Bajaj Pulsar 220F vs N250: Which Bike Should You Buy?

The Pulsar N250 leads on published power, torque, dual-channel ABS and suspension hardware, while the 220F offers semi-faired styling and a larger listed tank. Compare the specifications, price caveats and test-ride checks before choosing.

There is no single winner. Choose the Bajaj Pulsar N250 if your priorities are higher published performance, dual-channel ABS, USD front suspension and newer dashboard functions. Choose the Pulsar 220F if you specifically want its semi-faired design, 15-litre tank and familiar 220F identity. The specifications below come from Bajaj’s current India product pages; they are not a substitute for riding both motorcycles and obtaining written, city-specific on-road quotations.

At a glance: 220F or N250?

Decision point Pulsar 220F Pulsar N250 What it means
Engine 220 cc, oil-cooled, twin-spark fuel injection 249.07 cc, oil-cooled, single-cylinder SOHC, two-valve fuel injection The N250 has the larger engine and newer mechanical layout.
Peak output 15.37 kW (20.9 PS) at 8,500 rpm 18 kW (24.5 PS) at 8,750 rpm The N250 has the higher manufacturer-listed power figure.
Peak torque 18.55 Nm at 7,000 rpm 21.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm The N250 also has the higher listed torque, delivered at lower revs.
Front suspension Conventional fork; twin hydraulic rear suspension listed 37 mm USD fork; Nitrox monoshock The N250 lists more substantial front and rear hardware.
ABS Single-channel Dual-channel Dual-channel ABS gives the N250 a broader braking-safety specification.
Fuel tank 15 litres 14 litres The 220F carries one litre more according to the published specifications.
Design Semi-faired sports-bike Naked streetfighter Choose according to the look and wind-management preference you actually want.
Transmission Five-speed manual Five-speed constant-mesh with assist-and-slipper clutch called out by Bajaj The N250 has the more explicitly specified clutch technology.

See Bajaj’s Pulsar 220F product page and the Pulsar N250 specifications for the equipment lists. Exact equipment can change with a model update or market variant, so check the motorcycle offered by your local dealer.

How large is the paper-performance difference?

Using Bajaj’s listed figures, the N250 has 3.6 PS more power than the 220F, or roughly 17 percent more on this simple specification comparison. Its torque advantage is 2.95 Nm, approximately 16 percent. These percentages help explain why shoppers see the N250 as the performance-oriented option, but they are not equivalent to a 17-percent improvement in acceleration or overtaking time. Power-to-weight ratio, gearing, aerodynamics, rider mass, tyre grip and engine mapping all affect what happens on the road.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The torque peaks also occur at different engine speeds. The N250 reaches its quoted maximum at 6,500 rpm, 500 rpm earlier than the 220F’s 7,000-rpm peak. That may matter to a buyer comparing the specification sheets for everyday flexibility, but only a same-route ride can reveal whether the difference feels useful in your traffic and riding style.

Engine and performance: the N250 has the paper advantage

Pulsar 220F output

The 220F uses a 220 cc oil-cooled, twin-spark, fuel-injected engine. Bajaj lists 15.37 kW, equivalent to 20.9 PS, at 8,500 rpm and 18.55 Nm at 7,000 rpm. It is paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Those are manufacturer claims, not independently measured wheel figures.

Pulsar N250 output

The N250 has a 249.07 cc oil-cooled, single-cylinder SOHC two-valve fuel-injected engine. Its listed peak is 18 kW (24.5 PS) at 8,750 rpm and 21.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The five-speed constant-mesh gearbox is specified with an assist-and-slipper clutch. The torque peak arrives 500 rpm earlier than on the 220F, while maximum power is slightly higher in the rev range.

What the numbers do—and do not—tell you

On the published figures, the N250 makes 3.6 PS and 2.95 Nm more than the 220F. That makes it the logical choice for a buyer who ranks outright engine output first. The figures do not establish acceleration times, overtaking performance in traffic, vibration, heat, or refinement. Those depend on gearing, rider weight, road conditions and calibration, and were not established by a controlled back-to-back road test here.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Neither specification sheet supplies a quarter-mile time, top-speed test or independently measured rolling acceleration. If those are your deciding criteria, ask the dealer about a legal demonstration route and compare both bikes under the same conditions rather than relying on an internet claim. Keep tyre pressures, fuel load and rider luggage as similar as practical when making your own observations.

