Short answer: Choose the Pulsar NS200 if your priority is published performance, liquid cooling, a six-speed gearbox, USD front suspension and dual-channel ABS. Choose the Pulsar 220F if you specifically want its semi-faired body, larger stated fuel tank or 220cc oil-cooled twin-spark engine. Neither is an unconditional winner: the better motorcycle depends on equipment, riding priorities, the exact variant and the price quoted by your local dealer.
The comparison below uses Bajaj Auto’s current India-market product information, including the 2026 220F update. Price panels on the two official pages conflict, so treat every displayed amount as a reference that must be checked against a same-day, same-city quotation.

At a glance: Pulsar 220F vs Pulsar NS200
Both motorcycles are single-cylinder Pulsars aimed at riders who want more capability than a basic commuter. Their specifications point to different personalities. The NS200 is the more performance- and safety-focused package on paper, while the 220F emphasizes a semi-faired sport-bike shape, a bigger nominal tank and the character of an oil-cooled 220cc engine.
| Decision point | Pulsar 220F | Pulsar NS200 | What the published information means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Engine | 220cc, fuel-injected, twin-spark, oil-cooled single-cylinder; 20.9 PS at 8,500 rpm and 18.55 Nm at 7,000 rpm (Bajaj product page) | 199.5cc, fuel-injected, four-valve, liquid-cooled single-cylinder; 24.5 PS at 9,750 rpm and 18.74 Nm at 8,000 rpm (Bajaj specifications) | The NS200 has the higher rated peak power. The torque figures are close, but each is quoted at a different engine speed. |
| Gearbox | Five-speed is reported by Autocar India; confirm the current brochure before treating it as a manufacturer-backed specification | Six-speed (Bajaj specifications) | The NS200 provides one additional ratio according to the available specifications. |
| Brakes and ABS | Front and rear discs with single-channel ABS in Bajaj’s 2026 launch announcement | Dual-channel ABS; 300mm front and 230mm rear discs in Bajaj’s specifications | The NS200 adds ABS intervention on the rear wheel. Check the exact NS200 variant and equipment. |
| Front suspension and frame | Conventional fork in the comparison source; five-step adjustable Nitrox rear suspension highlighted by Bajaj | Perimeter frame, 37mm USD fork and Nitrox monoshock | The NS200 has the more explicitly specified sport-oriented front-end hardware. |
| Fuel capacity | 15 litres | 12 litres | The 220F carries 3 litres more nominal fuel, but capacity alone does not establish longer real-world range. |
| Kerb weight and clearance | Not stated in the cited 220F material | 158kg kerb weight and 168mm ground clearance (Bajaj specifications) | Do not infer a weight or clearance advantage for the 220F without a current, equivalent specification sheet. |
| Design and riding identity | Semi-faired sports-bike bodywork | Naked streetfighter with a forward-biased stance | These are design descriptions, not proof that one bike is more comfortable. |
| Displayed manufacturer prices | ₹1,35,582 ex-showroom Delhi in the page header; ₹1,28,490 in the FAQ; the December 2025 launch release says ₹1.28 lakh | ₹1,38,302 in the main panel; ₹1,32,726 in another section | The conflicting displays prevent a reliable price winner. Which bike is better for performance?
NS200: the stronger published performance package
The NS200’s rated peak power is higher, and its liquid-cooling system is designed to control engine temperature under sustained load. Its six-speed transmission also gives the rider an extra ratio to keep the engine in a useful part of its rev range as speed changes. Those specifications make it the more compelling choice for riders who value brisk acceleration, frequent high-rpm riding or a sportier mechanical specification.
That conclusion is about the published hardware, not a claim that the NS200 will always feel faster in every situation. Rider weight, traffic, road gradient, tyre condition, fuel, maintenance and gearing technique all affect the experience. No same-rider, same-road acceleration test was established for these two motorcycles, so an exact time advantage cannot be claimed.
220F: larger displacement and a different engine brief
The 220F uses a fuel-injected, twin-spark, oil-cooled 220cc engine. Its rated output is lower than the NS200’s, but the engine has its own appeal for riders who prefer the 220F’s established power-delivery character and semi-faired format. Bajaj describes the engine as a long-standing part of the model’s identity rather than presenting the 2026 update as a redesign.
Torque figures should not be read as a direct dyno comparison because Bajaj quotes each peak at a different rpm. A higher or lower number in isolation does not tell you how either bike responds at every road speed. A test ride is the appropriate way to judge throttle response, clutch effort, vibration and low-speed tractability.
Cooling, gearing and everyday use
What liquid cooling changes
Liquid cooling gives the NS200 a dedicated coolant circuit and radiator to manage heat. That is useful when the engine is worked hard for long periods, although it does not automatically make the motorcycle more reliable or more comfortable in every climate. The 220F’s oil-cooling arrangement is a simpler engineering choice associated with its 220cc twin-spark engine.

