Bajaj Pulsar 150 vs Honda Unicorn: Which 2026 Commuter Bike Fits You?

The 2026 Pulsar 150 leads on published power and technology, while the 2025 Honda Unicorn offers a simpler commuter specification. Conflicting prices and missing comparable mileage, comfort and reliability data make a local quote and test ride essential.

Short answer: Choose the 2026 Bajaj Pulsar 150 if its newly announced equipment, manufacturer-claimed 14 PS output and feature-rich presentation are your priorities. Choose the 2025 Honda Unicorn if you want a straightforward commuter specification and are satisfied with its simpler equipment. Neither motorcycle can be declared the winner for mileage, comfort, reliability or lifetime cost from the available evidence. Compare the exact variant, obtain a dated on-road quote in your city and ride both before paying.

This is an India-market comparison of two different model updates: Bajaj announced a substantially revised Pulsar 150 on 24 August 2026, while Honda’s official announcement covers the 2025 Unicorn introduced on 26 December 2024. Older Pulsar 150 and CB Unicorn 150 specification pages may describe different motorcycles.

What is actually being compared?

Model year matters more than the badge here. Bajaj’s 24 August 2026 announcement describes an all-new Pulsar 150 with a new engine and gearbox, a new chassis, monoshock suspension and electronic features that were not part of every older Pulsar 150 specification. Honda’s 26 December 2024 announcement covers the OBD2B-compliant 2025 Unicorn. Before comparing a dealer’s motorcycle, check the manufacturing year, variant name and equipment list printed on the quotation.

The comparison below uses Bajaj’s published claims for the revised Pulsar and the 2025 Unicorn information reported by Honda and a later secondary comparison. Where a specification is from a secondary source, it is identified as such rather than treated as an independent test.

The power, torque and equipment entries are specifications, not proof of acceleration, refinement or durability. A test ride remains the best way to judge throttle response, clutch feel and low-speed balance.

How to interpret the engine figures

Peak power is the highest output recorded at a particular engine speed, while peak torque describes twisting force at its stated speed. The Pulsar’s 14 PS headline is higher than the Unicorn’s reported 13.18 PS, but the Unicorn’s 14.8 Nm figure is higher than the Pulsar’s 13.7 Nm. Those peaks occur at different rpm and do not describe the complete torque curve.

In traffic, gearing, throttle calibration, kerb weight, tyre grip and rider input can matter more than a one-line specification. A bike that feels stronger leaving a junction may not be quicker at highway speed, and a claimed output does not predict vibration or clutch effort. During a back-to-back ride, use the same route and note first-gear response, roll-on acceleration from roughly 30–50 km/h, braking confidence and ease of holding a steady speed.

Which bike has stronger performance?

Pulsar 150: higher published peak power

Bajaj lists 14 PS at 8,500 rpm and 13.7 Nm at 6,500 rpm for the redesigned 149.5 cc Pulsar 150. On the published numbers, it has the higher peak-power figure. Bajaj also says the engine and gearbox are new, so older Pulsar reviews should not be used as direct evidence about this version.

Those figures do not establish a quicker 0–60 km/h time or a better overtaking experience. They come from the manufacturer, and no controlled acceleration test of the 2026 model was supplied. Ask for a ride that includes a start from rest, a moderate-speed overtake and a stop-and-go section.

Unicorn: larger displacement and more stated torque

The 2025 Unicorn is reported with a 162.71 cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine producing 13.18 PS and 14.8 Nm. Its larger displacement and higher stated torque number may appeal to a rider who values relaxed pull at everyday speeds, but the figures come from secondary comparison reporting and do not include a common dyno or road test against the Pulsar.

Do not infer that the Unicorn is automatically smoother, faster or more economical from displacement alone. Gear ratios, kerb weight, fuelling, tyre choice and riding conditions all affect what you feel on the road.

Equipment and everyday technology

What the revised Pulsar adds

Bajaj’s announcement gives the Pulsar a new diamond-type frame, a nitrogen gas-charged emulsion monoshock and an LED headlamp. Its 5-inch TFT can mirror Google Maps, and Road, Rain and Sport modes are listed. Crawl Tech is intended for low-speed traffic. These are the clearest reasons to shortlist the Pulsar if you want contemporary equipment rather than a basic commuter layout.

Feature availability may vary by trim. Before signing, switch on the exact showroom motorcycle and confirm that the quoted variant has the TFT, navigation mirroring, each ride mode, LED lighting and Crawl Tech. A brochure or online page that shows the range does not prove that every variant includes every feature.

What the Unicorn provides

The Unicorn equipment list reported for this comparison is more conventional: an LCD instrument console, a USB Type-C port and single-channel ABS. Bluetooth, turn-by-turn navigation and riding modes are reported as absent. Honda’s official launch announcement calls the engine OBD2B compliant and positions the motorcycle as a premium commuter with practical features.

