For most buyers choosing on published performance, the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 is the stronger pick. Its 199.5 cc liquid-cooled engine is rated at 24.5 PS and 18.74 Nm and drives through six gears. The Indian-market Suzuki Gixxer SF 155 is the better fit when a lighter, fully faired motorcycle matters more than outright specification: Suzuki lists 13.6 PS, 13.8 Nm, a five-speed gearbox and 148 kg kerb mass.
Those are manufacturer figures, not a comparative road test. They do not establish which bike accelerates faster in traffic, feels more comfortable for your body, returns better fuel economy, or costs less to own. Use the specification comparison to narrow the choice, then test ride both and obtain same-city, written on-road quotations for the exact variants.

The short answer: NS200 for output, Gixxer SF for lightness and fairing
The Pulsar NS200 has the decisive paper advantage in engine output: 24.5 PS versus 13.6 PS and 18.74 Nm versus 13.8 Nm. It also has one additional gear and liquid cooling. That combination suits a rider who wants stronger stated performance and a more performance-oriented specification sheet.

The Gixxer SF 155 weighs 10 kg less according to the manufacturers and wraps its smaller, air-cooled engine in a full fairing. That makes it the logical alternative for a buyer who prioritizes the SF body style, lower listed mass or the way a lighter motorcycle feels at parking speeds. The figures alone cannot prove a comfort, handling or economy winner.

Confirm which Gixxer SF this comparison covers
This article compares the Indian-market Suzuki Gixxer SF 155. Suzuki also sells a separately named Gixxer SF 250 in some markets and model years; its specifications are not interchangeable with the 155 cc motorcycle discussed here. Suzuki Motorcycle India’s product page identifies the Gixxer SF covered in this comparison as a 155 cc machine.
Specification comparison
| Buying factor | Bajaj Pulsar NS200 | Suzuki Gixxer SF 155 | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Engine | 199.5 cc, liquid-cooled, four-valve, fuel-injected single cylinder | 155 cc, air-cooled, four-cycle, fuel-injected single cylinder | The NS200 has greater displacement and liquid cooling; the Gixxer SF uses the simpler, smaller engine. |
| Maximum power | 24.5 PS at 9,750 rpm | 13.6 PS at 8,000 rpm | The NS200 has the clear published output advantage. These are claimed peak figures, not acceleration times. |
| Maximum torque | 18.74 Nm at 8,000 rpm | 13.8 Nm at 6,000 rpm | The NS200 lists more peak torque; the rpm points are different, so the numbers do not describe every part of the rev range. |
| Transmission | Six-speed | Five-speed | An extra ratio may give the NS200 more flexibility between acceleration and cruising, but shift quality and gearing feel require a ride. |
| Kerb mass | 158 kg | 148 kg | Suzuki lists a 10 kg lower mass. The difference can matter when pushing, parking or making tight low-speed turns. |
| Fuel tank | 12 L | 12 L | Capacity is equal on paper. Actual range depends on consumption, traffic, load and riding style. |
| Front suspension | 37 mm upside-down fork | Telescopic fork | The layouts differ; hardware alone does not establish which ride is softer, firmer or more controlled. |
| Rear suspension | Nitrox monoshock | Swing-arm rear suspension | These are different designs, not a measured comfort ranking. |
| Body and controls | Street-oriented NS design; Bajaj lists a digital console | Fully faired SF design; Suzuki lists a clip-on handlebar | Choose the riding posture and wind protection you actually prefer after sitting on both motorcycles. |
The technical figures above come from Bajaj Auto’s dedicated NS200 specifications page and Suzuki Motorcycle India’s current Gixxer SF page, both accessed in 2026. Bajaj’s general model page contains a conflicting FAQ reference to peak power at 8,500 rpm; its dedicated specifications section states 9,750 rpm, which is the figure used here.
Engine and gearbox: what the numbers mean on the road
Why the NS200 leads on paper
A 24.5 PS, 199.5 cc liquid-cooled engine gives the NS200 substantially more published output than the 13.6 PS, 155 cc Gixxer SF. Its 18.74 Nm peak torque also exceeds Suzuki’s 13.8 Nm. The six-speed transmission provides another ratio for the engine to use as speed changes.

That advantage is most relevant to a rider who regularly carries a passenger, rides with luggage, uses faster arterial roads, or simply wants stronger acceleration potential. It is still only potential: neither manufacturer specification page supplies a common acceleration test, rolling-rest result, top-speed test or independent dyno comparison. Do not convert the PS and Nm figures into a promised time or speed.

