettle safely
Operate only when parked
Dometic’s MCK750 manual says, “Do not use the device to boil water while driving.” It directs users to operate the kettle only while the vehicle is stationary. This avoids handling hot water in a moving vehicle.

Do not assume every model has the same protections
Dometic documents automatic shutoff when the MCK750’s water boils, along with two thermostats, heater fuse protection, and a power relay. LePresso’s page advertises boil-dry protection. These features are documented for those products only; check the manual or product information for any other kettle rather than assuming the protections are universal.

Dometic recommends regular descaling. Its manual advises descaling after approximately 30–40 boils when signs such as longer heating time, louder boiling noise, or visible deposits appear, and separately recommends descaling about every three months. Follow the manual’s procedure for the model.