Five versus six gears
Autocar India identifies the 220F as a five-speed motorcycle, while Bajaj’s NS200 specifications list six speeds. Because the current 220F material cited here does not expose a matching official gearbox line, confirm the number in the latest brochure or on the motorcycle before purchase. If the five-speed report is accurate for your variant, the NS200 offers closer ratio selection and an additional top gear; whether that matters depends on your traffic and highway use.
Braking and safety equipment
Why the ABS difference matters
Bajaj’s 2026 220F announcement specifies disc brakes at both ends with single-channel ABS. In practical terms, ABS assistance is specified for one wheel, so the rear channel is not covered by the system described in that announcement.

The NS200 specification lists dual-channel ABS and identifies 300mm front and 230mm rear discs. Dual-channel systems can help reduce wheel lock at both ends during hard braking on a changing or slippery surface. They do not shorten every stop, and they cannot compensate for worn tyres, poor technique or excessive speed, but they provide an additional electronic safety layer.
Check the exact NS200 variant
Bajaj lists SC and DC USD NS200 variants. Equipment and pricing can vary by version, so verify whether the motorcycle you are quoted includes the USD fork and dual-channel ABS configuration you expect. Ask the dealer to write the exact variant, model year, colour, insurance and registration assumptions on the quotation.
Chassis, suspension and handling hardware
NS200’s sport-oriented specification
The NS200 is described with a perimeter frame, 37mm upside-down front fork and Nitrox monoshock. That combination is a clear hardware signal for riders who prioritize front-end control and a more assertive streetfighter stance. Its published kerb weight and ground-clearance figures are also available, which helps when comparing the motorcycle with other models using consistent measurement standards.

220F’s adjustable rear suspension
The 220F product page highlights a five-step adjustable Nitrox rear suspension. Adjustability can help accommodate different loads, but the correct setting depends on rider weight, passenger use and luggage. The cited comparison information describes the front fork as conventional. Neither source establishes a universal advantage in ride comfort, cornering feel or passenger comfort.
Road surface, tyre pressures, suspension setup and rider posture can change the result more than a component label suggests. If possible, ride both motorcycles over the type of broken pavement, speed bumps and open roads you use regularly.
Fuel tank, mileage and range
Tank capacity is not the same as range
The 220F’s stated 15-litre tank is larger than the NS200’s 12-litre tank. That gives the 220F more nominal fuel volume, but it does not prove that it will travel farther between refuelling stops. Actual range depends on consumption, reserve strategy, traffic, speed, load, tyre pressure and riding style.
User-reported mileage figures
Autocar India’s comparison page lists user-reported mileage of 40.46km/l for the 220F and 36km/l for the NS200 (figures accessed October 18, 2026). These are rider reports, not a controlled same-route test, laboratory certification or guarantee from Bajaj. Treat them as anecdotal context only. A rider who spends most of the day in congestion may see a very different result from one who cruises steadily on an open road.
For a useful personal estimate, reset the trip meter after filling the tank, record the litres added at the next fill, and repeat over several tanks while noting traffic and load. Do not use the larger 220F tank or the user-reported figures as proof of a guaranteed touring range.

Styling, ergonomics and passenger questions
Semi-faired 220F
The 220F’s semi-faired sports-bike bodywork gives it a more enclosed visual profile and distinguishes it from the naked NS200. Fairing coverage can affect wind exposure and the rider’s perception of speed, but the available information does not establish a measured aerodynamic or comfort benefit.
Naked NS200
The NS200 has a streetfighter design and forward-biased stance. That visual and ergonomic description may appeal to riders who want an exposed, aggressive-looking motorcycle, but it is not a substitute for checking reach to the handlebar, knee angle, seat height and passenger space in person.
How to evaluate comfort
No independent comfort assessment was established for this comparison. During a test ride, check whether your wrists carry too much weight, whether your knees fit naturally around the tank, how easily you can place both feet at a stop, and whether the passenger has usable grab points and foot-peg position. A ten-minute ride may not reveal pressure that appears after an hour, so ask the dealer about a longer route where permitted.