Brakes, ABS and suspension

Why the N250’s safety specification stands out

Bajaj lists a 300 mm front disc and 230 mm rear disc on the N250, together with dual-channel ABS. Dual-channel systems monitor both wheels, rather than limiting anti-lock intervention to the front wheel. The N250 also uses a 37 mm upside-down (USD) front fork and a Nitrox monoshock.

What the 220F lists

The 220F specification lists front and rear disc brakes, single-channel ABS and twin hydraulic rear suspension. A single-channel system is still an anti-lock aid, but it does not provide the same rear-wheel ABS coverage listed for the N250. The two bikes therefore differ in safety hardware as well as engine output.

Hardware alone cannot predict ride comfort or cornering confidence. Tyre condition, setup, road surface and your own fit matter. During a test ride, use a quiet, legal route to check brake-lever feel, low-speed balance, fork response over bumps and whether the handlebar and foot-peg relationship feels natural.

When comparing ABS, ask which wheel each system controls and identify the ABS warning light during the ignition check. Do not deliberately provoke a lock-up on a public road. Instead, make a progressive stop in a safe, open area and note whether the lever action is predictable. A larger disc or USD fork is a specification distinction, not a guarantee of shorter stopping distance for every rider and surface.

Size, weight, tank and everyday practicality

Fuel capacity

The 220F has a listed 15-litre tank; the N250 has 14 litres. The extra litre may reduce the frequency of fuel stops, but usable range still depends on speed, traffic, load and riding style. Do not convert the capacities into a promised distance without a comparable economy test.

N250 dimensions that are published

Bajaj’s N250 information lists a 164 kg kerb weight, 795 mm seat height and 165 mm ground clearance. These figures are useful for screening fit: a rider can compare the seat height with their inseam and consider whether the clearance suits speed breakers and uneven roads.

Why a specification sheet cannot settle comfort

The 220F’s semi-fairing may appeal to riders who prefer a sport-bike silhouette and some bodywork around the front of the motorcycle. The N250’s naked layout exposes more of the mechanicals and gives it a streetfighter appearance. Neither shape proves that one is more comfortable at highway speed. Wind pressure, seat contour, bar reach and your posture should be judged on a test ride.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The published material does not provide a directly comparable 220F kerb weight, seat height or ground-clearance figure in the same list used for the N250. Do not fill that gap with an unrelated variant’s number. Sit on the exact motorcycle you are buying, with your usual footwear, and check whether you can support it confidently at a stop.

Dashboard, connectivity and lighting

220F equipment

Bajaj’s 220F page lists a connected digital console, Bluetooth, navigation and a projector headlamp. Confirm the exact phone-pairing process and whether the navigation functions available on the displayed motorcycle match the current software version.

N250 equipment

The N250 page specifies a digital console with segmented turn-by-turn navigation, Bluetooth, a gear indicator, clock, distance-to-empty (DTE) display and ride modes. It also lists a bi-functional LED projector and daytime running lights (DRLs).

Both motorcycles therefore offer connectivity and navigation-related functions, but the N250’s published list is more detailed. Features such as Bluetooth pairing and turn-by-turn prompts are useful only if the interface is easy to read and stable with your phone. Ask the dealer to demonstrate pairing, navigation prompts, ride-mode selection and the warning lights before you sign a purchase order.

Check practical operation rather than merely ticking a feature box. Ask whether the phone must remain connected for turn prompts, where the controls are located, how the display behaves in bright sunlight and whether the DTE reading changes with riding conditions. The salesperson should show the functions on the same model year and variant named on your quotation.

Price: why you should not rely on one online number

Price is the most confusing part of this comparison because Bajaj’s own pages displayed two different Delhi ex-showroom figures on 13 October 2026. The 220F model page showed ₹1,35,582, while its FAQ showed ₹1,28,490. The N250 model page showed ₹1,42,202, while its FAQ showed ₹1,33,346. These are not on-road prices and the disagreement means you should not calculate a definitive price gap from them.