What the Gixxer SF’s smaller engine implies
The Gixxer SF’s 155 cc air-cooled single produces less power and torque in the published specifications. A buyer selecting it should do so because the motorcycle’s size, fairing, mass and riding position fit better—not because it matches the NS200’s stated performance. A lighter motorcycle can feel easy to manage in a garage or congested street, but the available manufacturer specifications do not establish how the two behave in a specific traffic route.
Gear count is not the whole transmission story
The NS200 has six forward ratios and the Gixxer SF has five. More gears can make it easier to keep an engine near its useful rev range, while a well-spaced five-speed can be perfectly adequate for city use. The manufacturer data do not provide individual ratios, final-drive gearing, clutch effort or shift quality, so inspect those points during a ride rather than assuming the six-speed is automatically smoother.
Weight, chassis and riding position
The 10 kg mass difference
Bajaj lists 158 kg kerb mass for the NS200; Suzuki lists 148 kg kerb mass for the Gixxer SF. Kerb terminology and equipment definitions can vary between manufacturers, so treat the figures as each company’s published values rather than a laboratory-controlled comparison. Even with that qualification, a nominal 10 kg gap is meaningful when reversing the motorcycle, lifting it off a stand, filtering at walking pace or recovering from an awkward stop.
Streetfighter versus full fairing
The NS200’s exposed, street-oriented design gives it a different visual and ergonomic character from the Gixxer SF’s full fairing. The fairing can influence wind deflection and the sense of being tucked behind the motorcycle, but the available specifications do not measure wind protection, vibration or long-distance fatigue. Suzuki describes the Gixxer SF/Gixxer as “Inspired by European designs” and promotes durability, handling and long-ride comfort; that is Suzuki’s own marketing description, not independent evidence that it is more comfortable than the NS200.

Handlebars and control reach
Suzuki lists clip-on handlebars for the SF. Clip-ons can create a more forward-leaning sport-bike posture, although the actual reach depends on seat height, bar height, foot-peg position and the rider’s proportions. Bajaj lists a digital console for the NS200, but the specification material does not provide a complete ergonomic measurement set. Sit on each bike with both feet placed as you would at a stop, turn the bars lock-to-lock and check whether your wrists, knees and lower back remain relaxed.
Suspension hardware is not a comfort verdict
The NS200 uses a 37 mm upside-down front fork and a Nitrox monoshock at the rear. The Gixxer SF uses a telescopic front fork and swing-arm rear suspension. These layouts are genuine hardware differences, yet they do not tell you spring rates, damping settings, travel, tyre construction or how either bike handles your roads.
On a test ride, include a broken patch of pavement, a speed breaker, a smooth corner and a low-speed U-turn. Notice whether the fork bottoms, whether the rear rebounds repeatedly, how much effort is needed at the bars and whether the bike remains composed with a passenger. A single showroom bounce is not enough to judge either suspension system.

Fuel tank and real-world economy
Both official pages list a 12 L fuel tank. Equal capacity does not guarantee equal range: fuel consumption changes with traffic, average speed, tyre pressure, rider mass, passenger or luggage, weather, maintenance and riding style.