Confirm the exact equipment on the motorcycle in front of you. Model-year changes, variant names and dealer stock can affect what is fitted, and a feature listed for one version should not be assumed to appear on every NS200 or 220F.
What changed on the 2026 Pulsar 220F?
Bajaj’s launch announcement dated December 18, 2025, describes the 2026 220F as receiving LED turn indicators and refreshed graphics. It retains the fuel-injected, oil-cooled, twin-spark 220cc engine and its published 20.9 PS rating, along with front and rear discs and single-channel ABS. The announcement does not describe an engine redesign, a new cooling system or a switch to dual-channel ABS.
When comparing a 2026 motorcycle with older dealer stock, ask which model year is being quoted and check the indicator design, graphics, manufacturing date and warranty documents. Cosmetic updates can be meaningful to a buyer, but they should not be presented as a performance upgrade when the stated engine specification remains the same.

Bajaj’s India pages do not show one consistent price for either motorcycle. The 220F page header displays ₹1,35,582 ex-showroom Delhi, while its FAQ shows ₹1,28,490; Bajaj’s December 2025 launch release gives ₹1.28 lakh. The NS200 page shows ₹1,38,302 in its main price panel and ₹1,32,726 elsewhere.
These are displayed manufacturer values, not a dependable on-road quote. They may refer to different page sections, dates, cities or variants. Do not select a price winner from the conflicting numbers. Instead, request written quotations for the same city and date and ask the dealer to separate ex-showroom price, insurance, registration, taxes, accessories, handling charges and any finance cost.
- Specify the exact motorcycle and variant, including SC or DC USD NS200 where relevant.
- Ask for the model year, colour, manufacturing date and whether the unit is physically in stock.
- Compare ex-showroom totals first, then compare the complete on-road amount.
- Confirm the warranty, roadside assistance and included accessories in writing.
- Recheck the quote immediately before booking because prices and availability can change.
Choose the NS200 if these priorities match you
- You want the higher published peak-power figure and a liquid-cooled engine.
- You value six-speed gearing for varied urban and highway riding.
- USD front suspension and a perimeter frame are important to your equipment checklist.
- You want dual-channel ABS and the specified larger disc-brake hardware.
- You prefer a naked streetfighter appearance and are willing to verify the exact variant.
Choose the 220F if these priorities match you
- You specifically prefer semi-faired sports-bike styling.
- A 15-litre stated tank is useful for your refuelling routine, while understanding that capacity does not guarantee longer range.
- You want the 220cc oil-cooled, twin-spark engine configuration.
- You like the 2026 model’s LED indicators and refreshed graphics.
- The local dealer offers the exact 220F variant at a transparent, competitive on-road price.
Questions neither specification sheet can answer
The available material does not establish a universal winner for comfort, passenger friendliness, vibration, acceleration, braking distance, cornering confidence or real fuel economy. It also does not provide a same-rider head-to-head road test. Those are legitimate buying questions, but answering them requires your own test ride and a careful inspection of the actual motorcycles.
- Ride each bike from a cold start and listen for abnormal mechanical noise.
- Use the clutch repeatedly in slow traffic to assess effort and control.
- Check steering lock, mirror visibility and reach to the controls.
- Try both brakes progressively and confirm the ABS warning-light self-check.
- Inspect tyre condition, chain adjustment, fluid levels and panel fit on the specific unit.
- Test the display, Bluetooth pairing, navigation, USB port and lighting functions.
- If carrying a passenger, repeat the route with the passenger and check suspension response.
Bottom line for buyers
On published equipment, the NS200 is the more complete performance and braking package: it combines the higher rated output with liquid cooling, six speeds, a USD fork and dual-channel ABS. The 220F makes a defensible alternative when its semi-faired design, 15-litre tank, 220cc oil-cooled twin-spark engine or 2026 cosmetic update matters more to you. Since the official price displays conflict and no controlled head-to-head test establishes a comfort or mileage winner, choose only after confirming the exact variant, taking both bikes for a test ride and comparing same-day local on-road quotations.