The difference between each model page and its FAQ is large enough to change a buying decision: ₹7,092 for the 220F and ₹8,856 for the N250. Because the figures are internally inconsistent, that arithmetic is only a description of the displayed pages, not a discount or saving you can claim from a dealer.

For the current amount payable in your city, request a written quotation that separates ex-showroom price, registration, insurance, taxes, handling or documentation charges and any accessories. Ask the dealer to identify the exact variant and model year. A quotation that does not itemise those components is difficult to compare.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For context only, a Bajaj launch release dated 28 October 2021 announced the original N250 Delhi ex-showroom launch price as ₹1,38,000. That historical launch figure is not a current retail price. The release described the F250 as a “Semi-Faired Street Racer” and the N250 as a “Naked Streetfighter”; launch-era colour names in that release should not be treated as proof of today’s colour availability. Read the 2021 Bajaj launch release for that historical context.

A third-party comparison page has displayed 220F at ₹1.36 lakh and N250 at ₹1.33 lakh, a different snapshot from Bajaj’s current page figures. Treat it as an indicative dated listing, not a dealer quote; the Autocar India comparison does not override the written offer for your location.

Build a comparable ownership budget

Put both quotations into the same worksheet. Start with the dealer’s ex-showroom amount, then add registration, road tax where applicable, insurance, mandatory fees and only the accessories you actually want. Record whether insurance is for the same coverage period and whether accessories are optional or bundled. If one dealer includes an extended warranty or roadside assistance, list it separately instead of treating it as a free difference.

Ask for the booking amount, cancellation terms, delivery estimate, payment schedule and the validity date of the quote. Prices, taxes and insurance premiums can change, so a quotation without a date is difficult to audit. Keep a copy of the final invoice and verify that the vehicle identification details match the motorcycle delivered.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Mileage: no evidence-based winner

There is no matched, controlled fuel-economy test for these two motorcycles in the available evidence. The comparison page includes user-reported mileage entries and an official-economy figure for the N250, but those numbers are not measured under identical conditions. Bajaj’s reviewed product pages do not provide a directly comparable economy figure for both bikes.

If fuel cost is a deciding factor, record fuel added and distance travelled over several tanks on each motorcycle, using a similar route, tyre pressures, load and riding style. Treat online owner entries as observations from individual motorcycles, not guarantees. Do not choose the 220F or N250 solely because an unpaired mileage number appears lower.

For a fair personal check, fill both tanks to the same practical level, reset the trip meter, avoid mixing very different traffic conditions and calculate distance divided by fuel added at the next refill. Note whether the motorcycle was ridden solo or with luggage. This still will not be a laboratory result, but it is more useful for your commute than copying a single anonymous number.

Which bike is better for your priorities?

Choose the N250 when these matter most

  • You want the higher published peak power and torque.
  • Dual-channel ABS is a priority for your regular riding.
  • You prefer a 37 mm USD fork and Nitrox monoshock on the specification sheet.
  • You want the listed assist-and-slipper clutch, ride modes, gear indicator and DTE display.
  • You prefer a naked streetfighter design over a semi-faired one.
  • You are comfortable paying the final quoted amount after checking that its extra equipment is useful to you.

Choose the 220F when these matter most

  • You specifically prefer its semi-faired sports-bike styling.
  • The listed 15-litre tank is more useful to you than the N250’s 14-litre capacity.
  • You want the continuity of the established 220F design and equipment identity.
  • Your local quotation makes the 220F materially better value after registration and insurance.
  • The 220F’s connected console and projector headlamp meet your needs without the N250’s additional functions.

When neither specification sheet is enough

If you are unsure about seat reach, wrist angle, wind pressure, clutch effort or low-speed balance, do not decide from displacement and feature lists. Arrange rides on both motorcycles, ideally on the same day and a similar route. Take a passenger only if you normally carry one, and compare the exact variants that appear on your quotations.