A third-party comparison result claims 40.36 kmpl for the NS200 and 45 kmpl for the Gixxer SF. The manufacturer pages do not validate those values or identify a common test method, so they are claims rather than independently verified results. Do not select the Gixxer SF solely on the expectation of 45 kmpl or assume the NS200 will deliver exactly 40.36 kmpl.
How to measure your own fuel use
- Fill the tank to the same practical level each time and reset the trip meter.
- Ride your normal route for at least one full tank, keeping a note of passenger, luggage and unusually aggressive or slow riding.
- Refill to the same level and divide the kilometres travelled by litres added. Repeat for several tanks before comparing bikes.
This method gives you a result for your route and habits, not a universal mileage promise. Keep tyre pressures and service condition comparable if you are evaluating both motorcycles.
Price: compare like-for-like, in your city
Suzuki’s official product page gives an approximate Delhi ex-showroom range of ₹1.26 lakh to ₹1.35 lakh for the Gixxer/Gixxer SF family. It warns that local on-road prices vary. The range covers a family of models and should not be treated as the exact price of one specified Gixxer SF trim in every city.
Bajaj’s official NS200 page displays ₹1,32,962 and ₹1,43,146 for different variants. Those are not automatically a matched comparison with Suzuki’s family range. Variant equipment, registration, insurance, taxes, accessories, handling charges and temporary offers can change the amount payable.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which rider should choose which bike?
Choose the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 when these priorities lead
- You want the higher published power and torque and understand that they are not independent performance-test results.
- You prefer a six-speed transmission.
- You expect frequent two-up riding, luggage or faster roads where the larger engine’s specification advantage is relevant.
- You like the street-oriented NS design and are comfortable with the listed 158 kg kerb mass.
- You are prepared to test ride rather than assume that the larger engine automatically delivers the comfort or economy you want.
Choose the Suzuki Gixxer SF 155 when these priorities lead
- You specifically want a fully faired 155 cc motorcycle.
- The lower listed 148 kg mass makes more sense for your parking, commuting or low-speed manoeuvring.
- You prefer the clip-on-handlebar layout after checking that the posture suits your wrists, back and height.
- You accept that its 13.6 PS and 13.8 Nm are materially lower than the NS200’s published figures.
- You have received a competitive, written on-road quote for the exact SF variant in your city.
If comfort, economy or reliability is your deciding factor
The available manufacturer specifications do not establish a winner in daily comfort, fuel economy, reliability or total ownership cost. Rider height, road quality, traffic, service support, passenger use and maintenance discipline can outweigh a specification-sheet difference. Arrange a ride on the same route, in similar traffic, and ask the dealer about service intervals, consumables and parts availability for the specific model year.
A test-ride plan that answers the questions specifications cannot
- Start with fit. Sit in your normal riding position, reach the levers, turn the bars fully and check whether your feet can stabilize the motorcycle without stretching.
- Check low-speed control. Ride at walking pace, make a U-turn and perform several starts and stops. Note clutch take-up, throttle response, steering effort and the effect of the 10 kg published mass difference.
- Use a representative road. Include smooth asphalt, rough pavement, a speed breaker, a moderate incline and a safe higher-speed section. Do not treat one short dealership loop as a full evaluation.
- Evaluate the engine without racing. Use normal gears and observe how readily each bike moves away from a junction, responds during an overtake and holds speed with your usual load. You are comparing your use case, not proving a laboratory result.
- Test the passenger position. If you regularly carry someone, have that person sit on each bike and comment on foot-peg reach, grab points, seat space and perceived movement.
- Inspect practical details after the ride. Check mirror visibility, instrument readability in sunlight, stand operation, steering-lock access and whether the fairing or bodywork complicates the checks you perform.
- Repeat if the decision is close. A second ride with the same rider, route and load often reveals fatigue or control differences that a first impression misses.
A decision framework for buyers still undecided
| Priority | Give the advantage to | Why | What remains unproven |
|---|---|---|---|
| Published engine output | NS200 | 24.5 PS and 18.74 Nm versus 13.6 PS and 13.8 Nm | Actual acceleration, top speed and overtaking margin on your route |
| Number of gears | NS200 | Six-speed transmission versus five-speed | Exact ratios, shift feel and cruising rpm |
| Lower listed mass | Gixxer SF | 148 kg versus 158 kg in manufacturer specifications | Real manoeuvrability once fuel, accessories and rider are included |
| Full-fairing form | Gixxer SF | SF bodywork and clip-on handlebar are part of its stated design | Wind protection and long-ride comfort for your body |
| Fuel capacity | Tie on paper | Both manufacturers list 12 L | Range and economy under identical conditions |
| Price certainty | Neither without a quote | Official figures are variant- and location-sensitive | Your final on-road total, insurance and dealer charges |
Common mistakes to avoid
- Comparing the wrong Suzuki. The Gixxer SF 155 is not the Gixxer SF 250; verify displacement on the quotation and registration documents.
- Calling PS figures a road test. Published peak power and torque do not provide acceleration, top speed or overtaking data.
- Using family prices as matched trim prices. Suzuki’s Delhi range covers Gixxer/Gixxer SF variants, while Bajaj’s displayed values refer to different NS200 variants.
- Repeating the conflicting Bajaj rpm figure. Use 9,750 rpm from the dedicated NS200 specifications page rather than the separate FAQ’s 8,500-rpm wording.
- Promising mileage. The circulating 40.36 kmpl and 45 kmpl numbers lack a manufacturer-validated common test method in the manufacturer material.
- Assuming suspension type equals comfort. Ride both motorcycles over the roads you actually use.
- Ignoring load and passenger needs. A motorcycle that feels ideal solo may not suit your regular two-up commute or luggage requirements.
Final buying recommendation
Start with the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 if your question is, “Which has the stronger published performance specification?” It offers the larger liquid-cooled engine, 24.5 PS, 18.74 Nm and six speeds. Start with the Suzuki Gixxer SF 155 if your priority is a lighter, fully faired motorcycle and you accept its lower output.
