Concrete price evidence: Hyundai Creta in Bengaluru
Hyundai Motor India’s Bengaluru page, surfaced on 13 October 2026, gives useful examples of how much the variant and gearbox can change the number. Every figure in this table is Bengaluru ex-showroom; none is an on-road quotation or an all-India price.

These examples should not be converted into a single “Creta automatic price”. IVT, DCT and diesel AT are different powertrain choices, and the trim name must accompany the price. Ask the dealer to repeat the fuel type, transmission, variant, colour-related charge (if any), manufacturing month and quotation date on the pro-forma invoice.
The gap between these listed figures is also a reminder to compare the version you can actually buy, not an attractive entry price from a different gearbox. Save a PDF or screenshot of the official listing with its date, then ask the dealer to reconcile any difference. If a promotion is mentioned, request its validity period and whether it reduces the vehicle price or only offsets a separate charge.
Why the gearbox matters more than the word “automatic”
“Automatic” describes the absence of a conventional clutch-pedal gear change, not one uniform driving experience. Your shortlist should record the gearbox beside the engine and fuel type.
IVT or continuously variable automatic
An IVT varies its ratio continuously rather than selecting a fixed set of gears. In a test drive, pay attention to low-speed smoothness, throttle response when joining traffic and the engine sound during a brisk acceleration. Do not infer performance, economy or long-term durability from the transmission label alone; comparable test and ownership data is not established for this shortlist.

Dual-clutch transmission
A DCT uses two clutches to prepare successive ratios. Drive it in stop-and-go traffic, on a ramp and while reversing into a parking space. Note any hesitation, abrupt engagement or heat-warning behaviour during your own drive, and ask the manufacturer for the service schedule applicable to the exact variant.

Conventional automatic or diesel AT
A diesel AT combines a diesel engine with an automatic gearbox. Compare the cabin noise, cold-start behaviour and response at the speeds you actually use. The Creta examples show why “automatic Creta” is incomplete: a petrol IVT, petrol DCT and diesel AT are separate buying decisions.
For any diesel automatic, tell the salesperson the proportion of city, highway and short trips you expect to drive. Step 3: Check the city-specific price
- Open the manufacturer’s India price or model page for your city, where a city selector is offered.

- Check whether the quote includes registration, insurance, tax, handling or optional accessories, and ask for each item to be itemised.

Write down observations immediately after each drive. Note the date, variant, tyre size shown on the car, traffic conditions and whether the salesperson drove part of the route. A consistent checklist is more useful than relying on memory when several automatic cars are driven on different days.
Model-by-model questions to take to the dealer
Hyundai Creta
- Which Bengaluru (or your-city) automatic variants are currently orderable: petrol IVT, petrol DCT and diesel AT?
- Does the quoted price match the exact trim shown in the current official page?
- What is the production month, waiting period and cancellation policy for that variant?
- Is the quoted colour included, and are any dual-tone or special-colour charges shown separately?

- Confirm which safety and convenience features are standard on the quoted trim rather than optional or accessory-installed.
- Request the current brochure or variant sheet and retain the quotation date.
Volkswagen Taigun
Volkswagen India’s cited result announces a new Taigun and a 75% assured buyback programme. Its displayed price snippet is for the Comfortline manual, so it cannot be transferred to an automatic variant. Before treating the programme as a financial benefit, verify its current eligibility, applicable terms, vehicle-age conditions, mileage limits, required documentation and present availability with Volkswagen or the dealer. Obtain the automatic trim’s own written price.
Ask whether the buyback figure is conditional on servicing, vehicle condition, ownership transfer, financing or purchase of another vehicle. Request the promised percentage, valuation basis and exclusions in the programme’s written terms. Until those conditions are confirmed for your car and delivery date, count the programme as an unverified possibility rather than guaranteed resale value.
Toyota Innova HyCross
The model is on the automatic shortlist, but its published range extends above ₹30 lakh. Keep only the exact automatic variants whose ex-showroom price meets your chosen ceiling. If your limit is on-road, leave additional headroom until your city’s registration and insurance figures are known. Confirm seating layout, delivery timing and the precise variant before comparing it with smaller vehicles.
Because seating and size may be the reason you are considering it, inspect access to every row, luggage capacity with all intended seats occupied and parking practicality on your normal routes. Do not compare an entry variant’s price with a higher variant’s equipment or a different seating configuration.
Maruti Suzuki Invicto
It is also listed as an automatic candidate. Request the current city price, exact trim, seating configuration and written equipment list. Do not assume that a model’s inclusion on a below-₹30-lakh list means every automatic version qualifies.
Ask the dealer to identify the exact automatic variant on the booking form, then match that name with the test-drive vehicle and final invoice. If the displayed range includes versions above your ceiling, apply the same trim-by-trim screening used for the HyCross.

Ask for a revised quote if you remove accessories, choose another insurer or change the payment method. Preserve both versions so you can see whether a discount has been offset by a newly added package.