A practical test-ride and buying checklist

  1. Confirm the identity. Match the model name, variant, colour, model year and vehicle-identification details on the quotation with the motorcycle you ride.
  2. Check fit at a standstill. Sit in your normal footwear, place both feet as you would at a junction and check reach to the bars, levers and switchgear.
  3. Evaluate low-speed control. Ride at walking pace, make a U-turn where legal and note steering weight, clutch engagement and throttle smoothness.
  4. Use progressive braking. Test front-only and combined braking in a safe area, feeling for lever consistency and ABS intervention without deliberately provoking a dangerous stop.
  5. Check the display. Pair your phone, view navigation prompts, find the gear indicator and DTE functions on the N250, and verify the 220F’s connected-console functions.
  6. Ride over representative surfaces. Include a speed breaker, broken patch and open road if the route permits. Note suspension response and wind pressure rather than assuming the fairing or USD fork guarantees a result.
  7. Inspect practical details. Ask about service intervals, warranty terms, roadside assistance, replacement keys, insurance options and the cost of commonly damaged panels or lamps. Require these answers in writing where they affect your budget.
  8. Compare final numbers. Place the two itemised on-road quotations side by side, including registration, insurance, taxes and optional accessories. Do not compare one motorcycle’s ex-showroom number with the other’s on-road total.

How the two Pulsars fit into Bajaj’s 250 family

Bajaj introduced the Pulsar 250 family in October 2021 with two distinct formats: the F250 semi-faired street racer and the N250 naked streetfighter. That distinction explains why the motorcycles are not simply two engine sizes of the same body style. The current 220F comparison is therefore partly about lineage and appearance, while the N250 represents the newer 250-class equipment package listed by Bajaj.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Which is faster, the Pulsar 220F or N250?

The N250 has the higher published output: 24.5 PS and 21.5 Nm versus 20.9 PS and 18.55 Nm for the 220F. Those figures give it the paper advantage, but no controlled acceleration or top-speed comparison was established here. A same-day test ride is the proper way to compare real-world response.

Which bike has better mileage?

There is no matched, controlled fuel-economy result for both motorcycles. Online user entries and an N250 economy figure use different conditions, so they cannot establish a winner. If mileage matters, measure both bikes over comparable routes, loads, tyre pressures and riding styles.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Is the N250 worth choosing over the 220F?

It is the more rational choice if you value the N250’s higher power and torque, dual-channel ABS, 37 mm USD fork, Nitrox monoshock and additional console functions. The 220F can be better value when you specifically want its semi-faired design, 15-litre tank or a substantially lower local on-road quote.

Which Pulsar has better braking equipment?

The N250 lists 300 mm front and 230 mm rear discs with dual-channel ABS. The 220F lists front and rear discs with single-channel ABS. The N250 therefore has the broader published braking specification, although stopping feel still depends on tyres, setup, road surface and rider technique.

Does the 220F offer more touring range because of its tank?

It has a listed 15-litre tank, one litre larger than the N250’s 14-litre tank. That may mean fewer fuel stops, but actual range depends on consumption, speed, traffic, payload and riding style. Tank capacity alone cannot promise a particular distance.

Which one is easier for a shorter rider?

The N250’s published seat height is 795 mm, but the reviewed specifications do not provide a directly comparable 220F figure in the same list. Seat shape, suspension sag, footwear and confidence at a stop matter as much as the number. Sit on and ride both exact variants before deciding.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Are the prices listed online final on-road prices?

No. On 13 October 2026, Bajaj’s pages showed conflicting Delhi ex-showroom figures for both models, and those figures exclude registration and insurance. A dated, itemised dealer quotation for your city is the only reliable basis for the amount payable.

Should I buy based on the N250’s USD fork or ride modes alone?

No. Those are useful specification differences, but they do not prove superior comfort or handling for every rider. Test the steering, fork response, controls, display and ride modes on a legal route, then compare the complete on-road cost and the fit of each motorcycle.

The Bottom Line

Verdict: The Bajaj Pulsar N250 leads on published power, torque, dual-channel ABS, USD front suspension and dashboard functions. The Pulsar 220F remains compelling for its semi-faired identity and 15-litre tank. Because Bajaj’s displayed prices conflict and no controlled mileage winner is established, test ride both and compare written local on-road quotations before buying.