A shorter feature list can suit a rider who does not want to operate navigation mirroring or switch riding modes. It should not be turned into a claim that the Unicorn is more comfortable, more reliable or cheaper to maintain; comparable evidence for those outcomes is not available here.

What the manufacturers say

At the Pulsar launch, Bajaj Auto chief business officer Sarang Kanade described the model as the latest expression of the brand’s “Definitely Daring” performance identity, highlighting its muscular design and acceleration character. Honda sales and marketing director Yogesh Mathur said the 2025 Unicorn combines proven engineering, practical features and an OBD2B-compliant engine. These are manufacturer positioning statements, not independent measurements of speed, economy or durability.

Prices: why a single “cheapest” answer is unsafe

Published prices conflict by date and source, and all of the figures below are ex-showroom Delhi rather than an on-road amount.

Motorcycle and reference Published figure How to use it
2026 Pulsar 150, Bajaj announcement of 24 August 2026 ₹1,15,233 introductory ex-showroom Delhi price Announcement pricing; confirm whether the offer and variant still apply
Pulsar 150, August 2026 secondary comparison ₹1,15,223, ₹1,22,184 and ₹1,23,187 for listed variants Variant figures reported on 26 August 2026 and modified 27 August 2026; verify current stock and city
Pulsar 150, current product page Different starting values appear in separate sections Do not treat one page value as a universal current price
2025 Unicorn, Honda launch announcement of 26 December 2024 ₹1,19,481 ex-showroom Delhi Launch price tied to the 2025 announcement
Unicorn, later secondary comparison ₹1,15,045 Date and reason for the difference are unresolved

The practical answer to “which is cheaper on road?” is local and dated. Request an itemised quote for both motorcycles in your registration city on the same day. Compare the ex-showroom line, registration or road tax, insurance, mandatory charges, accessories, finance interest and any dealer or manufacturer offer. A lower ex-showroom figure can disappear once insurance, registration and optional equipment are added.

If you are financing, compare the total repayment and processing charges, not only the monthly instalment. Ask whether an advertised price assumes a particular insurer, loan tenure, exchange bonus or accessory package. Keep the quotation dated because introductory pricing and stock-specific discounts can change.

Fuel economy: Pulsar 150 vs Unicorn mileage

No apples-to-apples mileage test for these current versions was established. Third-party comparison pages publish varying consumption values, but they do not provide a common controlled route, traffic pattern, rider, tyre pressure and fuel-measurement method for both motorcycles. It would be misleading to name a mileage winner.

For your own comparison, reset both trip meters after filling from the same pump, record litres at the next refill and repeat over several tanks. Keep the route, passenger load, tyre pressures and riding pace as similar as practical. Record traffic, weather and idling because those can change the result substantially. Treat the number as your motorcycle’s consumption under your conditions, not a universal rating.

Which is better for daily commuting?

Choose the Pulsar 150 when equipment is the priority

  • You specifically want the announced TFT and Google Maps mirroring.
  • You will use Road, Rain or Sport modes and can confirm that your chosen trim includes them.
  • The new chassis, monoshock and LED headlamp are more important to you than a minimal control layout.
  • You prefer the higher manufacturer-claimed peak-power figure.

Ride it through a congested section rather than judging the low-speed features from a brochure. Check whether the display is readable in sunlight, whether navigation prompts are useful with your phone and whether the control switches feel intuitive with gloves. Also check phone-pairing steps and whether the charging arrangement leaves your device secure; the announcement confirms mirroring but does not establish every connectivity detail.

Choose the Unicorn when a restrained commuter format suits you

  • You are content with an LCD console, USB Type-C charging and single-channel ABS.
  • You do not need Bluetooth, turn-by-turn navigation or selectable riding modes.
  • You prefer to evaluate a simple control layout and the 2025 OBD2B-compliant engine in person.

This is a product-positioning inference from the published equipment list. It is not evidence that the Unicorn has superior ride comfort, refinement, durability, fuel economy or running costs.

Which is better for family use?

“Family bike” usually means a motorcycle that several riders can handle, feels predictable in traffic and has manageable ownership costs. The available specifications cannot rank these bikes on seat comfort, pillion comfort, service expense or long-term reliability. Have the actual primary rider and frequent passenger sit on both motorcycles, place both feet as they normally would, and check reach to the handlebar, grab rail and footrests.

During the ride, test a tight U-turn, a speed breaker, a stop with a passenger and a short stretch of open road. Note steering effort, clutch weight, heat around the legs and how easily the rider can see the instruments. Ask an authorised dealer for the scheduled-service intervals, labour charges, consumable prices and parts lead times for the exact variant. Those written estimates are more useful for a family budget than a generic internet claim.

Long-term ownership: what you can and cannot conclude

No comparable sourced measurements were found for service expense, resale value or long-term reliability. Honda’s and Bajaj’s statements describe their product positioning and equipment; they do not constitute independent durability results. Plan ownership using verifiable local information instead.

