But “rides the line” is a description, not a legal classification: Bandit says that using Offroad Mode means the bike is no longer a Class 2 or Class 3 e-bike. Whether it can be used on a road, bike path, or trail depends on its configuration and the rules where you ride.
What the X-Trail Pro offers
New Atlas reported on June 26, 2023, that the X-Trail Pro has dual batteries, all-wheel drive, and a 1,750-watt power claim. That figure is an advertised specification as reported by the publication, not an independent measurement. New Atlas’s 2023 overview describes the bike as a blend of e-bike and moped characteristics.
Bandit’s owner’s manual says dual-wheel-drive models can switch between Front, Rear, Auto, and Max drive modes. It also identifies assist level 7 as Offroad Mode on the X-Trail Pro. These settings describe how the bike delivers drive; they do not, by themselves, establish where it is legal to ride.
Is the Bandit X-Trail Pro street legal?
There is no universal yes-or-no answer in the available specifications. Legal treatment depends on the bike’s actual configuration, the mode being used, and the rules of the state, locality, and route. A bike that fits a category in one operating mode or jurisdiction may not qualify in another.

The rear tail light enhances safety, making you clearly visible to others on the road. Additionally, it comes with a built-in horn for added convenience and safety, ensuring you're always noticed. These features combine to offer a sleek and functional design for a safer, more enjoyable ride.
Bandit’s manual is explicit about Offroad Mode: “ONCE THE OFFROAD MODE IS ON, YOUR E-BIKES IS NO LONGER A CLASS 2 OR CLASS 3 E-BIKE.” The manual instructs riders to use that mode only off road and to follow applicable local, state, and federal rules. Consult Bandit’s X-Trail Pro owner’s manual for the manufacturer’s operating guidance.
How that differs from common e-bike classes
Class 1, 2, and 3 labels are not interchangeable with a general claim that a vehicle is an “e-bike.” Under the National Park Service’s description, the relevant class definitions involve operable pedals, motor power no greater than 750 watts, and specified assisted-speed limits; Class 2 also involves a throttle. The X-Trail Pro’s reported 1,750-watt claim is above that power ceiling, but the New Atlas figure is an advertised specification, not an independently tested measurement, and the available sources do not establish every configuration detail. Do not infer a definitive classification from the headline specification alone.

The federal consumer-product definition is a separate test. The 2023 edition of 15 U.S.C. § 2085 defines a low-speed electric bicycle using fully operable pedals, an electric motor under 750 watts, and a motor-only speed below 20 mph under specified test conditions. That definition should not be collapsed into a single nationwide street-use rule or treated as the same thing as NPS class guidance. Read 15 U.S.C. § 2085 (2023 edition); that edition states laws in effect January 3, 2024.
Can you ride it on roads, parks, or bike trails?
Check the authority that controls the specific road or route. State and local rules can govern licensing, equipment, and operation, while a park or trail manager may impose additional access restrictions. The National Park Service says state operating requirements generally apply in national parks subject to park rules, and that superintendents may restrict which e-bike classes are allowed. Its regulation does not apply to electric mopeds or motorcycles. See the National Park Service’s e-bike guidance, last updated September 4, 2025.

- Public roads: Check the applicable state and local vehicle rules for the bike’s configuration and operating mode. The evidence here does not establish that every X-Trail Pro version qualifies for road use everywhere.
- National parks: Check the park’s own rules, including any class restrictions, as well as applicable state operating requirements.
- Other bike paths and trails: Ask the land manager or review posted rules. A route that permits some e-bikes does not necessarily permit a higher-powered model or one operating in Offroad Mode.
What to check before riding
- Identify the exact configuration. Confirm the model and relevant settings rather than relying solely on the product’s headline power figure.
- Confirm the operating mode. Bandit identifies assist level 7 as Offroad Mode and says a bike using it is no longer Class 2 or Class 3. Follow the manual’s off-road-only direction for that mode.
- Check rules for the specific destination. Review state and local requirements, then check the road, park, or trail manager’s access policy. Do not assume one agency’s definition governs every location.
- Inspect the bike and wear a helmet. Bandit recommends checking the bike before riding and using a properly fitted helmet. The manual does not identify a particular helmet model or certification; the NPS also lists helmets among bicycle safety equipment.