Before booking

  1. Write down the exact model year and variant on both quotes.
  2. Ask the dealer to list every included feature, including ABS configuration, console type, lighting, charging hardware and navigation functionality.
  3. Request the maintenance schedule and an estimate for routine services, oil, filters, brake components and tyres.
  4. Check the location and operating hours of authorised service centres that you can realistically use.
  5. Confirm warranty terms, roadside assistance, delivery date and the manufacturing month.
  6. Compare the final on-road totals and finance repayment, not only the headline ex-showroom number.

During the test ride

  • Start from cold if the dealer permits, listening for abnormal noise and checking warning lights.
  • Use the clutch and throttle in slow traffic, then test progressive braking in a safe area.
  • Try the intended passenger position and check whether luggage or a top box would interfere with the pillion.
  • On the Pulsar, verify each announced mode and the navigation-mirroring setup on the actual motorcycle.
  • On the Unicorn, confirm the USB Type-C location and whether the single-channel ABS behaviour suits your normal roads.

Questions to ask the dealer

  • Is this a 2026 Pulsar redesign or an older manufactured Pulsar 150, and which exact trim is available?
  • Is the quoted Unicorn the 2025 OBD2B model, and what is its manufacturing month?
  • Are TFT, Google Maps mirroring, all three modes, Crawl Tech and the LED headlamp included on this VIN or only on another variant?
  • What are the registration, insurance, handling, accessory and finance charges individually?
  • How long will routine parts take to arrive at this city’s authorised workshop?
  • Can the dealer provide a written service schedule and current labour estimate?

Written answers help prevent a feature or price shown on a range page from being assumed to apply to the motorcycle actually delivered.

Decision guide by buyer priority

Your priority More logical first shortlist What to verify before purchase
Published peak power and new technology 2026 Pulsar 150 Exact variant, real display functions and current quote
Simple commuter equipment 2025 Unicorn Seat and riding position, service estimate and current stock
Lowest on-road cost Neither can be declared in advance Same-day, itemised city quotes including insurance and registration
Best mileage Undetermined Comparable owner measurements on the same route or your own fuel log
Comfort or family use Undetermined Two-up test ride and rider-specific fit checks
Long-term reliability or resale Undetermined Local service feedback and written dealer information; no comparable sourced data is established here

Final recommendation

The 2026 Pulsar 150 is the clearer recommendation for a buyer who values the redesigned motorcycle’s published 14 PS output, TFT navigation mirroring, ride modes, Crawl Tech, LED headlamp and new chassis hardware. Confirm that the variant you can actually buy includes the features you want.

The 2025 Unicorn is a sensible shortlist for someone who wants a less feature-heavy commuter specification built around its OBD2B-compliant engine, LCD console, USB Type-C port and single-channel ABS. That choice reflects equipment preference, not a proven advantage in comfort, economy, reliability or ownership cost. Because the available prices conflict, make the final decision only after a same-day local quote and back-to-back test rides.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 2026 Pulsar 150 more powerful than the Honda Unicorn?

Bajaj claims 14 PS at 8,500 rpm for the 2026 Pulsar. The Unicorn is listed at 13.18 PS by a secondary comparison, so the Pulsar has the higher published peak-power figure. This is not a controlled acceleration result.

Which bike has more torque?

The reported Unicorn figure is 14.8 Nm, compared with Bajaj’s 13.7 Nm claim for the Pulsar. Different rpm points, gearing and vehicle weight mean the numbers alone cannot predict which feels stronger.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Which gives better mileage, Pulsar 150 or Unicorn?

There is no common, controlled mileage test for these current versions. Use repeated fuel logs on your own route or compare independently measured tests made under identical conditions.

Which one is cheaper on road?

No universal winner can be named. Published ex-showroom figures conflict by date and source, and registration, insurance, accessories and finance vary by city. Obtain same-day itemised quotes for the exact variants.

Are the Pulsar TFT, navigation and riding modes standard on every variant?

Bajaj announced those features for the revised Pulsar range, but availability can vary by trim. Confirm the TFT, Google Maps mirroring, Road/Rain/Sport modes, Crawl Tech and LED headlamp on the specific motorcycle in the quotation.

Is the Honda Unicorn better for family use?

It may suit a family wanting a straightforward commuter layout, but there is no comparable evidence here proving better comfort, reliability or running cost. Take the primary rider and passenger on a two-up test ride.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Which is better for long-term ownership?

The available material does not establish a winner for service expense, resale value or long-term reliability. Ask authorised dealers for service schedules, labour and consumable estimates, parts lead times and warranty details.

What if I am also considering an SP160 or Apache 160R 2V under ₹2 lakh?

That is a broader comparison requiring current variant prices and specifications for those motorcycles as well. Apply the same checks: model year, equipment, local on-road quote, fuel test, two-up fit and dealer-supported ownership costs.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Pick the 2026 Pulsar 150 for its higher published power and announced technology, or shortlist the 2025 Unicorn for its simpler commuter equipment. Verify the exact trim, compare dated city quotes and test both motorcycles before deciding.
